Definitions
- the present invention relates to a snowshoe and more particularly an improvement of its sieve.
- Snowshoes have been known for a long time many years because used for several centuries by Scandinavian people to move on the snow. Until our days, snowshoes were used for utility or military purposes, to allow the populations and the alpine troops to move on the snow for their daily necessities. Currently, snowshoes are used more by athletes who go on hikes and walks, or even competitions. But athletes, although practicing for their pleasure, are more and more demanding for the material they use, and it is true that the products currently sold are not entirely satisfactory, and especially during progression on snow.
- the present invention provides a new racket combining both good performance in hanging and resting on the ground, while allowing an easy progression as well on the climbs as in the descents.
- the snowshoe comprises a frame peripheral delimiting an interior zone or sieve constituted by a set of internal support walls and is characterized in that one at less of the support walls extends transversely and is constituted by a transverse profile forming a box open downwards comprising at minus a portion of the front wall extending forward and downward and a rear wall portion extending rearward and downward, both wall portions being converging upwards.
- the profile extends transversely and has a general transverse axis.
- the profile is symmetrical with respect to its general transverse axis, or is asymmetrical.
- the width of the wall (s) support varies between the central part and the peripheral frame, for par example decrease from the center to the peripheral frame.
- the thickness of the portion (s) of front wall and / or rear of the support wall (s) and / or the height may vary.
- borders of the front wall portion and the rear wall portion can be in the same horizontal plane, or in different planes.
- the racket designated under the general reference (1) is in the form of an openwork plate of general plane of symmetry (P), fixed under the shoe and which consists a peripheral frame (2), consisting of at least one wall peripheral delimiting an interior zone or sieve (4), comprising a set of internal walls supporting the fixing (5) intended to retain the user's shoe (6).
- P general plane of symmetry
- Said peripheral frame has a generally elongated shape possibly extending at the rear by a wide tail (7) reduced, while the front can be advantageously raised and shaped substantially pointed to form the front spatula (8).
- the general shape of said racket could be different, like, by example, with a rounded front, or having no tail, for example, without departing from the scope of the invention.
- said screen (4) with its set of internal walls forms a general lower surface of support on snow allowing the user not to sink too far into the snow thanks to the bearing surface relatively large sieve.
- the fixing (5) intended for retain the shoe is, according to the illustration given by way of example, articulated with respect to the sieve (4) of the racket itself, according to a transverse axis (XX ').
- said attachment carrying the general reference (5) consists of an articulated plate (9) comprising shoe retaining means, namely front retaining means (10) for retaining the front end (11) of the shoe and rear retaining means (12) for retaining the rear end (13) of said shoe.
- the screen (4) consists, at least in part, of a succession support walls (40) extending transversely, of course serve as a support surface on the snow but also connect the central part (14) supporting the attachment (5) to the peripheral frame (2).
- all of the walls support (40) connects the central part (14) to the frame (2); however, some of them may only extend transversely over a reduced length and not be connected to said frame.
- the transverse support walls (40) are advantageously each consisting of a profile forming a box open at the bottom, said profile having a general transverse axis (YY ') and being formed by a succession of walls comprising at least a portion of front wall (40a) extending forward (AV) and downward (BA) and a portion of rear wall (40b) extending rearward and downward, both wall portions (40a) and (40b) being converging upwards.
- AV forward
- BA forward
- a portion of rear wall (40b) extending rearward and downward
- both wall portions (40a) and (40b) being converging upwards.
- only a few walls (40) could have this box shape.
- the boxes are advantageously curved upwards thanks to the rounded shape of the cross section of the portions of front walls (40a) and rear wall portions (40b), as shown figure 4.
- the shape of the cross section of said bearing walls (40) can be different, without however, go beyond the scope of protection of said request.
- We will mean by cross section a section parallel to the plane P, that is to say transverse to the axis YY 'of each of the profiles.
- the section can, for example, be V-shaped open downwards (BA), the wall (40) then being formed by two front (40a) and rear portions (40b) substantially planar, having an angle between them, or forming a U, also open downwards (BA), thanks to a central portion (40c) flat and horizontal laterally bordered by a front portion (40a) and rear (40b) flat and oblique, as illustrated in FIGS. 6a and 6b.
- BA open downwards
- said support walls (40) are delimited by a upper external surface (41a) and a lower external surface (41b) forming their outer envelope, said surfaces possibly having a profile different in cross section, the lower surface (41b) being able to form an inverted U profile, and the upper surface (41a) a rounded profile, as illustrated in Figure 6c.
- the walls support (40) have a cross section of curved shape towards the high and their upper (41a) and lower (41b) external surfaces are substantially parallel to each other so as to maintain a thickness constant in cross section, as shown in Figure 4.
- said thickness can be variable by part or over the entire cross section, the wall portions front (40a) which can be thicker than the rear wall portions (40b), as shown in Figure 4a or vice versa, as shown in Figure 4b where the front portion (40a) is thinner than the portion rear (40b).
- the central portion (40c) connecting the front portion (40a) and the rear portion (40b) may be thicker than said front portions (40a) and rear (40b), as illustrated in Figures 4c and 6c, for example.
- the thickness of the walls can be constant longitudinally with respect to the profile along the transverse axis (YY ') as illustrated in figure 5 but can also vary as, for example example, to be thicker in the vicinity of the plane P and to become thinner towards the peripheral frame (2), as illustrated in Figure 5a, or vice versa as as shown in Figure 5b where the thickness in the vicinity of the plane P is less important to increase towards the frame (2).
- Figure 7 is a sectional view along (CC) made at the transverse axis (YY '). It can be seen that the height (h) of the profile is constant, i.e. the height (h) is the same over the entire length of the profile. Of course, it could be otherwise and the height could be expected to be variable and, for example, decrease by the part central (14) towards the peripheral frame (2), as illustrated in FIG. 7a, or vice versa, increase from the central part (14) towards the frame device (2) as shown in Figure 7b.
- the width (1) of the profile constituting the support walls (40) decreases from the center towards the frame device, as shown in Figures 1 and 3.
- the width may increase from the center to the frame device as shown in Figure 8 or be constant as this is shown in Figure 8a or have a mixed configuration, as shown in Figure 8b.
- the shape of said support walls (40) may include, as illustrated in FIG. 3, a substantially transverse axis of symmetry (YY '), so the front (40a) and rear (40b) walls are symmetrical with respect to to this axis, or be totally asymmetrical, as in the mode of realization illustrated in figure 9.
- YY ' substantially transverse axis of symmetry
- front (40a) and rear (40b) wall portions have their respective lower borders (42a, 42b) located in the same horizontal plane, as illustrated in FIGS. 4, 4a, 4b, 4c, 6a, 6b and 6c. But he could be otherwise, as shown in Figures 10a and 10b.
- the lower edge (42a) of the front wall portion (40a) could be contained in a horizontal plane (H) of level lower than that containing the lower border (42b) of the portion of rear wall (40b), as shown in FIG. 10a or vice versa, the lower edge (42b) of the rear wall portion (40b) could be at a level lower than that of the lower border (42a) of the wall front (40a), as illustrated in FIG. 10b.
- two support walls (40) different may have the bottom edges of their wall portion front (40a) and / or rear (40b) contained in two horizontal planes different.
- the lower borders (42a, 42b) constituting the ends of the front and rear portions (40a, 40b), in other words by the intersection between the external surfaces upper and lower (41a, 41b) of the walls (40), are shaped rounded.
- said lateral borders could have an edge formed by an acute angle between the external surfaces (41a, 41b), without departing from the scope of the invention, such as illustrated in Figure 11.
- this border lateral edge may have a crenellated profile or have small teeth, allowing easier progression on a slope in hard snow.
- the peripheral frame (2) is advantageously constituted by a downwardly open profile formed by a wall (200) curved as for example substantially cylindrical, said wall not being closed on itself to form a box open at the bottom.
- Figure 12 is an alternative embodiment of the peripheral frame according to which the rim lower (201) of the outer wall portion (202) is lower than the lower edge (203) of the portion of the internal wall (204).
