Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for the selective, area-wise coating of a transparent carrier plate with a metallic active layer, in which the metallic active layer is first applied flat in the areas to be coated, and to a subsequently coated, transparent carrier plate, in particular for a display box.
A number of such coating processes are well known.
For example, DE-PS 33 37 128 and DE-PS 38 08 268 disclose a process in which a cover film, preferably by screen printing, is applied to the areas not to be coated on the carrier plate, and then the entire surface the carrier plate is provided with an embossing film coating containing the active layer, whereupon the covering film and the embossing film coating arranged thereon are finally removed, so that the active layer only remains on the carrier plate in the areas to be coated.
Furthermore, a coating method is known from DE-OS 44 38 536, in which the active layer is first applied to the surface of the carrier plate, then a cover film is applied in the areas to be coated and then the active layer not protected by the cover film is etched away in an etching process .
It is also known to apply the active layer over a large area and to obtain the desired motif by laser radiation. For example, DE-OS 43 33 546 discloses a method in which the active layer in the areas to be coated is connected to the carrier plate by laser radiation, while, for example, DE-OS 195 12 157 describes targeted lasering.
Die DE-PS 37 08 577 offenbart eine elektrisch beheizbare und Wärmestrahlen reflektierende Autoglasscheibe, die dadurch hergestellt werden kann, daß auf eine Glasscheibe zunächst eine gleichmäßig durchgehende Schicht aufgebracht wird und später Teile der Schicht wieder, beispielsweise in einem geeigneten Ätzverfahren oder mit Hilfe eines Laserstrahls, entfernt werden, um ein elektrisch leitendes Netzwerk mit einer 40 %-igen Metallflächendeckung zur Einstellung einer gewünschten Transmission bei einem ausreichenden Reflexionsvermögen zu erhalten.DE-PS 37 08 577 discloses an electrically heatable and heat-reflecting automobile glass pane which can be produced by first applying a uniformly continuous layer to a glass pane and later parts of the layer again, for example in a suitable etching process or with the aid of a laser beam , are removed in order to obtain an electrically conductive network with a 40% metal surface coverage for setting a desired transmission with a sufficient reflectivity.
A laminated decorative glass is known from EP-OS 0 686 496, in which a printing ink network comprising ceramic-colored glass mass and glass powder is applied directly to a glass pane.
In addition, EP-PS 0 396 449 discloses glazing, in particular a windshield for motor vehicles, with at least one filter zone which attenuates light and heat radiation, the filter zone being formed from a transparent coating from a stoving paint which is screen-printed to form a strictly geometric grid is applied.
Furthermore, it is well known to obtain a coating in regions by vapor deposition, for example using a mask. Stamps are also used in the prior art for area-by-area coating.
Although the known methods for applying a metallic active layer to a transparent carrier plate in certain areas have proven themselves in practice, they have disadvantages in that they deform the coated carrier plate due to the different elasticity of the transparent carrier plate and the active layer and secondly when Irradiation or heating due to the different thermal expansion of the transparent carrier plate and the active layer and due to the different heating on the one hand of the areas coated with the active layer and on the other hand of the remaining areas, the areas provided with the coating heating up less strongly due to the reflectivity of the metallic active layer, damage to the active layer can occur.
The invention is therefore based on the object of further developing the generic method in such a way that damage to the active layer when forces or potentials are applied, in particular in the form of deformation, radiation and / or heating, is reduced to the coated carrier plate.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that essentially visually non-discriminatory relief openings are introduced in the areas coated with the metallic active layer.
Subclaims 2 to 15 describe preferred embodiments of the method according to the invention.
A preferred method according to the invention thus describes the application of a color layer to the metallic active layer after the relief openings have been introduced. The color layer can comprise a color by means of which the color tone, which is actually caused by the metallic active layer, is modified becomes.
The invention is also based on the object of providing a transparent carrier plate which is coated in certain areas with a metallic active layer, the coating of which is particularly stable.
This object is achieved according to the invention by a coated, transparent carrier plate according to claim 16.
A preferred exemplary embodiment is characterized in that the coated, transparent carrier plate forms at least part of at least one wall of a display box, in particular in the form of a light advertising element, such as a box letter, which comprises at least one light source in its interior.
Weitere bevorzugte Ausführungsformen der Erfindung finden sich in den Unteransprüchen 18 und 20.Further preferred embodiments of the invention can be found in subclaims 18 and 20.
- Due to the existence of halftone dots, with or without an active layer, in the coated areas, stretching and / or shearing can be caused by deformation of the transparent carrier plate together with the coating are more balanced by the coating, so that internal stresses in the coating are considerably reduced.
- Internal stresses during heating or irradiation are further reduced by the fact that there are no large temperature gradients between the coated and uncoated areas of the transparent carrier plate due to the reflective properties of the metallic active layer, since immediately adjacent points, which alternately have a coating and no coating, ensure temperature compensation.
- Even if internal stresses damage the metallic active layer, the extent of the damage is minimized by the fact that tearing and / or detachment can remain reduced to a coated point.
- In addition, the carrier plate coated in this way reflects in the areas having the metallic active layer in plan view, while a view through is also possible, so that both the reflectivity and the transmissivity can be set and a suitable choice of the material and the thickness of the active layer and the light wavelength A variety of color and light effects can be realized, especially if an additional layer of color is applied. This color layer can also, at least in some areas, modify the color tone per se caused by the metallic active layer.
Due to the high stability of its coating and the many possible color and light effects due to the coating, a transparent carrier plate coated according to the invention is good for forming a display box, in particular for advertising purposes. suitable. Additional light and color effects can also be obtained through a specially shaped neon tube, which can shine through the transparent carrier plate coated according to the invention.
