- a cover 21 By using a cover 21, precompressed building material 14 can be used and the cover 21 also prevents outgassing in the direction of the window interior 27. It can also be formed in one piece with the spacer strips 15, so that the building material is completely degassing-proof and the protective profile 13 as a whole is stabilized. In addition, this can be sealed close to the profile, for which purpose a seal 26 is shown schematically. In individual cases, this seal 26 can be adapted to the respective requirements, for example only be present in the corner area if the protective profiles 13 are not welded to one another.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a cover of an insulating glass pane in the edge region, with a protective profile encompassing the edges of fire-resistant glass, which engages with spacing strips between the glass panes and which has the building material arranged on the glass side and foaming in the event of a fire.
Such a cover is known from DE-A 22 29 524. The known protective profile surrounds the edges of the fire protection glass indirectly, namely with the interposition of a seal, and is itself made of metal. The U-shaped seals of the insulating glass pane present on both individual panes reduce the spacing of the spacer strips, so that the space between them for receiving the building material which foams up in the event of a fire is small. The seals also increase the required distance of the frame from the glass edges and weaken the frame accordingly. The metal design of the protective profile means that the building material that foams up in the event of fire can only foam up in the space between the two individual panes of the insulating glass. This also corresponds to the objective of the known cover, according to which the space between the two individual panes is to be foamed to achieve sufficient insulation properties, but the space between the insulating glass pane and the frame is not taken into account.
A cover of a similar type is also known from WO 93/02268. The protective profile made of heat-sensitive material is U-shaped and the building material that foams up in the event of a fire is arranged between the U-bottom and the glass end faces of the individual panes of the insulating glass pane and clamped in the process. In the event of fire, the hot side of the protective profile is attacked or destroyed by the action of heat, so that the building material is exposed to the heat and, as a result, a joint between the pane and the frame holding the pane or the like. can completely foam out. The known covering assumes that a conventional insulating glass pane consisting of fire protection glass is used in order to build up a fire-resistant glass partition or the like. An outer circumference that increases in the pane level is accepted, due to the protective profile, which is designed in a complex manner as a sealing profile, and due to the building material foaming in the event of fire, the volume of which must not be too small for a reliable seal in individual cases also comparatively large volumes or the like between the outer circumference of the insulating glass pane and the frame supporting it. to be able to reliably and completely foam out the space in between. The assembly of the seal with the strip-shaped foaming building material must take into account the correct fit of all parts and must therefore be carried out carefully or with the corresponding effort. With this known cover, the frame must therefore be weakened in order to make room for receiving the volume of the foaming building material.
In contrast, the invention has for its object to improve a cover with the features mentioned in such a way that the radial space required in the plane of the pane on the outer periphery of the pane is as small as possible for the design of the cover adapted to the case of fire. Conventionally dimensioned frames should therefore be able to be used and nevertheless a reliable seal should be achieved between the outer periphery of the insulating glass pane and the frame holding it.
This object is achieved in that the protective profile consists of heat-sensitive material in the event of fire and rests with the spacer strips on the glass panes, and in that the material of the protective profile has a melting temperature which prevents the foaming building material from escaping from the area between the individual glass panes into the space between allowed the outer periphery of the insulating glass pane and its holding element.
For the invention, it is important to recognize that the material which foams up in the event of a fire can be accommodated between the individual panes of the insulating glass pane. For this purpose, the protective profile made of heat-sensitive material is also designed as a spacer. The spacer strips engage between the glass panes in such a way that they abut against them on the inside and keep them at the required distance from one another. The space in between is used to absorb the foam material in the event of a fire. The overall height in the edge area is reduced.
It is known per se to use edge protection strips in insulating glass panes in order to protect their glass end faces. For example, against mechanical loads when installing an insulating glass pane in a window frame, in particular with heavier panes, as is the case with fire protection panes. It is also known to have edge protection strips with spacer strips between the individual panes of insulating glass panes in order to keep them at a distance. However, these edge protection strips are generally used with additional spacers, namely, for example, rolled hollow profiles, which take over the essential part of the supporting function between the individual panes and which can furthermore be filled with hygroscopic material in order to prevent the inner surfaces of the individual panes from misting up due to absorption of moisture To prevent insulating glass pane. These known protective strips of the insulating glass pane are made of metal and, in the event of fire, lead to an undesirable heat distribution due to their high thermal conductivity. This is the case with the heat-sensitive material Protection profile is not the case. Rather, its material melts before reaching the foaming temperature of the building material that foams up in the event of a fire, thus allowing the foamed material to escape from the area between the individual glass panes into the space between the outer periphery of the insulating glass pane and the frame holding the same or the like.
If the protective profile directly adjoins the building material, this ensures that any space preventing the building material from foaming in the event of a fire is avoided. The heat or energy available in the event of a fire immediately affects the building material, which foams as quickly as possible.
The cover is advantageously designed such that the protective profile and the building material are assembled to form a handling unit. The handling unit can be manufactured in the factory. As a result, the protective profile reliably protects the building material against undesired mechanical influences or destruction during the production of the insulating glass pane.
The cover can be designed so that the space between two spacer strips is filled with foaming building material. The entire space available between the individual panes of the insulating glass pane, insofar as it is not occupied by the spacing strips, is filled with foaming building material. Here a comparatively large volume is available, so that even large volumes between the insulating glass pane and the associated frame or the like. can be foamed.
It is also possible to design the cover so that a cover cladding the building material is installed in one piece, if necessary, between the two free ends of the spacer strips. This cover increases the protection of the building material and can also seal it against the window interior. So there is no fear that from Gases escaping from the building material undesirably get into the space between the panes. Rather, all gas, especially when foaming, is only available to increase the volume of the building material.
However, it is of course possible to additionally protect the space between the individual panes of an insulating glass pane in that the space between the panes is sealed against the protective profile close to the profile. Conventional sealing materials can be used for such a seal, in individual cases also using stable spacers, if extreme mechanical loads are to be expected in the event of a fire or if the spacer has to be used for other functions, for example to absorb a desiccant that removes moisture from the space between the panes should.
It is advantageous to design the cover so that the protective profile bears directly on the glass end faces and has a flat outer surface. This results in a low overall height in the frame level and the flat outer surface contributes to the fact that conventional design options can be used outside the area of the insulating glass pane, such as blocks, seals and the like.
An improvement in the mechanical stability of the edge region of the insulating glass pane results from the fact that the protective profile encompasses the outer edges of the glass end faces. As a result, the individual panes are enclosed in an edge-safe manner between a spacer bar and a protective projection on the outside of the pane in the region of their glass end faces.
The device can be designed so that the melting temperature of the protective profile is lower than the foaming temperature of the building material. This ensures with certainty that the protective profile has already melted before the foaming building material foams. By melting the protective profile, an outlet is created for the building material that foams up after the emergence of this outlet. At the same time, it is ensured that a seal shielding the interior of the pane is not undesirably loaded by foaming building material.
The invention is explained with reference to an embodiment shown in the drawing, which represents a cross section through the edge region of an insulating glass pane consisting of two individual panes.
The
The
The design of the cover is such that the
In the event of a fire, the energy acting on the
