- This passage in a baffle causes a reduction in the leakage rate, a substantially horizontal flow of air at the exit of the passage and therefore penetration of the air into the mass of waste and its contribution to the combustion thereof and finally opposes the fall of fine solid particles which tend on the contrary to clog it.
