Definitions
- the invention relates to an insert element intended to be inserted between the sheets of a work printed, and serving as a support for an object associated so releasable to said insert element.
- Document DE-U-88 04 669 describes a support of writing whose cover has an edge to which is attached the end of a strip looped like a noose. The opposite end of this loop band is connected (by sewing) to an elastic band exerting on this tension in order to ensure the maintenance of a object slipped into the loop.
- GB-A-504 741 and US-A-5 029 899 describe a palette or writing medium with an edge is extended by a band or tab folded back on itself to receive a pen.
- the traditional technique of making inserting elements consists in effect of providing a cardboard whose dimensions are generally smaller to those of the pages of the printed work, said cardboard supporting an object on one of its faces, said object being releasably attached to the carton.
- the cardboard is generally associated with the work printed by stapling, or by gluing.
- the type of object concerned is de facto limited to relatively flat objects, such as sachets or pockets, so as not to increase excessively the thickness of the structure, especially when it comes to magazines, which would complicate routing issues.
- the invention aims precisely to solve this problem, by designing an insert element whose structure allows the support of objects larger than traditional sachets or pouches, no increase noticeable in the thickness of the printed work, while allowing easy access to the supported object which must can be retrieved as an associated free sample to the printed work.
- an inserting element intended to be inserted between the sheets of a printed work, and serving as a support for an object releasably associated with said insert element, characterized in that it is produced from a sheet of heat-shrinkable plastic, being consisting of a main portion intended to be secured to the printed work, and a terminal portion is connecting to this main portion extending beyond a slice of the printed work when said portion main is secured to said structure, said portion being folded and glued or welded on itself to form a housing external to said section, for receive the object to be supported, said object being closely held in place by heat shrinking of this terminal portion, a means being further associated to the inserting element to be able to release the object from its housing by opening said terminal portion.
- the insert element is equipped with its object, and after heat-shrinking of the terminal portion around the object, the latter is perfectly held in place in its housing, and then it suffices insert the insert element for its association with the printed work, thanks to the main portion of said insert element.
- the object supported is then apparent in protruding from the relevant section of the printed work, by so that the extra thickness caused is limited to that of the single main portion of the insert element.
- the housing formed by the portion terminal extends in a parallel main direction at the edge of the work, over an equal length or lower than that of said tranche.
- the terminal portion is welded to itself by a line of welding parallel to the main direction of the housing.
- the terminal portion is glued to itself by a thin line of bonding parallel to the main direction of housing, said gluing line being defined by two parallel bands beforehand printed on one or other of the opposite faces concerned and which delimit between them a bonding zone effective.
- the opening means to release the object of its housing, by opening the terminal portion of the insert element can take several types of structures, while ensuring the same function.
- the means of opening the terminal portion is constituted by a line of perforations formed on said portion terminal, extending in the main direction of housing, and by a gripping tab allowing the tear in the housing wall along this line.
- the means of opening the terminal portion is constituted by a tear strip associated with said terminal portion, extending in the main direction of the accommodation, said strip with a gripping end allowing the tear in the housing wall.
- the means opening of the terminal portion is advantageously constituted by the thin line of bonding constituting a detachable link, and by an associated gripping tab extending beyond this thin line of bonding.
- the housing formed by the terminal portion present, according to its direction main, a length shorter than that of the object to support, so that at least one of the ends of said object protrudes from the edges of the housing.
- the terminal portion is connected to the main portion by a line of punctures to separate the two portions by tearing along said line.
- main portion which is at least partly double wall, so as to define an additional flattened housing allowing to insert a second flat object such as a sheet or wafer.
- the insert element allows then to support two objects simultaneously, without causing significant extra thickness for the structure printed.
- the joining of the insert element to the printed work may be provided by different means, using techniques well known in the art printing industry.
- the main portion has, on the back side, elements of bond by light bonding, for its attachment to a page of the printed book.
- the housing of the object to be supported extends beyond the lateral edge parallel to the back of the printed work, and the main portion extends to less to the back of said work to ensure fixation of the insert element.
- the portion main can extend beyond the back of the work printed to form a flap allowing attachment of the insert element by pinching or stapling.
- the main portion is printed on one at less of its two sides.
- the printed work is equipped with several objects not likely to be supported by inserting techniques traditional.
- the insert element previously defined can solve this problem by providing that the insert element is combined in the same work printed with at least one other insert element, these insert elements being arranged in such a way that the objects they support are juxtaposed along the slice of the printed work, without telescoping between them. Again, the extra thickness caused by the elements inserting is limited to the thickness of only portions main of these elements, without the supported objects are in no way affected.
- Figures 1 and 2 illustrate a printed book 1, which can for example be a magazine, the back of which is noted 2, and sections 3, 4, 5.
- the area of 6 was noted hinge of the work, which is shown in position open in Figure 1 and in the closed position on the figure 2.
- Book 1 is fitted with an insert element 10 serving as a support for an object 50 associated so releasable to said insert element.
- the insert element 10 which is inserted here between the sheets of the book printed 1, is made from a sheet of material heat shrink plastic, and this insert is consisting of a main portion 11 secured to the printed work 1, and a terminal portion 12 is connecting to this main portion extending beyond a slice of the printed work when the portion main 11 is secured to said structure, as is shown here.
- the main portion 11 serves both means for securing the inserting element 10 to the printed work, and also of information support when this main portion is itself printed on at least one of its two faces, as shown schematically succinctly in FIG. 1 by capital letters.
- the main portion 11 extends beyond the back 2 of the printed product 1 to form a flap noted 13 allowing a fixing of the inserting element 10 by pinching or stapling.
- Such a technique of fixing is well known in the printing industry.
- the end portion 12 is folded and here welded on itself along a line marked 14 to form a housing marked 15 outside the section concerned (here the lateral edge 3 which is parallel to the back 2 of the structure printed 1), to receive an object to support noted 50, said object being tightly held in its housing 15 as a result of heat shrinking of the terminal portion 12.
- portion terminal 12 extends mainly beyond the bracket 3 of printout 1, so that object 50 kept in its housing 15 extends outside the edge of the structure, without causing any extra allowance.
- the only extra thickness is actually the one corresponding to the portion main 11 of the insert element 10. It becomes when possible to provide an insert element supporting a cylindrical object whose diameter is close to 1 cm, for example a perfume sample bottle or a mini spray bottle, or a tube or bottle of cream, or a pen sample.
- Such a method of inserting is radically different from traditional inserts, according to which the supported object is associated with a cardboard being arranged in the very thickness of the printed work.
- Figures 1 and 2 show a insert element structure according to which the housing 15 formed by the terminal portion 12 extends in a principal direction noted X parallel to section 3 of the work, but it goes without saying that we can provide a different arrangement with a housing extending in a direction parallel to another section 4 or 5 of the same work. In this case naturally, we will not be able to take advantage fixing the insert element at the back of the work, by gluing, stapling or pinching, as this is the case here. We will then use, on the back side, light bonding elements for joining to a page of the printed book, as will be described for another variant embodiment with reference in Figure 5.
- the housing 15 formed by the portion terminal 12 extends in this main direction X over a length shorter than that of wafer 3, but it's going of course we can provide an insert element which the terminal portion has a comparable dimensioning to that of the leaves of the printed work (variant no shown here).
- the terminal portion 12 is welded on itself, at the weld line 14, which is parallel to the main direction X of the housing 15.
- the inserting element 10 includes means for being able to free the object 50 from its housing 15 by opening the terminal portion 12 of this insert element.
- the means for opening the terminal portion 12 is constituted by a line of perforations denoted 16, formed on this terminal portion, which line extends in the direction main X of housing 15, and also by a lug of gripping 17 allowing the wall of the housing along this line 16. It is therefore sufficient to grab the grip tab 17, and to pull on this outward leg of the wafer, to cause tear in the wall of the terminal portion 12, which then opens along line 16, allowing you to recover the object 50.
- the gripping tab 17 may naturally be arranged either at the top or at the bottom of the accommodation receiving the object 50.
- the object 50 kept in its housing 15 extends along the edge 3 , outside of it, without causing any noticeable excess thickness for said structure.
- Figure 4 illustrates a variant of the means opening of the terminal portion 12.
- the opening means consists of a strip stripping 19 associated with the terminal portion 12, which strip extends in the main direction X of the housing 15.
- the tear strip 19 also has one end gripping 20 allowing the wall of the housing.
- Such a tear strip is well known in the field of object packaging.
- the tear strip 19 extends along a generatrix of the cylinder, as is illustrated here.
- the main portion 12 of the inserting element 10 presents, on the back side, connecting elements by light bonding 24, here in the form of two parallel strips, making it possible to secure the element 10 on a page of the printed book 1.
- Such a method of securing is well known in the field of inserting.
- the main portion 12 has a length less than the width of the pages of the book printed.
- the terminal portion 12 is no longer welded on itself, but glued on itself to form the housing 15, in accordance with a particular process which provides a detachable connection at this collage.
- the bonding zone has been noted, arranged according to a strip extending parallel to the X direction of the object, and there is thus a thin line of bonding 21 parallel to the above-mentioned direction X, which line of bonding is defined by two parallel strips 22 beforehand printed on either face concerned, and which delimit between them an area of effective bonding.
- the two bands 22 which are parallel and adjacent thus form two rails defining between them a constant narrow width channel, and determined so totally reliable, width which corresponds to the line of bonding obtained during the formation of the insert element before retracting it.
- These two bands parallels can be made from a varnish with a thickness of the order of a millimeter, both bands delimiting between them a linear bonding area whose width is less than a millimeter.
- the part terminal 12 folded back on itself, is glued to the level of the thin bonding line 21 defined as it comes to be explained, and it extends slightly beyond the gluing line to form a grip tab 23 just pull to remove the link glued which closes the terminal portion 12 by forming a cylindrical housing.
- the means of opening the portion terminal is therefore in this case constituted by both the bonding line 21 and by the gripping tab 23 associated.
- a housing 15 having, according to the main direction X, a length shorter than that of object 50 to be supported. In this way, at least one of the ends of the object 50 protrudes from the edges of the housing 15. This makes it possible in particular to provide an object 50 relatively elongated, without having to modify the insert element that we have.
- the housing formed by the portion terminal has a length greater than that of object 50 to be supported.
- This variant is illustrated in Figure 8, and the representation illustrates the fact that thanks to this longer portion length terminal, at least one of the ends of the object 50 is hooded by the heat-shrunk end wall 25. This hooding ensures extremely secure support reliable of the object in its housing, without risk of sliding in direction X of the housing.
- the inserting element 110 has a main portion 111 and a terminal portion 112 which is welded on itself at the level of a line of solder 114, and an object 50 is held in the associated housing 115 defined by this terminal portion 112. There is also a way to open the portion terminal 112, formed here by a line of perforations 116 formed on this terminal portion, extending in the main direction X of the housing 115, and a tab of grip 117 allowing the wall of the housing along this line.
- the insert 110 mainly differs of the inserting element 10 previously described by the fact that the main portion 111 is at least in double-walled part, so as to define a housing additional flattened, noted 128, allowing to insert a second flat object marked 51, such as a leaf or a brochure.
- Housing 128 is here delimited by the line of above-mentioned weld 114 and an additional weld line noted 127 which is arranged in the vicinity of the end inside of the inserting element 110, in the vicinity of the back of the printed work.
- the main portion 111 also has a height which is comparable to that pages of the printed book, while the portion terminal 112 has a lower height.
- the lines of welding 114 and 127 then extend over the entire height of the main portion 111.
- the housing 115 of the object to support extends beyond the lateral edge 3 of the printed work 1, as for the embodiment previously described, and that the main portion 111 extends at least to the back 2 of said work to ensure fixing the inserting element 110.
- the fixing is made by the very binding of the printed work, that is to say by gluing or stapling at said structure.
- insert element according to the invention can even be used repeatedly for a same printed work.
- FIG. 11 This possibility is illustrated in FIG. 11, where there is a printed work 1, in position closed, which is equipped with three inserting elements of the type described at the beginning, each element having a portion 12 with an object 50.
- the insert elements 10 are arranged in such a way that the 50 objects that they support are juxtaposed along the section 3 of the printed work 1, without telescoping between them.
- the number of objects illustrated in figure 11 does not constitute only an indication, and we can use a number different.
- the joining of the portion main of the insert element of the printed work may be provided indirectly, through a classic cardboard insert, the main portion then being fixed to this insert by gluing (like this would be for example the case with an insert element of the type illustrated in Figure 5), or by stapling, and inserting being itself directly attached to the structure printed.
