Definitions

  • a fire extinguisher of this type in which the means of receipt of the additive consist of a cartridge housed inside the tank under conditions suitable for isolating the additive from the liquid to be sprayed, on the other hand, and pressurized propellant, on the other hand, as long as the lid of the bottle has not been perforated and to communicate the interior of the cartridge with the inside of the cistern after perforation of the cover thereof, so that the propellant pressure comes to apply to inside the additive cartridge.
  • the wall of it is weakened locally, so that it opens under this pressure, a mixture occurs of the additive to the liquid to be sprayed and that it establishes on the mixture a gas pressure tending to expel this mixing through the outlet for the liquid to be sprayed, of way controlled by action of an operator on the means sealing or opening this outlet.
  • the object of the present invention is to remedy these disadvantages.
  • the invention provides a fire extinguisher of the type indicated in the preamble, characterized in that the means of receiving the additive are constituted by the bottle itself, which contains the gas pressure booster and additive without partitioning between them, so that the propellant drives the additive to the liquid to be sprayed, through the outlet for the propellant, when the cover has been perforated.
  • the additive is a liquid, which facilitates its complete expulsion and its mixing with the liquid to spray.
  • the entire expulsion of the additive is in further facilitated, in the case of a fire extinguisher intended for be used in a specific orientation in which the outlet for the propellant is turned upwards, if, according to a preferred embodiment, the bottle of flush has internally a waterproof dip tube of reassembled, tightly connected to the outlet for the propellant and opening down into an area bottom of the cistern, with reference to said orientation.
  • the gas propellant and additive cannot leave the bottle hunting only by ascending in this dip tube, towards the outlet for the propellant, and the propellant start by driving the additive out of the bottle flush, towards the liquid to be sprayed, before escaping himself from the cistern to put this liquid spraying under pressure; to ensure an eviction as complete as possible of the additive before the gas propellant does not escape from the cistern, we do preferably open the dip tube as low as possible in it.
  • Expulsion of the additive by pressurized gas after perforation of the seal may be sufficient energetic to ensure good dispersion of the additive in the liquid to be sprayed but you can also provide, according to a preferred embodiment of the invention, that the extinguisher includes means for favor this dispersion.
  • these means comprise, at inside the tank but outside the cork bottle, a waterproof dip tube of dispersion, tightly connected to the outlet for the propellant and opening down into the reservoir, preferably within the liquid to be sprayed, with reference to said orientation.
  • the tank has internally, outside the cork bottle, a waterproof ascent tube, tightly connected to the outlet for the liquid to spray and opening down into an area bottom of the tank, preferably as low as possible in this one, with reference to said orientation, to prevent access to the liquid to be sprayed, mixed additive, at the exit planned for him only by ascent to inside this dip tube.
  • a fire extinguisher can present two mutually juxtaposed dip tubes, one of which is connected to the outlet for the propellant, so as to favor the dispersion of the additive in the liquid to be sprayed after perforation of the lid of the bottle, and the other of which is connected to the outlet for the liquid to be sprayed, to ensure that that gas under pressure causes expulsion as a priority of the mixture of this liquid to be sprayed with the additive, by ascent to the outlet for the liquid to be sprayed, when it is opened under the control of a operator, before he can escape himself from the tank.
  • the dip tube does not have to be dispersion of the additive opens as low, in the tank, that the ascent tube of the mixture of spray liquid and additive.
  • the tube additive dispersion plunger opens inside tank noticeably higher than the dip tube upward movement of the mixture, for example halfway up the liquid to be sprayed, considering the fire extinguisher in said orientation, in order to ensure optimal dispersion additive in the liquid to be sprayed, without risk of direct passage of part of the additive between the tube dispersion plunger and riser tube to the outlet for the liquid to be sprayed.
  • the tank has a liquid filling port at spray and an attached cover, especially removable, on the tank and shutter so sealing the filling opening, the door in solidarity, in particular removable, the bottle of hunting which is dimensioned so as to be able to cross the filling opening.
  • the cover carries the means perforation controls, which simplifies considerably the realization of the tank and the maintenance operations.
  • Figure 1 is a view of a fire extinguisher according to the invention, in an orientation corresponding to its orientation of use, partly in elevation lateral and, with regard to the tank, in section along the axis of this tank.
  • Figure 2 shows, on a larger scale and with burst, the assembly formed in this fire extinguisher by the cover of the tank, the means of perforation, the bottle and outlet for liquid to spray mixed with additive, cut in two planes mutually offset, one of which merges with the plane of section of Figure 1 and the other of which is parallel to the axis of the tank.
  • Fire extinguisher 1 is produced by assembling two sub-assemblies, namely a tank or body 2, of a part, and of a cover 3 grouping together a certain number of components, on the other hand.
  • the reservoir 2 has a general form of revolution around an axis 4 which, in an orientation determined to use extinguisher 1, is vertical as illustrated in Figures 1 and 2 or form some degrees of angle of inclination from the vertical. This determined orientation of use of the fire extinguisher 1 will serve as a reference after the description.
  • the reservoir 2 has a side wall 5, a bottom wall 6, to which the wall 5 is connected in a lower zone 7, and a top wall 8, at which the wall 5 is connected in an upper zone 9.
  • tank 2 is filled a liquid to be sprayed 10, in particular water with or without anti-freeze, or other liquid, and the upper zone 9 of tank 2 contains air 11 at pressure atmospheric.
  • the top wall 8 is pierced with an orifice 12 of filling with liquid 10, delimited by a circular edge 13, coaxial with axis 4.
  • the cover 3 intended to be attached so removable on the tank 2 to close the orifice 12 with sealing, has a flat circular wall 14 in the flat lower face 17 of which is fitted a annular groove 15. This groove 15 is suitable for receiving the edge 13 and to be applied tightly on it by through a seal (not illustrated).
  • the cover 3 is fixed by a bolting 16 of this cover 3 to the top wall 8.
  • the face 17 delimits an area 18 extending in the perimeter of the orifice 12.
  • the upper face 19 of the wall 14 is also flat and includes a boss 20 projecting upwards, forming a body with the wall 14.
  • This boss 20 is pierced, on one side of the axis 4, of a liquid outlet conduit 21 10, having a mouth 22 located in zone 18 and an outlet 23 located in the upper part of the boss 20.
  • the mouth 22 is delimited by a rim annular 24, centered on an axis 25 which is offset by relative to axis 4 but is parallel to it. She is extends upwards by a cylindrical section 26 coaxial with axis 25, then by a section 27 also cylindrical and coaxial with axis 25, with a diameter slightly lower than that of section 26 so as to set an annular shoulder facing down at the junction of these two sections, then by a section cylindrical 28, leading to outlet 23, coaxial with a axis 29 coplanar with axes 4 and 25, moving away from axis 4 upwards and intersecting from axis 25 at the mutual junction of the two sections 27 and 28.
  • the mouthpiece 22 receives a straight, tight tube 30, the lower end 31 of which is bevelled and is located in the lower zone 7 of the tank 2, and whose upper end 32 is connected so tight at the edge 24, by fitting in the section 26.
  • the lower end 31 thus bathes with certainty in liquid 10 for a wide range of orientations extinguisher 1, even if there is only a bottom of liquid 10 in this tank 2, so that the tube 30 even ensures in such conditions the ascent of the liquid 10 to the outlet channel 21.
  • This conduit 21 is tapped and is tightly connected, by a threaded connection 33, to a flexible tube 34 provided with sealing means 35 and opening the tube 34.
  • sealing means 35 are controlled by a handle 36 and automatically recalled to the position of tight closure of the tube 34, and communicate with a liquid diffusion system 37 10.

  • the section 46 opens into the blind hole formed by the two sections 49 and 48, at the height of the section 48, and in section 45.
  • Section 45 extends coaxially towards the high, beyond the connection of the section 46, by a bore 50 centered on axis 42, which opens into the open air in the upper face 19.
  • This bore 50 has a diameter lower than that of section 45 and defines with the latter a downward-facing annular shoulder frustoconical narrowing upwards.
  • the bore 50 receives and guides in sliding a rod 51 comprising a seal 52 which preserves the seal between the duct 38 and the air ambient.
  • this rod 51 has a hemispherical upper end 53, around of which the boss 20 forms a yoke comprising two arm 54.

  • the section 45 is tapped between the mouth 39 and the connection of the section 46, for allow a screwed mounting of the flush bottle 66.
  • the hunting bottle 66 in the position which it occupies when it is thus connected to the mouth 39, is centered on the axis 42. It is delimited by a cylindrical side wall 67, having a outer diameter much smaller than the diameter inside the side wall 5 of the tank 2 so as to occupy only a negligible part of the section of it and to be able to be introduced and extracted by the orifice 12, together with the ascent tube 30, when fitting or removing cover 3 on the tank 2. Downward, the wall 67 is connected to a hemispherical bottom wall 68 defining a zone lower 69, while, upwards, it connects to a hemispherical wall of vertex 70 defining a zone upper 71.
  • the wall 70 is connected to a tubular neck 72, projecting upwards and open by an orifice 73 of propellant 64 and additive 65 outlet.

  • the face 76 is threaded to receive, by screwing, a cylindrical sleeve 78 having a face cylindrical inner 79 suitably tapped.
  • This face 79 connects upwards, via a planar annular shoulder 80, perpendicular to the axis 42 and turned downwards, to a cylindrical inner face 81 having a diameter smaller than the respective diameters of the face 79 and the section 45 but greater than the diameter outside of needle 60.
  • the sleeve 78 seals the lid 74 between the shoulder 80 and the edge 77 for closing the orifice 73 of watertight, and provides a solid bond but removable from the hunting bottle 66 with the mouthpiece 39, by screwing, by an outer cylindrical face 82 which presents a net complementary to that of the face inside of section 45, inside of this section 45 by surrounding the needle 60 without contact.
  • the faces 81 and 82 are connected by a plane annular edge 83, perpendicular to the axis 42.
  • the face 82 is connects to a planar annular shoulder 84, facing high and perpendicular to the axis 42.
  • This shoulder 84 is intended to bear against the rim 41 and to limit thus screwing the sleeve 78 to a position in which the edge 83 remains set back from the connection from section 46 to section 45.
  • the shoulder 80 and, with it, the cover 74 occupies a position such as the needle 60 is located above the cover 74, at a certain distance from it, as long as the rod 51 occupies its above-mentioned high position.
  • the shoulder 84 corresponds to the shoulder 80 and, around the face 79, the sleeve 78 has a face outer device 85 of polygonal section, perpendicular to axis 42, to facilitate the use of a wrench to screw or unscrew the sleeve 78 compared to the rim 41 or the cork bottle 66; downwards, this face 85 is connected to face 79 by a lower annular edge 86 plane, perpendicular to axis 42.

  • the handle 56 being immobilized in its position high by the pin 58 and the rod 51 being itself in high position, the cover 74 is intact and closed so tightens the hunting bottle 66; any communication is also closed between the tube 34 and the diffusion 37, by the sealing means 35.
  • the operator After removing the pin 58, the operator holds extinguisher 1 in the position illustrated in the figures or in a close position and prints to the handle 56 a tilting down, which causes cam 57 to press against end 53 and cause sliding of the rod 51 downwards, with needle 60 in contact with the cover 74 then perforation of the latter, which releases pressurized gas 64 and additive 65 contained in the hunting bottle 66.
  • the size of the needle 60, along the axis 42, from the flange 59 is suitably chosen so that the perforation of the cover 74 can occur completely and for that it still remains after this perforation, between the edge 83 and the flange 59, sufficient passage for the gas 64 and additive 65.
  • the interior of the bottle 66 is thus put in communication with the conduit 38 and, by through it, the hollow needle 60 and orifice 62, with the rest of the tank 2.
  • the propellant 64 causes the expulsion of the additive 65, which rises through the dip tube 88, runs through the conduit 38, descends through the tube 87, and reaches the liquid 10 with which it mixes; the gas 64 itself, following the same course, then spreads to inside the tank 2 to pressurize the mixture of liquid 10 and additive 65.
  • the operator can then, by action on the handle 36, release the mixture of liquid 10 as desired and of additive 65, which rises through the tube 30 under pressure gas 64 and escapes, in a controlled manner by action of the handle 36, by the diffusion system 37 which ensures the dispersion.
  • Fire extinguisher 1 when empty or practically empty liquid vacuum 10, can be refilled by dismantling the cover 3, filling with liquid 10 through orifice 12, replacement of the hunting bottle 66 and the cover 74, and reassembly of the cover 3 thus re-equipped.
