Claims (21)

  1. An input terminal for a comb-shaped bus bar, in particular for modular electrical apparatuses, of the kind comprising an active conducting portion (16) and, at least partially covering same, an insulating casing (17), said active portion (16) in itself forming on the one hand a connection stud (18) which, to permit the engagement of an electrical conductor (19) to be connected, is provided in line with an opening (20) in the insulating casing (17) with at least one conductor entry (21) and on the other hand a conduction tongue portion (22) which, intended to be in at least locally superposed relationship with a tooth (13) of the bus bar (11) for contact therewith, projects out of the insulating casing (17), the connection stud (18) of the active portion (16) having at least two conductor entries (21), the insulating casing (17) comprising jointly at least two openings (20) each in respective corresponding relationship with the two conductor entries (21) of the connection stud (18) of the active portion (16), characterised in that there is associated with the insulating casing at least one closure shutter (26) capable of closing one of said openings (20) as required.
  2. An input terminal according to claim 1 characterised in that the two conductor entries (21) of the connection stud (18) of the active portion (16) are aligned in back-to-back relationship in an alignment direction (D1), in relation to which the conduction tongue portion (22) extends transversely.
  3. An input terminal according to claim 2 characterised in that, the connection stud (18) of the active portion (16) having a screwthreaded bore (24) which transversely intersects its conductor entries (21), the alignment direction (D1) of said conductor entries (21) is perpendicular to the plane passing through the axis (A) of said screwthreaded bore (24) and the elongation direction (D2) of the conduction tongue portion (22).
  4. An input terminal according to any one of claims 1 to 3 characterised in that the closure shutter (26) is permanently in adjoining relationship with the insulating casing (17).
  5. A connecting terminal according to claim 4 characterised in that the closure shutter (26) is permanently pivotably mounted to the insulating casing (17).
  6. An input terminal according to any one of claims 1 to 5 characterised in that the insulating casing (17) comprises an upper bell-shaped portion (35), by which it is adapted to cover the connection stud (18) of the active portion (16), and a bottom flap (36) which, pivotably mounted to the upper portion (35) along a face (38) thereof, is capable of extending below said connection stud (18).
  7. An input terminal according to claims 5 and 6 in combination characterised in that the closure shutter (26) is pivotably mounted to the bottom flap (36).
  8. An input terminal according to claim 7 characterised in that the closure shutter (26) is pivotably mounted to the bottom flap (36) by a hinge zone (44) parallel to the conduction tongue portion (22),
  9. An input terminal according to either one of claims 7 and 8 characterised in that the openings (20) of the insulating casing (17) are formed by notches involving two opposite faces (39) of its upper portion (35) on respective sides of that one (38) along which the bottom flap (36) is pivotably mounted and provided between said closure shutter (26) and said upper portion (35) are latching means capable of holding said closure shutter (26) in the closing-off position.
  10. An input terminal according to any one of claims 4 to 9 characterised in that the insulating casing (17) comprises two closure shutters (26) each respectively associated with its two openings (20).
  11. An input terminal according to claims 7 and 10 in combination characterised in that the two closure shutters (26) are pivotably mounted to the bottom flap (36) of the insulating casing (17) along two opposite sides of said bottom flap (36).
  12. An input terminal according to claim 7 characterised in that latching means are operative between the bottom flap (36) and the upper portion (35) of the insulating casing (17).
  13. An input terminal according to any one of claims 1 to 12 characterised in that, the conduction tongue portion (22) of the active portion (16) successively comprising two parts (28, 29) as considered from the connection stud (18), namely a root part (28) and an end part (29), the insulating casing (17) comprises two lateral prolongations (51, 52), one being an upper prolongation and the other a lower prolongation, by way of which it is capable of enclosing the root part (28) of said conduction tongue portion (22).
  14. An input terminal according to claim 13 characterised in that the lower lateral prolongation (52) of the insulating casing (17) is pivotably mounted to its upper lateral prolongation (51) by a hinge zone (54) parallel to the conduction tongue portion (22).
  15. An input terminal according to claims 6 and 14 in combination characterised in that the lower lateral prolongation (52) of the insulating casing (17) is adjoining the bottom flap (36).
  16. An input terminal according to any one of claims 13 to 15 characterised in that latching means are operative between the two lateral prolongations (51, 52) of the insulating casing (17).
  17. An input terminal according to any one of claims 1 to 16 characterised in that, the conduction tongue portion (22) of the active portion (16) successively comprising two parts (28, 29) as considered from the connection stud (18), namely a root part (28) and an end part (29), the end part (29) is of a thickness (E2) greater than that (E1) of the root part (28).
  18. An input terminal according to claim 17 characterised in that the end part (29) of the conduction tongue portion (22) comprises an over-thickness (E'2, E"2) on both of its two main faces (30, 31).
  19. An input terminal according to claim 18 characterised in that the over-thickness (E'2) on the upper main face (30) of the end part (29) of the conduction tongue portion (22) is larger than the over-thickness (E"2) on the lower main face (31) thereof.
  20. An input terminal according to any one of claims 17 to 19 characterised in that the conduction tongue portion (22) is overall rectilinear.
  21. An input terminal according to any one of claims I to 16 characterised in that the conduction tongue portion (22) is of equal thickness and elbow-bent.
