  • the forks can be easily engaged with or dis-engaged from the hydraulic actuators allowing the spacing of the forks to be adjusted to suit a desired load.
  • the forks may be dis-engaged so that they can be folded backwards over the carriage and retained by a suitable latch means, not shown, for safe road use.
  • Provision for fork retention is provided to eliminate inadvertent lateral fork movement in operation of the device by virtue of the above referred-to inter-engagement.

Instrument de manutention de matériel (121) comprenant un support (125), un dispositif capable d'être mis en prise avec une charge (151, 152) monté de manière coulissante sur le support (125) pour effectuer un mouvement par rapport à celui-ci dans une direction latérale et une barre (153) montée sur le support (125), dans lequel la barre (153) s'étend transversalement au support (125), la barre (153) est montée pour effectuer un mouvement vers le haut et vers le bas par rapport au support (125) et le dispositif capable d'être mis en prise avec une charge (151, 152) est monté sur la barre (153) pour effectuer un mouvement de coulissement latéral, caractérisé en ce que les moyens de déplacement latéral (162, 163) sont prévus et montés entre le support (125) et le dispositif capable d'être mis en prise avec une charge (151, 152) pour entraíner le mouvement du dispositif capable d'être mis en prise avec une charge (151, 152) par rapport au support (125) dans ladite direction latérale.
  2. Instrument de manutention de matériel selon la revendication 1, dans lequel le dispositif capable d'être mis en prise avec une charge (151, 152) est mobile par rapport aux moyens de déplacement latéral (162, 163), et des moyens d'immobilisation sont prévus de manière amovible afin de fixer le dispositif capable d'être mis en prise avec une charge (151, 152) aux moyens de déplacement latéral (162, 163).
  3. Instrument de manutention de matériel selon la revendication 2, dans lequel les moyens d'immobilisation comprennent un premier ensemble de butées capables d'être mises en prise mutuellement avec au moins une première autre butée.
  4. Instrument de manutention de matériel selon la revendication 3, dans lequel ledit premier ensemble de butées et au moins une autre butée sont respectivement fixes par rapport à l'un dudit dispositif capable d'être mis en prise avec une charge (151, 152) et desdits moyens de déplacement latéral (162, 163).
  5. Instrument de manutention de matériel selon l'une quelconque des revendications 2 à 4, dans lequel lesdits moyens d'immobilisation comprennent un cliquet (160) mobile avec le dispositif capable d'être mis en prise avec une charge (151, 152) et susceptible d'être mis en prise de manière libérable avec une pluralité de dents (161) fixes par rapport aux moyens de déplacement latéral (162, 163).
  6. Instrument de manutention de matériel selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel les moyens de déplacement latéral (162, 163) comprennent un dispositif à piston et vérin actionné par un fluide.
  7. Instrument de manutention de matériel selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel le dispositif capable d'être mis en prise avec une charge (151, 152) est capable de tourner par rapport au support (125).
  8. Instrument de manutention de matériel selon la revendication 3 ou l'une quelconque des revendications 4 à 7 lorsqu'elles dépendent directement ou indirectement de la revendication 3, dans lequel le dispositif capable d'être mis en prise avec une charge (151, 152) est pourvu de l'une desdites butées.
  9. Instrument de manutention de matériel selon la revendication 8, dans lequel le dispositif capable d'être mis en prise avec une charge (151, 152) est capable de pivoter de manière à déplacer lesdites butées entre une position engagée et une position désengagée de telle manière que le dispositif capable d'être mis en prise avec une charge puisse être positionné à une position latérale souhaitée par rapport aux moyens de déplacement latéral (162, 163).
  10. Instrument de manutention de matériel selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel la barre (153) est reliée de manière non rotative au dispositif capable d'être mis en prise avec une charge (152, 153).
  11. Instrument de manutention de matériel selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel la barre (153) est capable de tourner par rapport au support (125).
  12. Instrument de manutention de matériel selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel le dispositif capable d'être mis en prise avec une charge (151, 152) comprend deux éléments espacés latéralement destinés à être mis en prise avec une charge.
  13. Instrument de manutention de matériel selon la revendication 12, dans lequel chaque élément comprend une fourche.
  14. Instrument de manutention de matériel selon la revendication 13, dans lequel chaque fourche comprend un bras (151a, 152a) s'étendant généralement vers le bas relié à proximité d'une extrémité à la barre et comportant à l'autre extrémité, ou à proximité de celle-ci, une dent (151b, 152b) s'étendant vers l'avant pour être mise en prise avec une charge.
  15. Instrument de manutention de matériel selon la revendication 14, dans lequel les moyens de déplacement latéral (162, 163) comprennent deux éléments de déplacement latéral qui peuvent comprendre chacun un dispositif à piston et vérin.
  16. Instrument de manutention de matériel selon la revendication 15, dans lequel les deux éléments de déplacement latéral (162, 163) sont interconnectés par un élément qui est monté de manière non coulissante par rapport au support (125).
  17. Instrument de manutention de matériel selon la revendication 16, dans lequel l'élément d'interconnexion est un élément qui fournit une paire de tiges de piston (162a, 163a), une pour chaque vérin, et est relié de manière non coulissante au support (125) à une position contiguë à son point médian.
  18. Instrument de manutention de matériel selon la revendication 16 ou la revendication 17, dans lequel la barre (153) est supportée dans une fente (135) d'un élément de support (134) à proximité de son point médian.
  19. Instrument de manutention de matériel selon l'une quelconque des revendications 16 à 18, dans lequel l'élément interconnectant les moyens de déplacement latéral est supporté dans une fente (136) d'un élément de support (134) à proximité de son point médian.
  20. Instrument de manutention de matériel selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel la barre (153) est montée de manière amovible sur le support (125).
  21. Instrument de manutention de matériel selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel la barre (153) est montée dans des fentes (137, 138) prévues sur le support (125) au niveau de ses extrémités ou à proximité de celles-ci.
  22. Instrument de manutention de matériel selon la revendication 21, dans lequel les fentes prévues sur le support comprennent deux fentes espacées transversalement (137, 138), la barre (153) comportant à ses extrémités opposées des pièces (56, 157) qui sont montées dans une fente associée (137, 138) pour effectuer ledit mouvement vers le haut et vers le bas.
  23. Instrument de manutention de matériel selon la revendication 22, dans lequel le support (125) est pourvu d'un élément de verrouillage pouvant être actionné manuellement (139, 140) pour retenir, dans sa position de fonctionnement, l'une desdites pièces (156, 157) dans sa fente associée (137, 138).
  24. Véhicule de manutention de matérial comprenant une structure comportant des moyens de propulsion capables de se mettre en prise avec le sol et des moyens de manutention de matériel comprenant une flèche montée sur la structure pour effectuer un mouvement oscillant d'élévation et d'abaissement par rapport à la structure et entraínés dans ledit mouvement d'élévation et d'abaissement par des premiers moyens d'entraínement et ladite flèche étant extensible et étant entraínée en extension ou en rétraction par des seconds moyens d'entaínement et un instrument de manutention de matériel selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 23 supporté par une partie d'extrémité extérieure de ladite flèche.
