Claims (16)

  1. Electrical mortise lock having a chute-type housing (1), closed by a cover and accommodating said entire locking mechanism, said lock consisting of
    an actuating device (5),
    a control rod assembly (4), movable longitudinally in said housing,
    at least two mutually spaced locking devices (2, 2'), capable of projecting from said housing when said lock is in a closed position,
    said rod assembly (4) directly connecting together said locking devices (2, 2'), integral with said housing (1) and sliding in said housing, guided thereon by means of said locking devices (2, 2'),
    said actuating device being formed by an electric motor (5),
    a transmission mechanism (6, 6') for transmitting the movement between said actuating device (5) and said rod assembly (4),
    said electric motor (5) forming said actuating device controlling said rod assembly (4) both in an opening and closing direction through said transmission mechanism (6, 6'),
    an auxiliary mechanical actuating device (7) being also provided for controlling said rod assembly (4) in an opening direction,
    characterized in that
    said housing (1) accommodates, in addition to said rod assembly (4), said actuating device (5) as well as said auxiliary mechanical actuating device (7), and in that
    said actuating device (5) and said auxiliary mechanical actuating device (7) are separated from each other, and are disposed in stapced-apart locations in said housing (1), over the length of said rod assembly (4).
  2. A mortise lock according to claim 1, characterized in that
    said motor (5) is affixed to said housing (1)
    driving (10) and driven (11, 12, 12') members of the transmission mechanism (6') are directly affixed, respectively, to said output shaft (9') of said motor and to said rod assembly (4),
    said auxiliary mechanical actuating device (7) directly controls said rod assembly (4) without interfering with movement of said rod assembly (4) by said electric motor (5).
  3. A lock according to claim 2, characterized in that the transmission member (6') connecting said electric motor (5) and said rod assembly (4) can be disengaged at least in the opening direction, and in that said auxiliary mechanical actuating device (7) controls said rod assembly (4) only in the opening direction, said movement of said rod assembly (4) being completely released from the action of said auxiliary mechanical actuating device (7) when the latter is in a rest position, corresponding to said closed position.
  4. A lock according to claim 3, characterized in that said transmission member (6') connecting said electric motor (5) and said rod assembly (4) consists, on the one hand, of a drive pin (10) mounted at the outlet of a speed reducer (9) assembled with said motor (5), and, on the other hand, with a notched belt (11) kept engaged with said drive pin (10) and held between two return pulleys (12, 12') rotatably mounted on said rod assembly (4), an electromagnetic coupling (15) acting on at least one (12') of the return pulleys to block it in rotation, wherein said coupling can be disengaged in case of a power failure, to release the pulley (12') and thus make it possible to wind said notched belt (11) on said pulley (12'), at least in the direction corresponding to the winding direction required to enable said rod assembly (4) to be opened.
  5. A lock according to claim 3 or 4, characterized in that said auxiliary mechanical actuating device (7), actuated by a key, is a mechanical lock actuating a control arm (16) driven by a movement parallel to a direction of displacement of said rod assembly (4), and in that said rod assembly (4) has a projection (17) situated in said path of said arm (16), considered in the direction of displacement of said rod assembly (4) toward the open position, to interact with said arm (16) when said arm is moved in said direction of opening of said rod assembly (4).
  6. A lock according to any one of the preceding claims 2 to 4, characterized in that said rod assembly (4) further comprises a locking device (8) controlled both electrically and by said auxiliary mechanical actuating device (7).
  7. A lock according to claim 6, characterized in that said locking device (8) consists of a latch (29) pivoting on said housing (1), constantly urged by a spring to a position of engagement with a stop (28) provided on said rod assembly (4), and actuated apart from this engaged position, simultaneously by the piston of an electromagnet (31) controlled by the electric device and by a pawl (33), assembled with said control arm (16) of said auxiliary mechanically actuating device (7), interacting with a ramp (32) formed in said latch (29).
  8. A lock according to claim 6 or 7, characterized in that a quarter-turn lock (35), comprising a tongue (36) provided to interact with an electric catch (37), normally controlled concurrently with said electric lock, is integrated in the mechanism of the mortise lock, and in that the movement of said tongue (36) of said quarter-turn lock (35) at a distance from said catch (37) is controlled, via said actuating member (38) of said quarter-turn lock (35), by said auxiliary mechanical actuating device (7).
  9. A lock according to claim 8, characterized in that said actuating member (38) of said quarter-turn lock (35) also controls said rod assembly (4), only in the direction of opening, as well as the rocking of said locking latch (29) of said rod assembly (4).
  10. A lock according to claim 9, characterized in that the projection (17) on said rod assembly, subjected to the action of said control arm (16) of said auxiliary mechanical actuating device (7), consists of a small arm (45) situated at an upper part of a reversed L-shaped member (41); the long arm (44) of which lies parallel to said rod assembly (4) and rests, with its lower end, on an actuating lever (39) of said quarter-turn lock (35), in that said long arm (44) of said L-shaped member (41) is connected to said rod assembly via slots (43, 43'), the length of which corresponds, at least approximately, to an opening path of said rod assembly (4), and pins (42, 42'), and in that the end of said actuating lever (39) of said quarter-turn lock (35) engages in a slot (40) of said rod assembly, the length of said slot (40) being such as to provide said lever (39), in said slot, with a course corresponding to the opening course of said rod assembly (4) augmented by a preliminary unlocking course of said latch (29), and in that said actuating device (38) of said quarter-turn lock (35) is connected to said latch (29) of said locking device (8) of said rod assembly (4) in such a way that start of the course of said actuating lever (39) of said quarter-turn lock (35), in the corresponding slot (40) of said rod assembly (4), results in the withdrawal of said locking latch (29) in an unlocked position.
  11. A lock according to any of claims 1 to 10, characterized in that said housing (1) of said lock forms simultaneously a single casing accommodating all of said locking devices (2, 2'), said rod assembly (4), said actuating device (5, 7, 35) and said transmission (6, 6') between said actuating device (5) and said rod assembly (4), and door stile.
  12. A lock according to claim 11, characterized in that said lock housing forms a stile of a casement of an metal door.
  13. A lock according to claim 11, characterized in that said lock housing forms said stile of said casing of a metal door.
  14. A lock according to claim 5, characterized in that said auxiliary mechanical actuating device (7) consists of a support (18), affixed to said housing (1), of an actuating cylinder (27) for said lock, carried by said support (18), and of said control arm (16), sliding on said support (18) via said slots (19, 19') in which guides (20, 20') carried by said support (18) engage, said control arm (16) comprising two series of notches, namely a first series of notches, called actuating notches (22) provided for interacting with a bolt (26) of said actuating cylinder (27) for moving said control arm (16), and a second series of notches, called blocking notches (21), provided for interacting with a blocking pin (23) resiliently and permanently urged toward a position in engagement with said blocking notches, said blocking pin (23) being carried by a lever (24) pivotally mounted on said support (18) and controlled so as to pivot by the bolt (26) of said cylinder (27) to move said blocking pin (23) away from said notch (21) in which it is engaged, when said bolt (26) of said cylinder (27) engages with said corresponding actuating notch (22), so as to actuate said arm (16), this action of said bolt (26) on said pivoting lever (24) being interrupted as soon as said control arm (16) has started movement, so that said pin (23) is again resiliently urged toward an engaged position and can thus fall into the next blocking notch (21), the position of which corresponds to the end of the travel cycle of said control arm (16) resulting from the action of said bolt (26) on said corresponding actuating notch (22).
  15. A lock according to claim 14, characterized in that said control arm (16) consists of two parallel plates having an identical profiled section and assembled so as to be mutually spaced, and in that said lever (24) carrying said blocking pin (23) is pivotally mounted on one of the guides (20) engaging in the guiding slots (19) for the control arm (24) and lies between said two plates forming said control arm.
  16. A lock according to claim 8, characterized in that said electric catch (37) is opened via a timer in order to allow the release of said tongue (36) only after said locking bolts (3) have been completely withdrawn from their respective housings.
