Abstract

The unballasted rail track is laid down in a trough shaped casing (1) having four vertical walls and a bottom and a rubber shock absorbing base plate (4) which is encastred on a rail support. The casing has a succession of bellows (2) enabling its dimensions to be varied by either expanding or contracting. These bellows are located on the vertical walls and on the casing bottom so as to enable variation of the casing length, breadth and height. The shock absorbing base plate width, which accounts for mounting play, is equal to the maximum possible width of the casing internal bottom after completely stretching the bellows.

Description

The present invention relates to the field of mechanics and more particularly to means of transport.

It relates more precisely to a method of building railways.

Specifically, it relates to a device for laying railways without ballast.

It consists of a concrete sleeper (5) on which a sealed envelope (6) has been partially embedded, most often in rubber, comprising 4 vertical walls and a bottom on which has been placed a shock absorbing sole (7) most often also in rubber. The assembly comprising the envelope and the shock absorbing sole is called a liner. After fixing (8) (8 ') the rails (9) (9') on the sleepers (5) equipped with their liner (6) (7), the track thus produced is lifted, for example using jacks , and, after geometric adjustment of the rails, is concreted (10).

Such a system with concrete sleepers and rubber slippers is easily achievable, since the manufacturing tolerances of these components are sufficiently low to allow finished parts to be properly adjusted to one another. In addition, concrete and rubber are not very sensitive materials, under normal conditions of use, to variations in their dimensions.

Unfortunately it is not the same when you want to use wooden sleepers instead of concrete sleepers. The wooden sleepers, are very sensitive to the loss or the resumption of humidity, they can vary in dimensions by several centimeters in the direction of the length compared to a given nominal value, from the moment of their making up to their use on site; it then becomes impossible to fit them correctly into the slippers.

However, it turns out that in many countries the construction of railway lines does not use concrete sleepers because there is no local manufacture or because the user network prefers the sleepers at the same time wooden material. The problem is more acute in countries where there are significant variations in humidity, where the level is very high. The installation of wooden sleepers then poses difficult problems to solve.

This is why various technical solutions have been implemented to overcome this problem, such as:
  • we come to embed a long slipper open at its 2 ends against the wooden crosspiece. After cutting the envelope and the sole to the length of the cross, we just nail a rubber plate at each end of the cross and caulk the edges with adhesive tape.

This operation, carried out on the assembly site, is long, tedious, costly in terms of labor, and does not allow precise adjustment in the state of the art, which can lead to detrimental consequences with regard to the desired performances. and the sustainability of the editing. Another solution is that we come to fit 2 half-slippers open each at one end, against each end of the wooden crosspiece. These 2 half slippers having a total cumulative length greater than that of the wooden cross member, oblige to use a surplus of rubber, which comes to be superimposed at one place of the cross member. This surplus is cut for example with a cutter and the 2 half slippers then come together to edge; they are then cold bonded.

This operation is also carried out on the assembly site, it is long, tedious and costly in labor. To put the 2 half-slippers side by side, it requires extremely precise cutting quality often incompatible with site conditions. In addition, the glue used to bond the rubber is extremely sensitive to ambient temperature. This assembly does not correspond either to the rules of the art, and as for the previous assembly it can lead to detrimental consequences concerning the desired performances and the durability of the assembly.

The invention therefore proposes to embed in a wooden cross a slipper consisting of an envelope and a shock absorbing sole which is placed in the bottom of this envelope, while remedying the aforementioned drawbacks and overcoming dimensional variations of wood. The envelope has bellows on one or more sides allowing variations.

It therefore consists of a mounting device formed by a trough-shaped envelope comprising 4 vertical walls and a bottom, having one or more successions of bellows on its 2 side walls and on its bottom, and a shock absorbing sole in rubber whose length is equal to the maximum possible length of the bottom interior of the envelope after complete stretching of the bellows, and the envelope then comes to be partially or completely embedded on a support of railway rails used for a track without ballast.

According to a characteristic of the invention, the device comprises on the envelope, in particular of rubber, one or more successions of bellows so as to be able to vary the length of the envelope by traction or by contraction. These bellows are protruding either outward or inward or both. This envelope is made in such a way that its minimum length and its maximum length are compatible with the length of the wooden cross member associated therewith, while taking account of the foreseeable dimensional variations of said wooden cross member.

The cushioning sole disposed on the bottom of the envelope is intended, at the time of installation, to match the entire length of the bottom of the envelope, taking into account the mounting clearances, so as to satisfy the cases extreme length of use. In the case where the length of the crosspiece does not justify the complete stretching of the envelope, the sole is cut to the desired length at the mounting site. As we do not know in advance the length of the envelope, the maximum length of the sole is provided and a cutout is made to adjust and allow the wall to have whatever the extension, the same thickness.

Such an arrangement makes it possible to obtain laying conditions without ballast equivalent to that described previously with the use of concrete sleepers, but thus makes it possible to produce a system as described for concrete sleepers with wooden sleepers. It thus makes it possible, by overcoming the tolerances in the variations in dimensions of the woods, to remedy the drawbacks mentioned above concerning the existing solutions.

Figures 1, 2 and 3 show sectional views of the device of the invention showing by way of example, 3 states of presentation which can be achieved depending on the use made of it. These figures illustrate a preferred embodiment given by way of example, the invention not being limited to this embodiment. In particular the reliefs (waves, zig zag, accordion, etc ...), can have all the common shapes, all the frequencies and all the sizes, and can be located on all or part (s) of the walls and the bottom of the envelope, continuously or discontinuously.

Figure 1 shows a sectional view of the envelope (1) provided with a succession of bellows (2) before stretching thereof. It represents the finished envelope as it leaves the manufacturing, this is why it is represented without the sole. But it can be used on track in this state, in the case where the length of the wooden crosspiece in which it must be embedded, corresponds exactly to it. It will then be necessary to place a sole there.

La longueur ajustée de l'enveloppe a été définie en fonction de la longueur de la traverse en bois qui doit lui être associée.2 shows a sectional view of the same envelope (1) after partial stretching of the bellows (2), where was placed on its bottom the cushioning sole (4). The adjusted length of the envelope has been defined according to the length of the wooden crosspiece which must be associated with it.

Figure 3 shows a sectional view of the same envelope (1) after complete stretching of the bellows, where was placed on its bottom, the shock absorbing sole (4). This complete stretching was made necessary by the length of the wooden crosspiece which must be associated with it.

According to particular, currently preferred embodiments, the invention can also be defined by the following partial characteristics:
  • The envelope can be made in a single piece, for example molded, or can be made by assembling several parts together, by gluing, welding, vulcanization ..., provided that this assembly has the same technical characteristics and performance as a unique molded piece.
  • The sole may be in one piece or may consist of several pieces placed end to end on the bottom of the envelope.
  • The envelope and / or the sole can be made of any material other than rubber, for example plastics, cork, cork knives, etc.

The invention as described so far proposes to allow a variation in the dimensions of the length of the envelopes. However, there is an advantage in allowing a dimensional variation in the width or the height of these envelopes. Indeed the installation of track devices requires the use of sleepers of different dimensions, which in addition are not standardized, each Railway Administration having its own requirements in this area. There is therefore an interest in wanting to limit the number of models of envelopes that have to adapt to each type of sleeper in order to reduce costs, and facilitate assembly and inventory management. The invention responds to this interest by allowing the same envelope to be used on crosspieces of different dimensions by adapting the successions of reliefs which are the subject of the invention:
  • * to allow the length of the envelope to be varied: as already described
  • * to allow the width of the envelope to be varied: by successions of bellows on its bottom and on its 2 vertical end walls.
  • * in this way it is possible to vary the height of the envelope by successions of bellows on the 4 vertical walls.
  • * it is also possible to combine these different possibilities of dimensional variations (length, width, height) together on the same envelope.

In the context of the present invention the device can be applied to other embodiments of railways without ballast than that described for laying track apparatus on wooden sleepers, and said field of application extends in particular in association with other rail supports such as:
  • * monobloc sleepers in a material other than wood such as concrete, metal, plastics such as EVA.
  • * sleepers with several blocks connected to each other and made of any material such as concrete, wood, plastics, metal
  • * independent blocks made of any material such as concrete, wood, plastics, metal

The invention can be used for all applications of railway tracks without ballast, such as for example for the installation of track apparatus, the laying of common tracks; the ballast can be replaced by any other suitable material such as concrete, asphalt, resin-based mixtures.
