Claims (6)

1. Opening device for an article of luggage having a pivoting handle which, by pivoting, actuates securing parts of the device, characterised in that the pivot handle (1) is coupable, by actuation of a part (2), to a pivot spindle (5) about which the handle (1) rotates and which actuates the opening mechanism (12, 16), especially through intermediate parts (9, 11).
2. Device according to Claim 1, characterised in that the components for transmitting the rotating movement comprise a thrust pin (2) which is displaceable in one leg of the handle (1) against the action of a spring (3) and co-operates with an aperture (6) in the pivot spindle (5) of the handle (1).
3. Device according to Claim 2, characterised in that the pivot spindle (5) is connected with a pinion (9).
4. Device according to Claim 3, characterised in that the pinion (9) meshes with a rack (11) which is connected with a securing bolt (12).
5. Device according to one of Claims 2 to 4, characterised in that the pivot spindle (5) is displaceable in an axial direction against the action of a return spring (8) and co-operates with a cam (13) which is connected with a lock cylinder (14).
6. Device according to one of Claims 2 to 5, characterised in that the aperture (6) is situated in alignment with the end (7) of the thrust pin (2).
