Abstract
Fig. 1The invention relates to a container system for the shielded transport of radioactive waste of different kinds and Radioaktivitaet from nuclear power plants and other nuclear facilities using a minimum number of effectively loaded containers. The container system is designed by combining individual elements in the modular system, which is adjusted in its shielding properties and interior masses to be transported radioactive waste, especially for the transport of standardized Faesser with radioactive waste of different radioactivity. For gradual variation of the shielding, only a minimal number of different components (outer sheath, several concentric shielding rings, upper and lower shielding covers) are required. For the transport of high-level waste, the container system can be modified by an additional shielding ring and additional cover reinforcements, by radioactive sorbents through a special container lid and separate container inner pot and by long waste pieces by coupling several container ring sections. The basic element of the container system is a cylindrical outer casing 1, preferably of steel with cover flanges 2 and welded-on trunnions 3 (FIG. 1). The concentric shielding rings 4,5,6 are each inserted into the outer shell 1 and fastened by means of retaining bolts 7 at the level of the trunnions 3. Upper shield cover 8 and lower shield cover 1 as well as the shield rings 4, 5, 6 are provided with known locking and sealing elements 12 (for example DD-PS 160380), which ensure a tight and mechanically stable closure of the container. The upper shielding cover 8 is provided in the insert variant according to FIG. 1 in a manner known per se with a central bore 9 for the passage of a barrel catcher 13 which is closed during transport with a protective hood 10.
Depending on the radioactivity and state of the radioactive waste to be transported, the container system can be changed in its screening properties and in its structure. The possible use variants shown here Fig.2a-f. For the transport of most of the radioactive waste generated in nuclear power plants (up to radiation protection group S5, ie a maximum of 4 · 10 4 GBq · m " 3 or equivalent dose rate up to 1 Sv · h" 1 at 0.1 m from the unshielded surface of the waste packaging ) -nw-three different shielding rings 4, 5, 6 are required, an outer shield ring 4, preferably made of steel, an outer shielding ring 5, preferably of lead.mit steel jacket and an inner shield ring 6, preferably made of lead with steel jacket, as well as two upper and lower shielding covers 8 and 11 of the same thickness of different material (steel or lead with steel jacket). In this case, the interior of the respective transport container is designed at least for receiving a standardized 200-liter drum 14, at omitting the inner shield ring 6 for a primary packaging up to 800 m diameter.
The change of the shielding rings 4, 5, 6 is carried out in a simple and fast way with the help of the rings welded eyebolts by conventional hoists (not shown in Fig. 1-2). Loading, transport and unloading of the container system were carried out in a conventional manner as for similar systems, eg. B. by loading from below at stored lower shielding lid 11 by means of barrel gripper 13 and by unloading down a Versturzeinrichtung or by means of barrel gripper 13 in underground cavities (not shown in Fig. 1-2). For the transport of highly radioactive waste (lower S 6 range: equivalent dose rate 1-100Sv · h ~ 1 at 0.1 m from the unshielded surface) low thermal power (max 10 " 4 W · g ~ 1 ), which according to experience very much Rarely required is an equipment of the container system with an additional inner shielding ring 15, and with additional cover reinforcements 16, both preferably made of lead with steel jacket (Fig.2e) .The remaining usable internal volume of about 100dm 3 stands for a corresponding primary packaging 17 for higher-level waste is available f
By using a known per se known container inner pot with filter layer 18 and an upper container lid with filter system 19, the container system for transporting spent radioactive sorbent can be converted (Fig.2f).
By coupling several, according to the radioactivity of the waste parts prepared ring sections (outer casing 1 and shielding rings 4,5,6) by means of coupling rings 20 and placing the upper and lower shielding covers 8 and 11 at the ends of this arrangement, a large container for transport long or Bulky radioactive waste parts 21 are constructed (Figure 3). The locking of the waste parts 21 takes place, if necessary, through installations in the large container, e.g. by spacer grid or insert tubes 22. With the large container can, for. B. the transport activated core internals, such as absorber rods u.a. done in the undivided state. Further additions of the container system by additional blocks are possible.
