The repository as such can be handled or can be transported without reloading the fuel or the fuel rods is required.
It is otherwise within the scope of the invention, the secondary cover to weld the repository only when the final storage container is already in an intermediate storage container located. The intermediate storage container lid of the intermediate storage container as it were as an auxiliary welding device serve for the welding of the repository. The welding is carried out so that the said Intermediate storage container lid turned over its thread is that a loading opening of the intermediate storage container lid is arranged above a repository. Then the repository is raised, so that expediently only the repository head of the repository protrudes from the loading opening. Then there is one Welding of the secondary cover without additional shielding measures possible. The loading opening in the intermediate storage container lid can after welding the secondary cover the individual repository with a shielding plug be closed.
Disposable containers are expediently used, the outer diameter with others intended for final storage Containers matches, for example with the outer diameter of glass molds for glazed highly radioactive Waste from reprocessing. This requires the advantage that both types of containers in the same way without problems can be handled and in appropriate Repository shielding containers or directly in appropriate Drill holes can be disposed of. - Preferably is the outside diameter of the cylindrical repository 350 to 550 mm, preferably 430 to 530 mm. The wall thickness the container shell is preferably 30 to 100 mm, preferably 40 to 70 mm. The amount of the invention Repository container from the bottom of the container bottom to The top of the secondary cover is expediently 4700 to 5300 mm, preferably 4800 to 5100 mm and very preferred 4900 to 5000 mm. The primary cover thickness is preferably (without shielding plate) 150 to 300 mm, preferred 180 to 280 mm. The invention is distinguished by the considerable advantage from that by including the fuel elements in the invention Repository containers a reliable and permanent tight containment of the radioactive materials remains guaranteed.
