Definitions

  • the invention concerns safety and in particular antislip edges to be applied to steps or similar elements.
  • Antislip edges are known that comprise a metal profile fixed to the floor to which a rubber antislip covering is applied.
  • the metal profiles used at present have different shapes, but they are all constituted by common elements.
  • the section of said known profiles comprises a main body, the upper side of which is provided with a seat with further grooves for the rubber covering, while its side is provided with a projecting part (plate) with many holes suitable for the anchorage under the ceramic covering.
  • the rubber covering comprises a rubber layer that is corrugated on its upper surface and provided with protrusions that fit into the grooves of the profile on its lower surface.
  • the metal profile is laid at the same time as or shortly before the marble slabs or the ceramic tiles, so that the projecting part is directed towards the centre of the tread and the opposite edge of the main body is positioned in correspondence with the step corner, thus covering also the vertical tile applied to the lower tread, while the tread tiles cover and fix the projecting part of the profile.
  • the antislip rubber element is applied to the upper seat of the profile; said antislip rubber element can protrude frontally and partially cover also the underlying rise.
  • the slabs or tiles available on the market have varying thicknesses, it is necessary to produce and sell metal profiles having different heights, so that they can be adapted to the thickness of the tiles themselves. Furthermore, they are produced in different widths for each height, which involves considerable expenses for transport, storage in the warehouse and the relevant investments. Finally, the projecting part that must be positioned under the tile is as long as the whole profile and a good part of it is useless, beside being expensive.
  • the known antislip edges described above have a great drawback, represented by the fact that they must be applied before laying the tiles and cannot be applied to already existing floors, unless the tiles constituting the edge are removed running the risk of breaking them.
  • the object of the invention is a new antislip profile for steps that eliminates all the drawbacks described above.
  • the new antislip profile comprises, in its main parts, a plastic tape element that serves to prevent slipping, a profile provided with main body only and fastening brackets.
  • the antislip plastic element is a continuous tape made of plastic and preferably elastic material having a generic L-shaped section. Said plastic element is similar to the plastic elements of the known antislip edges, that is, the upper surface of its horizontal part is corrugated in order to prevent slipping, and it can have a vertical part directed downward with the function of covering the upper vertical part of the underlying rise.
  • the lower surface of the horizontal part of the L-shaped section of the plastic element is provided with ribs that are parallel to the long side of the plastic element and are suitable for ensuring the fastening of the plastic element itself to the profile seat.
  • the profile preferably made of light alloy or brass, has a complex section constituted by a lateral vertical wall beside which the covering tiles are laid, a substantially flat central part provided with at least one upper groove for the introduction of the plastic element ribs and with one or more lower recesses, and a final vertical wall.
  • Said upper grooves house and fix the ribs provided on the lower surface of the horizontal part of the plastic element.
  • the grooves provided on the lower side of the profile have the function to ensure the rigid connection of the profile itself to fastening brackets that are inserted under the profile and under the covering laid beside the profile and, once incorporated in the binder, said fastening brackets prevent any movement of the profile itself.
  • Each bracket substantially comprises a flat plate provided with one or more vertical elements on one side, wherein each one of said vertical elements is provided with one or more projecting parts on one or both sides.
  • Ribs with C-shaped or H-shaped section are thus obtained, such as to be perfectly fitted inside the corresponding lower recesses provided on the lower side of the above mentioned profile.
  • the bracket is shaped so that when it is connected to the profile, that is, when the bracket ribs are introduced in the grooves of the profile, its final flat part, which can even be provided with holes, protrudes from the side of the profile itself.
  • the brackets are produced in different sizes and are differentiated only by the height of the ribs with respect to the support surface of the bracket itself, so that the height of the profile with respect to the support surface is modified.
  • the new antislip profile for steps object of the invention solves all the problems mentioned above.
  • the new antislip edge can be applied also to already existing floors, for which it is sufficient to cut and remove the edge of the tiles corresponding exactly to the width of the antislip edge and to apply a profile without brackets.
  • Profile for steps with base and with interchangeable or fixed antislip covering provided with one or more brackets for the fastening to the floor, on whose lower side one or more seats are obtained, in which suitable brackets slide and are fixed by means of corresponding ribs.
  • Figure 1 shows a section of the metal profile (A) provided with the edge (A1) for the laying of the side tile (P) beside it, with a support surface (A2) for the antislip covering ( R) provided with recesses (A21) for the fastening of said covering and of the final edge (A3).
  • the underlying part is provided with C-shaped seats (A4) and seats in the shape of overturned H (AS6).
  • Figure 2 shows a section of a bracket (S) provided with a lower flat surface (S1) constituting the support base of the whole unit, with vertical walls (S4) (S5) having their upper part provided with projecting parts on one side only (S41) (S51) and corresponding to the seats (AS4) illustrated in Figure 1, and provided also with vertical walls (S6) with projecting parts on both sides (S61).
  • the lower part (S1) is outside A and is provided with a hole (SF).
  • Figure 3 shows the bracket (S) inserted in the profile (A) with the covering (R) provided with edge guard (RS).
  • Figure 4 shows the same profile (A) with the relevant covering (R) to which a bracket is applied, said bracket being provided with the same ribs and projecting parts of Figure 3, exception made for the fact that the vertical wall (S4) (S5) (S6) is longer and therefore the distance (d) between the lower support surface (S1) of the bracket and the upper surface (R1) of the covering varies in such a way as to correspond to a thicker ceramic or natural covering.
  • Figure 5 shows the same bracket (S) of Figure 1 applied to a narrower profile (B) provided with seats that are identical to the seats (AS4) and (AS6) within which the ribs (S5) (S6) with projecting parts of said bracket fit.
  • Figure 6 shows the narrow profile (B) to which higher brackets of the type shown in Figure 4 for thicker ceramic or natural coverings are applied.
  • Figure 7 shows a section of said profile with brackets applied in correspondence with the edge of a step (G) together with the covering (P) for the tread and (P1) for the rise.
  • Figure 8 is a general view of the profile with additional brackets applied to the edge of a step.
  • bracket can be applied to either wide and narrow antislip profiles, while any profile can house suitable brackets with different height according to the type of covering used for the steps. Therefore, for every step edge it is sufficient to provide a profile (wide or narrow) and a few brackets (for example, two or three) inserted into the appropriate recesses or seats, wherein the flat part of said brackets is incorporated in the binder of the covering.
