Dies geschieht erst beim Zurückdrehen des Zylinderkerns in die Abschließstellung des Schlüssels bei gleichzeitigem Eingreifen der Verzahnung des Steckzapfens in die Zahnleiste. Nach Einstellen des vorgegebenen Schlüsselgeheimnisses kann durch Drehen der Handhabe relativ zum einen Schloßteil der Steckzapfen gedreht und außer Zahneingriff gebracht werden, welche Stellung dann das Auseinanderziehen der beiden Schloßteile zuläßt unter Freigabe des Abzuges der zuvor vom Waffenschloß gesicherten Waffe. Die Längserstreckung der Handhabe kann dabei nahezu so groß sein wie diejenige des einen Schloßteils, so daß insbesondere bei exzentrischer Lagerung der Handhabe ein großer Hebelarm wirksam wird, so daß auch bei einem straffen Zusammenstecken der Schloßteile unter Einbeziehung von aus flexiblem Material bestehenden Schutzplatten das Auflösen der Zahneingriffsstellung leicht bewerkstelligbar ist. In der Regel wird je einem Schloßteil eine Schutzplatte zugeordnet. Diese kann aus Gummi oder aus einem entsprechenden Kunststoff bestehen. Deren Einstecköffnung 20 weicht zufolge einer sehnenförmig verlaufenden Wand 21 von der Kreisform ab und entspricht dem Querschnittsprofil der Lagerbüchse 11 im Bereich der Ausnehmung 13. Ferner liegt die Sperrausnehmung 40 nahe eines Randes 41 der Abdeckschale 8, welcher Rand 41 sich etwa über den halben Umfang der Abdeckschale 8 erstreckt. Die Länge des Randes 41 ist so gewählt, daß die Handhabe 33 um 90° zu schwenken vermag. Das eine Ende des Randes 41 formt einen Hakenvorsprung 42, welcher in Zahneingriffsstellung von einer auswärts gerichteten Nase 43 der Handhabe 33 unterfahren ist, vergl. insbesondere Fig. 4. Ist das Schlüsselgeheimnis noch eingestellt, so kann durch Drehen mindestens einer der Zahlenscheiben 37 das wippenartige Sperrglied 38 verschwenkt werden, wobei der Sperrfortsatz 39 in die mit ihm fluchtende Sperrausnehmung 40 des Schloßteils 6 bzw. der Abdeckschale 8 eintaucht. Damit ist die Handhabe 33 drehfest am Schloßteil 6 festgelegt, so daß kein Verdrehen des Steckzapfens 12 stattfinden kann.
