Description

The present invention relates to a border of finish for open stair treads, including angled elements whose branches are intended to be respectively arranged on the edge of the steps parallel to the horizontal and vertical faces of these, in which the square elements have substantially flat branches and are intended to marry salient angles of the step covering the only song of the step, a connecting element ensuring continuity between two adjacent square elements.

When stairs are covered with a covering such as for example carpet, we are used to, for aesthetic reasons, to conceal the excess thickness produced by the coating on its support in masking the song of it with chopsticks finish. However, it turns out that the implementation of these is particularly long and delicate due to the squaring and dimensional faults usually encountered in construction, which impose a true fit of the wand elements as well in this which concerns angles only with regard to lengths.

GB-A-2 192 212 relates to a border of steps which is adjustable and which therefore does not requires no adjustment, neither in length nor in angle of assembled elements. To this end, the device comprises a first square element which is arranged on the corner projecting from a step and a second square element which is arranged in the inside corner of the step, these two elements being joined by a rectilinear element. So, for cover a nose of one step and the dish of the next step, it is necessary to call a relatively large number high of components, namely three corner elements and two straight elements. In addition, this border system does not lend itself to automatic positioning and easy of the elements, and in particular to a positioning called "to white "which consists, before any fixing, to arrange the border elements on all the steps constituting a stair ; indeed, in such a device, a simple positioning of the elements does not ensure immobilization of these relative to each other.

Document DE-A-27 11 491 also describes a border for songs of stair treads which is made up of sections of slide cut to length and fixed to the songs of the step and these steps borders present wings which are slidably mounted inside the section of slide. However, such a device has exactly the same disadvantages as that described in the first document cited above, namely that it requires both an adjustment in length and angle of the sections, some compared to others.

The object of the present invention is to remedy the disadvantages mentioned above by proposing a finishing border for stairs that is both easy and quick to put on and which, for its implementation, does not require no cutting or adjustment of the border whatsoever.

The present invention thus relates to a border finishing for singing open stair treads such as mentioned in the preamble, which is characterized in that the joining element is also square-shaped and includes holding means on two adjacent branches of two consecutive square elements.

In a variant implementation of the invention each of the branches of the angled junction element forms a sheath capable of admitting, by sliding, each branches of the angled elements.

Preferably each square element has means to ensure the positioning of one of its branches relative to the horizontal face of the step and of its other branch with respect to the vertical face of the market. Advantageously, the positioning means are made up of legs perpendicular to the plane of the element square and parallel to the main direction of each of the branches.

In a particular mode of implementation of the invention, the square-shaped joining element has short branches compared to branches of angled elements.

The invention will be better understood on reading the following detailed description of certain embodiments given solely by way of nonlimiting examples. In this description, reference is made to the appended drawings in which:

• Figure 1 is a partial side view of a staircase capable of a finishing strip according to the invention;
• Figure 2 is an exploded side view, on a larger scale, of the back of a square element and a connecting element shown in Figure 1;
• Figure 2a is a cross-sectional view, along the line IIa-IIa of Figure 2, of a branch of an angled junction element;

There is shown in Figure 1 a staircase 1 of which steps 3 of which provided with a finishing border according to the invention. The finishing border is composed square elements 5 consisting of a flat iron with branches 5a and 5b at 90 ° comprising, as shown in the FIG. 2, fixing lugs 7a and 7b which are arranged, on the one hand, perpendicular to the angled element 5 and, on the other hand, respectively along the longitudinal axis xx 'and yy' of each of the branches 5a and 5b of the element 5. Figures 1 and 2 show the surfaces external of steps 3, namely their horizontal surfaces and vertical, by a mixed line.

The finishing border according to the invention comprises also a connecting element 9, which is square in the present mode of implementation, and whose branches 9a are smaller than the branches of the element in square 5. As seen in Figure 2, the element of junction 9 includes side portions 11 which are folded parallel to the main face of the element 9 so as to constitute a sheath in which the branches 5a and 5b of the square element 5 can slide.

Under these conditions the implementation of the border finishing according to the invention is carried out as described below.

User can start by setting up the lower angled element 5, which rests on the upper side and on the edge of step 3, by its respective legs 7a and 7b which form stops, and which are then fixed in step 3 using any means of proper sealing. The user then has, on the horizontal branch 5a of the angled element 5, an element junction 9, then it introduces into the vertical branch 9a of it the vertical branch 5b of another element in square 5 which, in turn, rests on the step 4 following by its legs 7a and 7b. Like before, these are then fixed on step 3. The user do this from step to step until it reaches the upper part of the staircase 1.

Such a fixing edge present on the devices of the prior art the advantage not to require lengthening of each of the branches 5a and 5b of the square element 5, since the length differences are offset by the length of the branches 9a of the junction element 9. It also has the advantage of tolerating some squaring faults which usually exist on industrial markets, insofar as there is a slight clearance between the sheath constituted by the branches 9a of the element of junction 9 and branches 5a and 5b of the angled element 5.

Of course the fixing of the square elements 5 on the steps 3 can be done by any other means that a sealing of the legs 7a and 7b. We can thus use these to ensure fixing by gluing or by fusion of a hot-melt product.

We can also secure the border finishing by using connecting elements which have, as shown in Figure 4, legs fastening 15a and 15b which are provided in the corner of this element and which are intended to take place in a hollow formed between the horizontal and vertical faces of a step 3.

It is also possible, as shown in FIG. 5, use square elements 5 which are fixed on each of the steps by fixing lugs, as well as described above, and use 9 'junction elements which consist of plates, which can be of shapes various, and which are fixed either on each end branches 5a and 5b of the square elements 5, or directly in the body of the staircase 1 by gluing, sealing, hot melt resin, etc.

In a variant implementation of the invention shown in Figures 6 and 6a, step 3 of a staircase is covered with carpet 4 and the angle of each of the steps 3 is provided with a stair nosing square 6. The stair nosing 6 consists of an element profile whose internal angle is, in certain modes of implementation, provided with a longitudinal recess 8. On uses, according to the invention, this obviously longitudinal 8 to secure either an angled element to the step, or the fixing of a junction element.

For this purpose, as shown in FIG. 6a, the angled element 5 is provided, in an area close to its top, of a stud 19 perpendicular to the plane formed by its two branches 5a, 5b, which is split over part of its length, so as to give it elasticity qualities, this nipple 19 being intended to take place in the recess 8, so as to maintain the element at a right angle 5 on step 3.

We can of course provide any additional elements complementary, and in particular, as shown in the figure 7, corner elements 13, in the form of sleeves or flat elements, intended to connect two elements of bearings.

Claims (7)

1. Trim for open staircase stair edges, comprising right-angled sections (5, 5') whose arms (5a, 5b) are designed to be mounted on the stair edge facing (3) parallel to the horizontal and vertical stair faces, respectively, the said arms having an essentially flat profile and being designed to mate to the external angle of the stairs covering only the stair edge facing, a link section (9, 9') providing continuity between two adjacent right-angled sections (5, 5'), this link section (9) also being of right-angular shape and comprising a means of attaching to two adjacent arms of two consecutive right-angle sections.
2. Trim according to claim 1, whereby each of the arms (9a) of the link section (9) forms a sleeve designed to accept each arm (5a, 5b) of the right-angle trim sections (5) by sliding.
3. Trim according to claims 1 or 2, whereby each right-angle section (5, 5') comprises a means (7a, 7b) of fixing the position of one of its arms relative to the horizontal face of the staircase (3) and of the other relative to the vertical face of the staircase (3).
4. Trim according to claim 3, whereby the positioning means is constituted by tabs (7a, 7b), perpendicular to the plane of the right-angle trim section (5, 5'), which are aligned parallel to the overall direction of each of its arms (5a, 5b).
5. Trim according to claims 3 or 4, whereby the means designed to achieve the positioning (7a, 7b) also serves to mount the trim section onto the stair.
6. Trim according to claim 5, whereby the right-angle link section (9) comprises substantially shorter arms (9a) than those of the right-angle trim sections.
7. Trim according to claim 1, whereby the right-angle section (5, 5') comprises a stub (19), located close to its apex and protruding perpendicular to the plane of its two arms (5a, 5b), which is designed to locate into a hole (8) for this purpose in the end of the stair tread bracket (6).
