Eine zuverlässige Überwachung der Leimmenge innerhalb des Leimwulstes wird
gemäß einer vorteilhaften Ausgestaltung dadurch gewährleistet, daß der Leimwulst
innerhalb einer an eine Leimzuführung angeschlossenen Gehäusekammer aufrechterhalten
wird, welche mit einer der Niveaukontrolleinrichtung zugekehrten
Quellöffnung versehen ist.
Eine Niveauschwankungen schnell und exakt erfassende Weiterbildung besteht
darin, daß die Niveaukontrolleinrichtung einen Abstandssensor aufweist.
Das durch Wasserverdunstung abnehmende Leimvolumen des Leimwulstes wird
am schnellsten nach einem weiteren Vorschlag dadurch wieder aufgefüllt, daß das
Wasserzuführungsaggregat mit einer auf die Quellöffnung der Gehäusekammer
ausgerichteten Zugabeleitung versehen ist.
Ein präziser Volumenausgleich des Leimwulstes ist gemäß einer weiteren Ausgestaltung
dadurch gewährleistet, daß die Zugabeleitung mit einer durch die Niveaukontrolleinrichtung
ansteuerbaren, an einen Vorratstank angeschlossenen Pumpe
verbunden ist.
Zweckmäßigerweise ist der Niveaukontrolleinrichtung ein auf die Leimwalzenoberfläche
ausgerichteter Temperatursensor zugeordnet, der zusammen mit der Niveaukontrolleinrichtung
mit einem eine Abhängigkeit zwischen der Walzentemperatur
und der Wasserverdunstung des Leimwulstes pro Zeiteinheit anzeigenden
Meßwertgeber verknüpft ist. Auf diese Weise wird sichergestellt, daß ausschließlich
durch Verdunstung bedingter Wasserverlust des Leimwulsts durch Wasserzugabe
ausgeglichen wird und nicht infolge einer Leimleckage aus der Wulstkammer ausgetretener
Leim durch den Leim in dem Leimwulst zunehmend verdünnendes

Dem Leimwerk ist eine Niveaukontrolleinrichtung 13 zugeordnet, die mit einem auf
die Quellöffnung 12 ausgerichteten Abstandssensor 14 versehen ist, welcher eine
Signalverknüpfung zu einem Meßwertgeber 16 aufweist, der außerdem durch
Signalverknüpfung mit einem auf die Walzenoberfläche der Leimwalze 2 ausgerichteten
Temperatursensor 17 verbunden ist.
Dem Leimwerk ist außerdem ein Wasserzuführungsaggregat 18 zugeordnet, dessen
aus einem Vorratstank 19 über eine Pumpe 21 beschickbare Zugabeleitung 22
über das Verteilergehäuse 11 in der Nähe der Quellöffnung 12 über der Walzenoberfläche
der Leimwalze 2 mündet. Die Pumpe 21 ist über eine Signalleitung 23

die Leimwalze 3 entnommen und auf eine zu beleimende Papierbahn 26 übertragen
wird. Dabei nicht abgenommener Leim wird durch die beiden Leimwalzen 2 und
3 in den Leimwulst 24 zurückgeführt. Die Menge des im Leimwulst 24 befindlichen
Leims wird durch die Niveaukontrolleinrichtung 13 derart überwacht, daß aus der
Leimquellöffnung 12 austretender Leim durch den Abstandssensor 14 überwacht
und daß bei außerhalb der tolerierten Schwankungsbreite des Leimniveaus über
die Leimzuführungsbohrung Leim nachgefüllt wird.
Falls die Maschine beispielsweise wegen einer Störung zeitweise angehalten werden
muß, wird das Leimwerk weiterhin in Betrieb gehalten, um ein Eintrocknen des
Leims zu verhindern. Da jedoch laufend Leim aus dem Leimwulst 24 entnommen
und auf der Walzenoberflächen der Leimwalzen 2 und 3 herumgeführt wird, nimmt
das Leimvolumen innerhalb des Leimwulstes 24 durch permanente Wasserverdunstung
des Leims ab, so daß die Gefahr besteht, daß der Leim sich zunehmend
verfestigt. Um dies zu vermeiden, wird das dabei zwangsläufig abnehmende Leimniveau
an der Leimquellöffnung 12 durch den Abstandssensor festgestellt. Damit
ein etwaiger verdunstungsunabhängiger bzw. leckagebedingter Leimverlust zu keiner
Verfälschung des verdunstungsbedingten Niveausignals führt, wird durch den
die Niveausignale und die Temperatursignale verrechnenden Meßwertgeber 16 eine
Abhängigkeit zwischen der Walzentemperatur und der Wasserverdunstung des
Leimwulstes pro Zeiteinheit angezeigt. Wenn aus diesen Meßwerten eine Leckage
ausgeschlossen werden kann, wird bei registriertem sinkenden Pegelstand des
Leims an der Leimquellöffnung 12 der Gehäusekammer 8 ein Signal über die
Signalleitung 23 zur Aktivierung der Pumpe 21 ausgelöst, welche Wasser aus dem
Vorratstank 19 über die Zugabeleitung 22 in unmittelbarer Nähe der Leimquellöffnung
12 auf die Walzenoberfläche der Leimwalze 2 gegeben, so daß durch die die
Verdunstung ausgleichende Wasserzugabe die Viskosität des Leims innerhalb des
