Durch Drehung der Saugrolle 11 entgegen dem Uhrzeigersinn wird die durch die Saugluft am Umfang festgehaltene Steuerbanderole 3 vom restlichen Stapel abgezogen, wobei sich gleichzeitig die Saugrolle 11 in Richtung des Doppelpfeils 12 schräg abwärts in Richtung auf die Saugtrommel 6 zubewegt. Durch den Muldeneinzug der Steuerbanderole 3 steht zunächst das vorlaufende Ende der Steuerbanderole von der Umfangsfläche der Saugrolle 11 ab. Sobald die Saugbohrungen 19 in der gezeigten mittleren Stellung der Saugrolle 11 in den Bereich des Steuerschlitzes 21 einlaufen und die Saugbohrungen 14 der Haltemulde 13 aus dem Bereich des zugeordneten Steuerschlitzes 16 auslaufen, wird das vorlaufende Ende der Steuerbanderole 3 an den Umfang der Saugrolle 11 angezogen und die Steuerbanderole im Bereich der Ansaugmulde 13 freigegeben, so daß die Steuerbanderole 3 auf ihrem restlichen Transportweg bis zur rechts außen dargestellten Übergabeposition am Umfang der Saugrolle 11 anliegt. Somit wird die Steuerbanderole 3 in der Übergabeposition tangential auf den Umfangsabschnitt 7 der Saugtrommel 6 übergeben, von deren Saugöffnungen 8 sie gehalten wird, während die Saugwirkung der Saugbohrungen 19 innerhalb der Saugrolle 11 unterbrochen wird.
