Definitions

  • the invention relates to the field of devices for retaining a boot on a gliding board, and particularly relates to a device for a board intended for the practice of snowboarding.
  • the device comprises a base and a rear support element, the base having a seat which extends between a front end and a rear end in a longitudinal direction of the device, the base having two lateral edges secured to the seat , the edges being connected to each other on the side of the rear end of the seat by an arch, the rear support element being articulated on the base along a substantially transverse axis of articulation of the device .
  • the shoe is retained on the device for example by means of straps.
  • the rear support element which extends in contact with the boot at the level of a user's lower leg, has a flexibility which impedes driving with regard to precision.
  • Document EP-A-0838248 which is part of the state of the art according to article 54 (3) of the CEB, discloses a device for retaining a boot on a sliding board, the device comprising a base and a rear support element, the base having a seat which extends between a front end and a rear end in a longitudinal direction of the device, the base having two lateral edges secured to the seat, the lateral edges being connected to each other on the side of the rear end of the seat by an arch, the rear support element being articulated on the base along a substantially transverse axis of articulation of the device, where the rear support element comprises two parts, an arch articulated on the base, and a cuff secured to the arch, the arch cooperating with the arch to limit an anteroposterior articulation movement of the element rear support in relation to the base.
  • Document EP-A-0838248 also discloses a gliding board provided with such a retaining device.
  • the subject of the invention is in particular a device for retaining a flexible shoe, which allows precise driving, and which offers a level of comfort sufficient to not disturb a user according to claim 1 and a gliding board according to claim 6 .
  • a device for retaining a boot on a gliding board comprises a base and a rear support element, the base having a seat which extends between a front end and a rear end in a longitudinal direction of the device, the base having two lateral edges secured to the seat, the edges being connected to each other on the side of the rear end of the seat by an arch, the rear support element being articulated on the base along a substantially transverse articulation axis of the device.
  • the device according to the invention comprises a rear support element in two parts, a hoop articulated on the base, and a cuff secured to the hoop, the cuff having a greater rigidity than the hoop, the hoop cooperating with the arch to limit an anteroposterior articulation movement of the rear support element relative to the base.
  • the structure of the rear support element is such that, while driving, it deforms very slightly at the level of the roll bar while remaining undeformable at the level of the cuff. It follows that the device allows precise driving, and offers a level of comfort sufficient not to annoy a user.
  • the invention also relates to a board provided with at least one device.
  • a device 1 is provided for retaining a boot on a gliding board 2, the boot not being shown for reasons of convenience.
  • the device 1 comprises a base 3 and a rear support element 4.
  • the base 3 has a seat 5 which extends between a front end 6 and a rear end 7 in a longitudinal direction of the device 1.
  • the longitudinal direction of the device 1 is a direction which is substantially the same as the longitudinal direction of the shoe when the latter is retained on the device 1.
  • the base 3 has them lateral edges 8, 9 which are provided for retaining the boot in a transverse direction of the device 1. It should be understood that the transverse direction is a direction substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, and substantially parallel to the seat 5.
  • An arch 10 connects the edges 8, 9 on the side of the rear end 7 of the seat 5.
  • the arch 10 is an edge which is situated towards the rear of the device 1 in elevation relative to the seat 5.
  • the seat 5, the edges 8, 9, and the arch 10 form a single piece, which makes it possible to manufacture the base 3 according to a simple process.
  • the base 3 can be made with a plastic or metallic material introduced into a mold, such as a polyamide reinforced with glass fibers.
  • the base 3 is retained on the board 2 by any means known to a person skilled in the art, such as for example a disc 11 itself secured to the board 2 by any suitable means.
  • the shoe is detachably retained on the base 3 by a means shown in the form of straps 29, 30, which are also well known to those skilled in the art.
  • the straps 29, 30 hold the shoe so that the sole is pressed against the seat 5, and the heel is pressed against the arch 10 or located near the arch 10.
  • the rear support element 4 comprises two separate parts which are an arch 12 and a cuff 13.
  • the arch 12 of the rear support element 4 has two arms 14, 15 situated respectively in the extension of the lateral edges 8, 9.
  • the arch 12 is articulated on the arch 10 along a substantially transverse axis YY 'of the device 1.
  • axis Y-Y ' is oriented in the transverse direction of the device 1.
  • the articulation of the arch 12 on the arch 10 is achieved by a means shown in the form of two screws 16, 17 substantially coaxial, according to a technique well known to those skilled in the art.
  • the cuff 13 is secured to the arch 12 by a means shown in the form of rivets, for example two rivets 18, 19 situated respectively on one side and the other of the rear support element 4.
  • an adjustable stop 20 limits an anteroposterior articulation movement of the rear support element 4 relative to the base 3.
  • the antero-posterior articulation movement must be understood as being a movement during which an upper end 21 of the cuff 13 moves away from the front end 6 of the seat 5.
  • the upper end 21 is common to the cuff 13 and to the rear support element 4.
  • the stop 20 is visible in section in FIGS. 3 and 4.
  • the stop 20 has a toothed sector 22 intended to cooperate with a toothed sector 23 of the arch 12, so that the stop 20 is attached to the arch 12 in a selected position.
  • teeth of the sectors 22 and 23 are always engaged whatever the position of the stop 20 relative to the arch 12.
  • the screw 25 passes through a slot 26 of the stop 20 at the sector 22, the width of the slot 26 being less than that of the sector 22, the sectors 22 and 23 having a neighboring width.
  • the width of the sectors 22 and 23 extends substantially parallel to the transverse axis Y-Y '.
  • the stop 20 limits the anteroposterior articulation movement of the rear support element 4 relative to the base 3 by contact with a face 27 of the stop 20 on a face 28 of the arch 10.
  • the device 1 is in a position of use which allows the driving of the board 2.
  • the position of use which corresponds to an extreme position of the rear support element 4 in the direction of anteroposterior articulation, the arch 12 and the arch 10 are located on the device 1 further back than the cuff 13.
  • the cuff 13 extends in part at least in front of the arch 10, if the longitudinal direction is taken for reference.
  • the materials and dimensions of the arch 12 and of the cuff 13 are defined so that the cuff 13 has greater rigidity than the arch 12.
  • the cuff 13 can be manufactured with sheets of glass fiber fabrics embedded in a polypropylene matrix.
  • the cuff 13 is substantially non-deformable under the action of forces exerted by the user while driving.
  • the arch 12 is preferably made by molding a polyurethane loaded with glass fibers.
  • the roll bar is very slightly deformable under the action of the forces exerted by the user while driving.
  • the deformation is small enough that the user can take firm supports.
  • the deformation is also sufficient so that the grips are cushioned and do not cause pain in the legs.
  • the structure of the device 1 according to the invention allows the rear support element 4 to deform in a region remote from its upper end 21.
  • the rigidity of the cuff 13 allows the user to keep good contact with the rear support element 4 at the lower leg.
  • the invention is produced according to all the techniques known to those skilled in the art.
  • provision may be made for the use of other building materials.
  • the cuff 13 may have reinforcements.
  • the structure of the stop 20 may be different.
  • the axis of articulation Y-Y 'could be located elsewhere on the device.
  • the arch 12 could be secured to the base 3 in a fixed position of use, that is to say without articulation.
  • edges 8, 9 may not be projecting relative to the seat 5; in this case, the edges 8, 9 are formed by the thickness of the seat 5.
  • the retention of a shoe on the device 1 can be done by an automatic boot system, to the exclusion of any strap.
