Gemäß einer vorteilhatten Ausgestaltung weist das hydro-pneumatische Druckübertragungssystem ein geschlossenes Hydrauliksystem mit das Mundstückende der Preßketten beaufschlagenden, an einen Hydraulikzylinder angeschlossenen Preßzylindern sowie einen mit dem Hydraulikzylinder in Wirkverbindung stehenden Pneumatikzylinder auf. Auf diese Weise wird ein System geschaffen, dessen kleinbauende Komponenten zum Teil direkt dem Tabakschneider eingefügt werden können und dessen übrige Komponenten eine flexible ortsunabhängige Unterbringung ermöglichen.
Eine vorteilhafte Verknüpfung der zusammenwirkenden Komponenten wird gemäß einer Weiterbildung dadurch errericht, daß die Wirkverbindung zwischen dem Pneumatikzylinder und dem Hydraulikzylinder eine den hydraulischen Preßdruck steigernde mechanische Kraftübersetzung umfaßt.
Eine zweckemäßige Weiterbildung der mechanischen Kraftübersetzung besteht darin, daß der Pneumatikzylinder und der Hydraulikzylinder durch zwei mit unterschliedlich langen Hebelarmen versehene, sich drehgelenkig an einem ortsfesten Lager abstützende Kipphebel verbunden sind.
Die erfindungsgemäßen Maßnahmen fügen sich auf vorteilhafte und effiziente Weise in ein Gesamtsystem ein, bei dem nach einem weiteren Vorschlag die Messertrommel und die Preßfördermittel mit separaten, elektromotorischen Antriebsmitteln ausgestattet sind.
