Description

The invention relates to a telephone booth lighting unit and to a telephone booth comprising such a lighting unit.

A telephone booth lighting unit generally comprises a lamp, for example of the neon type, electrically powered from the mains and placed in the ceiling of a booth in order to light the interior thereof to allow the use of the public telephone of the "PUBLIPHONE" type (registered trademark) whatever the external light conditions. Such a lighting unit is installed inside a cabin for the main part of its lifespan, this lifespan being several years, or even several decades. The lighting unit of a cabin is generally separated from the interior of the latter by a translucent basin. This basin therefore protects the lighting unit from any act of vandalism; it also isolates the lighting unit from inside the cabin and therefore guarantees that a user of the public telephone will not be in contact with the electrical current from the sector circulating in the lamp or in its associated electrical supply device which may include high capacity components, such as, for example, the ballast or the starter of a neon lamp.

However, during the lifetime of a telephone booth, it is necessary to carry out maintenance operations on the lighting unit. For example, it may be necessary to disassemble the bowl to remove dead insects that have fallen after being burned by the lamp. Likewise, dust is deposited on the basin which must be cleaned periodically. Finally, the lamp in the lighting unit may no longer function and it is necessary to dismantle the basin in order to change the lamp in question. In all cases, once the bowl has been removed, the lighting unit is no longer isolated from the interior of the cabin. Given the current flowing in the lighting unit, it constitutes a dangerous device which can only be handled by specialized personnel who have the necessary authorization to do so.

However, the personnel who carry out routine maintenance operations inside telephone booths in public places generally depend on a cleaning company and do not have the necessary qualifications to work on devices deemed to be dangerous. Thus, the operations of cleaning the basin of a telephone booth can only be carried out by highly qualified personnel with a specific electrical certification. This increases all the more the cost of maintenance interventions on this type of device. Likewise, when the municipal services of a municipality detect that a lighting lamp in a telephone booth is defective, they must call on specialized personnel to intervene in the lighting block of the telephone booth.

By patent US-A-2 982 196, a telephone booth lighting unit is known in which an enclosure situated above a removable basin encloses the ballast and starters associated with several lighting blades.

In addition, the electrical or electronic power supply assemblies for the lamp of an electrical cabin lighting unit must comply with the directives on the electromagnetic compatibility of electrical devices. Thus, the radiation emitted by these systems must not disturb the operation of other electrical or electronic devices located nearby and in particular must not disturb the operation of the public telephone in the cabin. In the same way, it is important that the operation of this electrical supply system is not disturbed by the electromagnetic waves passing near the cabin.

We know that the ballasts and cables of a device for powering a lamp such as a neon lamp radiate. Indeed, the ballasts have a large inductance and the cables are equivalent to antennas, which, in both cases facilitates radiation.

Telephone booth lighting units of the prior art do not comply with the directives concerning the electromagnetic compatibility of electrical assemblies or electronic because they are made up of passive components to which these directives do not apply directly and which do not form a closed whole.

The invention therefore aims to provide a telephone booth lighting block in the vicinity of which or on which it is possible to intervene without any particular electrical qualification and which complies with the directives on electromagnetic compatibility.

In this spirit, the invention relates to a telephone booth lighting unit comprising at least one lamp, an associated power supply device, the lighting unit being separated from the interior of said booth by a removable bowl, and a cover separating the power supply device from the cabin, including when the bowl is removed or removed. This lighting unit is characterized in that the cover comprises a conductive layer connected to the ground.

Thanks to the invention, when a maintenance operator removes the bowl from the cabin, he cannot touch the lamp supply device of the lighting unit and therefore does not run any danger of electric shock because the lamp does not is not electrically dangerous in itself. The operator can therefore safely clean the basin and the light unit. It can even safely carry out an operation to change the lamp as a precaution or when it is no longer in working order. In addition, the cover separating the electrical supply device from the interior of the cabin contributes to the electromagnetic isolation of this device and thus makes it conform to the directives in the matter. Indeed, the cover constitutes a shielding of the electrical supply device of the lamp which makes it possible to guarantee the electromagnetic compatibility of the assembly.

According to a first embodiment of the invention, the cover is made of an electrically insulating material.

According to another embodiment of the invention, the cover is made of electrically conductive material. In this case, the conductive layer is produced by the same frame of the cover, which is particularly simple to produce and constitutes an effective electromagnetic shielding.

According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention and whatever the material used for the manufacture of the cover, it can be provided that the lamp supply device is mounted on the internal face of the cover.

For security reasons, provision can be made for the lighting unit of the invention to include means for fixing to the cabin, accessible without removing the cover, so that the whole unit can be removed from the cabin without direct access. to the power supply device.

According to another advantageous variant of the invention, the lighting unit comprises locking means capable of preventing the removal of the cover when the unit is installed in the cabin. Thus, it is necessary to dismantle the entire block of the cabin before being able to access the lamp's electrical supply device. This further contributes to improving the safety of the device since the electrical supply device is not accessible when it is energized. It can also be provided that the locking means are destructible during each removal of the cover.

According to another advantageous aspect of the invention, the block comprises means for supplying current to said supply device and said lamp able to be opened by dismantling said fixing means.

According to another advantageous variant of the invention, the block comprises at least two lamps supplied electrically in parallel, so that, if one of these lamps is broken, the cabin is still sufficiently lit to allow use public telephone. The two lamps can be of the neon gas type, of toric shape and arranged concentrically or of rectilinear shape and arranged in parallel.

According to another advantageous embodiment of the invention, the lighting unit comprises a deflector arranged between the lamps and the roof of the cabin.

The invention finally relates to a telephone booth comprising a lighting unit as described above.

  • La figure 2 est une vue à plus grande échelle du bloc d'éclairage de la figure 1 ;
  • La figure 3 est une vue en perspective du bloc d'éclairage de la cabine de la figure 1 ;
The invention will be better understood and other advantages of this will appear more clearly in the light of the following description of three embodiments of a telephone booth lighting unit in accordance with its principle, given solely by way of example and made with reference to the drawings appended in which :
  • Figure 1 is a block diagram of a telephone box incorporating a lighting unit according to the invention.
  • Figure 2 is an enlarged view of the lighting unit of Figure 1;
  • Figure 3 is a perspective view of the lighting unit of the cabin of Figure 1;
  • FIG. 4 is a perspective view of a lighting unit according to a second embodiment of the invention and
  • Figure 5 is a perspective view of a lighting unit according to a third embodiment of the invention.

The cabin 1 in FIG. 1 comprises a public telephone 2 housed inside an envelope, for example made of glass 3, and carried by a support post 4. The envelope 3 is delimited in its lower part by a floor 5 and in its upper part by a roof 6. As it appears more clearly in FIG. 2, a translucent basin 7 delimits the center of the upper part of the interior volume of the cabin. This basin may consist of one or more plates of a translucent material such as glass or a plastic material of the "PLEXIGLASS" type (registered trademark), removably mounted on rails 7 a and 7 b fixed against the walls of the cabin. The basin could also be constituted by a panel articulated by means of hinges on one of the rails 7 a or 7 b . Between the roof 6 and the basin 7 is disposed a lighting unit 8 essentially comprising two circular neon lamps 9 and 10 supplied in parallel and arranged concentrically in front of a reflector 11 intended to direct the light emitted by the lamps 9 and 10 towards the interior of the cabin through the basin 7. As can be seen in FIG. 3, the electrical supply devices for the lamps 9 and 10 include a ballast 12 and 12 'and a starter 13 and 13' respectively mounted in parallel on a quick connection terminal 14 to which a fuse holder block 15 is connected.

En effet, l'ensemble des pièces soumises à des tensions importantes est protégé par le capot 20.A cover 20 isolates the ballasts 12 and 12 ', the starters 13 and 13', the quick connection terminal 14 and the fuse holder 15 from inside the cabin, including when the bowl 7 is removed or folded down. Thus, a maintenance agent can intervene on the basin 7, or even change one of the lamps 9 or 10 without any risk of electric shock. In fact, all of the parts subjected to high tensions are protected by the cover 20.

Only two electrical connectors 21 and 21 'leave the volume defined by the cover 20 and the base 22 of the lighting unit through an orifice 23 and arrive through a second orifice 24 near the lamps 9 and 10. It is expected that the 'end of these connectors 21 and 21' is provided with a female socket whose plugs are embedded in a body of insulating material able to penetrate into an orifice of the lamps 9 and 10 provided with two male plugs, so that the male plugs cannot be touched by an operator who manipulates these lamps and that the ends of the connectors 21 and 21 'do not carry projecting parts supplied by the sector. This eliminates any danger of electric shock.

In this embodiment, the cover is made of an electrically insulating material such as a plastic material and its shape is given to it by thermoforming. According to the invention the inner face of the cover 20 is metallized, so that it is coated with a conductive layer 25 which can be connected to the earth potential by an electrical conductor 26 in contact with both the layer 25 and with the base 22 which is itself connected to the ground. According to another variant of the invention, the cover 20 can be provided with a conductive layer constituted by a metal plate matching the internal shape of the cover 20. Thus, the cover 20 constitutes a shielding of all the electrical components that it contains, so that the light unit can comply with the directives regarding the electromagnetic compatibility of electrical and electronic devices. The electromagnetic shielding obtained thanks to the invention is effective even when the bowl 7 is deposited or moved away from its normal position.

The base 22 is fixed to the roof 6 of the cabin by two screws 29 and 30 which are accessible without removing the cover 20. The whole of the lighting unit can therefore be removed from the cabin without the cover 20 being removed from the lighting unit. This further contributes to the security of the device.

The cover 20 is fixed to the base 22 on the one hand by a tongue 20 a which penetrates into a slot 22 a of the base 22 and on the other hand by an angle 22 b of the base 22 which is folded over a tab 20 b of the cover 20. In addition, the screws 29 and 30 pass through both the cover 20 and the base 22 so that it is not possible to extract the cover 20 from the lighting unit when the screws 29 and 30 are in place. In other words, the screws 29 and 30 are capable of preventing the cover from being dismantled when the block is installed in the cabin since, if the screws 29 and 30 are dismantled, the entire lighting unit does not is more integral with the roof 6.

By a judicious choice of the material of the base 22, it can be provided that the bracket 22 b is destroyed when the tongue 20 b and the bracket 22 b are disengaged. In this case, it can be guaranteed that any disassembly of the cover 20 relative to the base 22 will be easily detectable since the locking means are destructible during each disassembly of the cover 20. Thus, an approval of the entire device relative the directives relating to the electromagnetic compatibility of electrical or electronic assemblies could only be granted for an integral device, that is to say one that has never been dismantled.

Deux vis 79 et 80 fixent à la fois le capot 70 sur l'embase 72 et l'ensemble du bloc d'éclairage 58 sur le toit non représenté d'une cabine téléphonique.FIG. 4 represents a second embodiment of a telephone booth lighting unit according to the invention in which elements similar to those of the embodiment of FIGS. 1 to 3 bear identical references increased by 50. The unit lighting 58 differs from the previous one essentially in that the two lamps 59 and 60 are of rectilinear shape and arranged in parallel. The power devices associated with each of these lamps are mounted in the interval between these and are covered with a cover 70 whose function is identical to that of the cover 20 of the embodiment of Figures 1 and 2. Two screws 79 and 80 fix both the cover 70 on the base 72 and the entire lighting unit 58 on the roof, not shown, of a telephone box.

This unit lighting 108 differs from the previous ones essentially in that the cover 120 is made of an electrically conductive material such as for example steel, zinc, aluminum or an alloy of these bodies. The ballasts 112 and 112 ', the starters 113 and 113', a quick connection terminal 114 and a fuse holder block 115 are fixed on the internal or upper face of the cover 120, so that the lighting unit thus produced can be set up in one operation against the roof, not shown, of a telephone booth. The female plugs of the quick connector 114 are oriented upwards so that they can cooperate with the male plugs of an associated connector fixedly mounted on the cab roof. Two pins 130 and 131 are provided to penetrate holes in the roof of the cabin while two holes 132 and 133 are provided in the cover 120 to be crossed by fixing screws on the roof of the cabin.

When the screws passing through the holes 132 and 133 are loosened, the female quick connector 114 is automatically separated from the male connector with which it is associated, so that all of the elements carried by the cover 120 are switched off. An additional safety function is thus obtained insofar as the dismantling of the fixing means housed in the orifices 132 and 133 induces the opening of the supply line of the ballast 112 and 112 ', of the starters 113 and 113', of the fuse 115 and lamps 109 and 110.

In this embodiment, as the cover 120 is made of an electrically conductive material, it suffices to ground it to achieve particularly effective electromagnetic shielding in a very simple way. As in the embodiment of FIGS. 1 to 3, two lamps 109 and 110 of the neon gas type and of toric shape are arranged concentrically on the underside of the cover 120.

In the three embodiments shown, the lighting unit comprises two lamps mounted in parallel, which makes the telephone booth usable even if one of the two lamps in question is out of use. It is for this purpose that the reflector 11 is mounted between the lamps 9 and 10 and the roof 6. In fact, thanks to the reflector, it is possible to obtain sufficient brightness inside the cabin, ie from the 'order of 200 lux, when only one lamp with a power of about 60 watts is used, since the deflector 11 directs the light emitted by each of the lamps 9 and 10 towards the interior of the cabin. Although this is not shown in FIG. 4, it is possible to have a reflector between the lamps 59 and 60 and the base 72 of the second embodiment of the invention or between the lamps 109 and 110 and the cover 120 of the third embodiment, this reflector having a function identical to that of the reflector 11 of the embodiment of FIGS. 1 to 3.

It is understood that the invention can be used regardless of the number of lamps mounted in the lighting unit.
