Description

Verfahren zum Kontrollieren einer fließenden Cellulose- suspensionMethod for controlling a flowing cellulose suspension
The invention relates to a method for controlling a flowing suspension of cellulose in an aqueous tertiary amine oxide. For the purposes of this application, the term “checking” is also to be understood as measuring and regulating.
Solcherart extrudierte Fasern erhielten von der BISFA (The International Bureau for the Standardization of man made fibers) den Gattungsnamen Lyocell. For several decades, methods for the production of cellulosic molded articles have been sought which are to replace the viscose process which is used today on a large scale. An alternative, not least because of its better environmental compatibility, has emerged in the process of dissolving cellulose in an organic solvent without derivatization and molding, e.g. Fibers, foils and other moldings to extrude. Such extruded fibers were given the generic name Lyocell by BISFA (The International Bureau for the Standardization of man made fibers). BISFA defines an organic solvent as a mixture of an organic chemical and water.
It has been found that a mixture of a tertiary amine oxide and water is particularly suitable as an organic solvent for the production of cellulosic moldings. N-Methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMMO) is primarily used as the amine oxide. Other amine oxides are e.g. in EP-A - 0 533 070. A method of making moldable cellulose solutions is e.g. known from EP-A-0 356 419. The production of cellulosic moldings using tertiary amine oxides is generally referred to as the amine oxide process.
Die formbare Lösung wird schließlich in einem Formwerkzeug, z.B einer Spinndüse, zu Filamenten versponnen, die durch ein Fällbad geführt werden.EP-A-0 356 419 describes an amine oxide process for the preparation of spinnable cellulose solutions which, among other things, comprises a suspension of cellulose as a starting material liquid, aqueous N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMMO) used. This method consists in the suspension being continuously and continuously converted into a moldable solution in a thin-film treatment apparatus. The moldable solution is finally spun in a molding tool, for example a spinneret, into filaments which are passed through a precipitation bath.
Im Dünnschichtbehandlungsapparat werden jene Konzentrationsverhältnisse eingestellt, die es gemäß dem Zustandsdiagramm für das ternäre StoffgemischAs mentioned above, a suspension of cellulose in the aqueous tertiary amine oxide serves as the starting material for the production of the moldable cellulose solution. This suspension is produced by introducing crushed cellulose into the aqueous amine oxide solution. This suspension is then, if appropriate after further homogenization, transferred to the cellulose solution, for which purpose a thin-film treatment apparatus, e.g. a film truder from Buss AG, Switzerland, is used. In the thin-film treatment apparatus, the concentration ratios are set which are according to the state diagram for the ternary mixture of substances
Cellulose/Aminoxid/Wasser (siehe z.B. Cellulose / amine oxide / water (see e.g. WO 94/28212) allow the cellulose to dissolve.
The more precisely the cellulose suspension is metered, the better the amine oxide process can be carried out. Because of the consistency of the suspension, however, control of the flow of such a suspension is imprecise for the purposes of the amine oxide process. With conventional mass flow meters, e.g. Inductive flow meters or measuring devices that use the Coriolis measuring principle, a precise control of the flowing suspension or an exact dosage is not possible because of the inhomogeneities, air bubbles, etc. of the cellulose suspension.
The object of the invention is therefore to provide a method with which a flow of a suspension can be better controlled by crushed cellulose than is possible in the prior art.
Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren zum Kontrollieren eines Flusses einer Suspension von zerkleinerter Cellulose in einem flüssigen, wäßrigen tertiären Aminoxid, ist gekennzeichnet durch die Kombination der Maßnahmen, daßThe process according to the invention for controlling the flow of a suspension of comminuted cellulose in a liquid, aqueous tertiary amine oxide is characterized by the combination of the measures that
A) the suspension is conveyed into a vessel with an inlet opening for the suspension,
(B) die in das Gefäß eingebrachte Suspension durch das Gefäß transportiert wird, und(B) the suspension introduced into the vessel is transported through the vessel, and
(C) die durch das Gefäß transportierte Suspension über eine Austragsöffnung aus dem Gefäß ausgetragen wird, wobei(C) the suspension transported through the vessel is discharged from the vessel via a discharge opening, wherein
(D) das Gewicht des Gefäßes gemessen wird und mit den Abweichungen von einem vorherbestimmten Soll-Wert der Eintrag bzw. der Austrag der Suspension gesteuert werden.(D) the weight of the vessel is measured and the entry or the discharge of the suspension are controlled with the deviations from a predetermined target value.
It has been shown that with the method according to the invention a much more precise control and monitoring of the suspension flow is possible than with conventional flowmeters.
The flow of a cellulose suspension which has the following composition can be controlled particularly well with the method according to the invention:
Cellulose: 12 bis 15 Masse.;Cellulose: 12 to 15 mass .;
Wasser: 18 bis 25 Massel; tertiäres Aminoxid: 60 bis 65 Massel.Water: 18 to 25 ingots; tertiary amine oxide: 60 to 65 ingots.
A preferred embodiment of the method according to the invention is that a pump or another conveying device is used as the vessel.
Another preferred embodiment of the method according to the invention is that a buffer container is used as the vessel. Combinations of a buffer tank with a pump or conveying device have also proven to be expedient.
The invention is explained in more detail with the following example.
Beispielexample
The test apparatus essentially consisted of a storage container, an eccentric screw pump of the type Netzsch Mohno 2NSP30, with which a cellulose suspension was conveyed from the storage container into a thin-film treatment apparatus, a balance (pressure load load cell, manufacturer: Phillips Wägetechnik GmbH, Hamburg, Germany) and an electronic one Control device with which the pump power was controlled depending on the weighing result. The storage container and the eccentric screw pump were located on the scales with which the total weight of the storage container with attached screw pump and the cellulose suspension contained was measured.
The line with which cellulose suspension was conveyed from the storage container into the thin-film treatment apparatus was naturally made of flexible material, so that the weighing result was not impaired.
The cellulose suspension had the following composition: cellulose: 12.5 ingots; N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide: 63.5 ingots; Water: 24.0 pounds, based on the total mass. The electronic control device was programmed in such a way that it should control the pump output in such a way that the balance registers a weight loss of 300 kg / h as precisely as possible which is attributable to the pumped-out cellulose suspension.
To carry out the experiment, the cellulose suspension conveyed by the pump in 15 seconds each was weighed 18 and extrapolated to a suspension flow of the kg / h dimension. The results are given in the table below in the column "Suspension flow invention".
For comparison, the cellulose suspension was pumped out of the same storage vessel with the same pump, but the pump output was not regulated according to the invention, but with a conventional inductive flow meter (type PROMAG, manufacturer Endress and Hauser), which was connected downstream of the pump and the pump output as well as possible Should regulate 300 kg / h. 18 measured values (suspension flow in kg / h) were recorded at intervals of 15 seconds, which are given in the table below in the column "suspension flow IDM".
