Abstract
Description
The technical field of the present invention is that of devices for assisting in the manual loading of an artillery gun.
An artillery cannon is conventionally served by a team whose role is, among other things, to charge the weapon to ensure a rate of fire of the order of 3 to 6 rounds / min. This requires the handling of projectiles and propellant charges and their loading into the barrel. The artillery gun is already equipped with a loading mechanism which especially facilitates the introduction of the projectile, generally heavy, into the chamber of the gun. In addition to the conventional gargousses, it is necessary to use uni-modular charges constituted in the form of cylindrical modules of the same length, the range of the projectile being adjusted by varying the number of modules. It is well known that the use of modules allows better management of the propellant charge and avoids wastage occurring in the case of the use of gargousses, but on the other hand poses a problem in terms of their introduction into the barrel chamber especially if we want to increase the pace.
The American army adopted a device of assistance to the loading made up of a set of clamps fixed on a single support, allowing to apprehend each of the modules. The system is complex and unreliable because it is necessary to simultaneously control the opening of all the clamps whatever the generally severe conditions of use for this type of barrel. This system is therefore not easy to use and above all does not ensure reversibility, that is to say that it does not allow the barrel to be discharged in the event of a shooting incident.
The German army recommends the use of interlocking modules which avoids the use of a loading aid system but precisely presents the disadvantage of requiring positioning to fit them. We can see that this way of doing things is not very compatible with the conditions of use of a field artillery cannon and limits the rate of fire.
The object of the present invention is to provide a loading aid device which does not have the aforementioned drawbacks while providing a high rate of fire for loading and unloading the modules whatever the type of chamber or the traditional gargoyles.
The object of the invention is therefore a device for assisting with the loading or unloading of a field artillery cannon using cylindrical uni-modular charges or gargoyles, characterized in that it is constituted means for receiving charges in number from 1 to 6 which can be actuated manually and which is capable of engaging in the chamber of the barrel and of releasing said charges before firing.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the charges are released by rotation of the receiving means relative to the barrel chamber, the receiving means being in the form of a semi-cylindrical chute provided at one end with a means of positioning of the loads and of an operating handle.
For example, the chute is made of a composite material consisting of glass fibers coated with epoxy resin loaded with a conductive material such as a metallic matrix or metallized micro balls to allow the evacuation of electrostatic charges.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the positioning means is in the form of an internal partition integrated into the chute, said chute being equipped with an external partition provided with the operating handle.
A very first advantage of the device according to the invention lies in its simplicity of construction providing autonomous use whatever the conditions of use of the field artillery.
Another advantage lies in the small footprint and the very low mass, of the order of 1.5 kg, of this device which can be used with barrel chambers of different dimensions.
- FIG. 1 is a schematic sectional view illustrating the introduction of the modules into the barrel chamber using the loading aid device,
- FIG. 2 is a schematic sectional view showing the release of the modules,
- FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the loading aid device according to the invention, and
- Figures 4 to 7 illustrate alternative embodiments of the device according to the invention.
The device according to the invention makes it possible, as indicated above, to charge an
After the introduction of the
If it is desired to unload the
The particular structure of the
The
