Definitions
- the present invention relates to a device for erecting flat mail items according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
- belt systems In mail distribution systems, letters and similar flat items are conveyed in certain phases of the processing process by means of belt systems. These belt systems usually consist of an essentially horizontally arranged base belt and a cover belt consisting of upper and lower belt, between which the items are conveyed. The items are on one edge.
- the problem that arises when conveying such conveyor systems is that the items have an offset in height in the inclined position. Both can lead to disruptions in the further processing of the mail items, in particular to traffic jams and a displacement of the gaps between the mail items, which leads to damage.
- a possible solution to this problem would be to take advantage of the weight of the shipment and to allow the shipment to be aligned in a certain section of the tape system almost by itself under the influence of gravity. The shipment is released, so that there could be gaps in the gap. Alignment could also be prevented by electrostatically charging the mail items.
- the object of the present invention is to provide a device for aligning flat mailpieces which are conveyed by means of a belt system, in particular in which gaps between the mailpieces are avoided.
- the invention is based on the idea of frictionally grasping mail items during the alignment process by means of a controllable pair of rollers and, by changing the rotational speed or the orientation of the rollers, exerting a moment on the mail items that changes the position of the mail items relative to the conveyor system. This means that a straightening section is independent of its installation position.
- the device according to the invention it is possible to avoid gaps in the gap and also to process difficult types of mail. In particular, it prevents shipments from being damaged, and overall the susceptibility to faults of the entire mail distribution system is reduced.
- the in FIG. 1 has a belt system consisting of the base belt 1 and the cover belt 2, which conveys a flat mail item 3 standing on one edge. Rollers 4 are provided for guiding and driving the belts. In normal operation, the shroud has a nominal speed VN. A pair of rollers 5 and 6 with a common axis of rotation 7, which is arranged substantially perpendicular to the conveying direction of the mail items, are arranged above and below the cover band 2. Since the consignment 3 is only covered by the cover tape at the rear, the rollers 5 and 6 can rest against the consignment 3 and grasp them by friction.
- one of the rollers can preferably rotate at a speed corresponding to the nominal speed VN, while the second roller has a speed deviating therefrom V.
- the difference between the two speeds leads to the formation of a torque on the item, so that a position correction can be made if necessary.
- the upper friction roller 5 is driven by a servo motor; the lower roller sits directly on a hollow shaft on the motor axis with the nominal speed V n .
- This second roller is preferably driven by a belt 8 and a pulley 9, FIG. 2nd
- the position of the consignment is detected by two sensors 10 arranged in front of the pair of rollers 5, 6 in the conveying direction. Light barriers are preferably provided for this.
- a further sensor device 11 detects the position of the consignment while it is being gripped by the rollers 5 and 6.
- the sensors 10 and 11 are connected to the control electronics, not shown in FIGS. 1 and 2.
- a counter roller 13 which can be pivoted about an axis 14 and presses against the shroud 2, is moved away by a lifting magnet 12 as soon as the mailing is to be moved relative to the belt system.
- FIG. 3 shows a further embodiment of the invention with a pair of rollers 15, 16, which is arranged on a common pivotable axis 17.
- the axle sits on a chassis 19 which is articulated at a pivot point 18.
- the pivoting movement is preferably pivoted via a rack and a gear 21 driven by a servo or stepper motor.
- a motor 22 drives the axle 17 via a belt 23 and a pulley 24.
- FIG. 4 shows the device of FIG. 3 in top view.
- a spring-loaded counter-roller 25 is arranged opposite the pair of rollers 15, 16 in order to improve the friction-locked version of the consignment 3.
- the counter roller 25 is arranged on the same chassis as the pair of rollers 15, 16.
- the roller 25 is moved away by a lifting mgnet to facilitate the movement of the mail between the cover band 2.
- the rollers 15 and 16 are at a speed corresponding to the nominal speed Vn Rotational speed driven so that a gripped by the rollers 15 and 16 shipment can be moved by pivoting the axis of rotation 17.
- FIG. 5 shows the case of a shipment whose rear edge is raised.
- the rear edge of the mail item is moved in the direction of the base belt 2.
- the roller 5 is then driven at the speed Vn.
- Figure 5b shows the case of a shipment with the leading edge raised.
- 5c shows the case of a shipment that is raised horizontally on the base band, in this case there is a speed in the front area of the shipment V sent, which leads to a lowering of the rear edge of the broadcast. Then, as in FIG. 5b a speed + V applied, which leads to a lowering of the leading edge. During this straightening process, a shipment of rolls is gripped so that there is no gap shift between the shipments.

Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a device for erecting flat mail items according to the preamble of
In mail distribution systems, letters and similar flat items are conveyed in certain phases of the processing process by means of belt systems. These belt systems usually consist of an essentially horizontally arranged base belt and a cover belt consisting of upper and lower belt, between which the items are conveyed. The items are on one edge. The problem that arises when conveying such conveyor systems is that the items have an offset in height in the inclined position. Both can lead to disruptions in the further processing of the mail items, in particular to traffic jams and a displacement of the gaps between the mail items, which leads to damage.
A possible solution to this problem would be to take advantage of the weight of the shipment and to allow the shipment to be aligned in a certain section of the tape system almost by itself under the influence of gravity. The shipment is released, so that there could be gaps in the gap. Alignment could also be prevented by electrostatically charging the mail items.
The object of the present invention is to provide a device for aligning flat mailpieces which are conveyed by means of a belt system, in particular in which gaps between the mailpieces are avoided.
This object is achieved by the features of
The invention is based on the idea of frictionally grasping mail items during the alignment process by means of a controllable pair of rollers and, by changing the rotational speed or the orientation of the rollers, exerting a moment on the mail items that changes the position of the mail items relative to the conveyor system. This means that a straightening section is independent of its installation position.
With the device according to the invention it is possible to avoid gaps in the gap and also to process difficult types of mail. In particular, it prevents shipments from being damaged, and overall the susceptibility to faults of the entire mail distribution system is reduced.

The in FIG. The device according to the invention shown in FIG. 1 has a belt system consisting of the
The position of the consignment is detected by two
Some of the most important shipment directing processes are shown in FIG. 5 for the device according to FIGS. 1 and 2. 5a shows the case of a shipment whose rear edge is raised. In the case of a consignment compared to the recommended speed V reduced speed of the
