Definitions

  • the present invention essentially relates to an improved gas burner intended to equip a hob, a stove or the like.
  • Cooktops or cookers are most often fitted with several open flame burners.
  • Each burner generally comprises a head connectable to a gas inlet pipe and consisting essentially of two removable parts, namely a base covered by a cap to define a chamber from which the gas can escape. periphery of the head in order to provide a so-called main flame capable of heating a container placed above the burner head.
  • pilot flame principle More precisely, a pilot flame is produced under the main flame in order to ensure good stabilization of the combustion for all of the gases distributed, good flexibility in adjusting the power and good ignition of the main flame.
  • pilot flame gas burners have a certain number of drawbacks in terms of the pilot flame.
  • the supply gas flow rate of the pilot flame is most often defective due to gas leaks occurring at the interface of the stacked parts constituting the burner head. This uncontrolled gas flow at the pilot flame supply therefore has the consequence of disturbing combustion at the main flame which is located above the pilot flame.
  • the sealing of the burner head produced by the simple stacking of the parts which constitute it, namely essentially the base and the cap, is not perfect, and this because flatness defects which still exist at the contact zones of these two parts, so that there is leakage at this point, that is to say a variable and random gas flow on the periphery of the burner .
  • the pilot flame is therefore disturbed and, consequently, the main flame also.
  • the object of the present invention is in particular to solve this problem by proposing an improved gas burner in the sense that the flow of gas supplying the pilot flame will always be controlled and will therefore confer on this flame an optimal regularity and therefore capable of ensuring good stabilization with the main flame.
  • the invention relates to an improved gas burner for hob, stove or the like, and of the type comprising a head connectable to a gas inlet and essentially consisting of a base covered by a cap to define a chamber from which gas can escape at the periphery of the head to provide a main flame with which an underlying pilot flame can be associated to stabilize the main flame, characterized by a spacer or the like which is interposed between the 'base and the cap to define with the latter the aforementioned chamber, or first chamber, and to define with the base a second gas distribution chamber communicating with said first chamber, said spacer being mounted between base and cap so as to create Between it and the base have a peripheral slot allowing the escape of gas from the second chamber and therefore the controlled development of the pilot flame under the main flame.
  • This gas burner is further characterized in that the spacer is provided with one or more calibrated orifices ensuring communication between the first chamber and the second chamber.
  • the aforementioned peripheral slot giving rise to the pilot flame results from a mounting by sliding and interlocking of the spacer on the central part of the base forming an inlet for the gas.
  • the spacer comprises a central opening with a fallen edge slidably mounted on the central part of the base and coming to be housed in an annular groove formed in the base around its central part.
  • the spacer extends in its plane beyond the aforementioned fallen edge to form a crown bearing on the central part of the base.
  • spacer and / or the base are provided with bosses or the like opposite the aforementioned peripheral slot.
  • the spacer is also provided with pins for centering the cap on said spacer.
  • the base, the spacer and the cap constituting the head of the burner may have a circular shape or a star shape with at least three branches.
  • Figure 1 is a half view in axial section of a gas burner head according to the prior art.
  • Figure 2 is an axial sectional view of a gas burner according to the principles according to this invention.
  • FIG. 3 is an exploded view, partially in section, of the burner head shown in FIG. 2.
  • Figure 4 is a half view in axial section of another embodiment of the burner according to this invention.
  • FIG. 5 is a schematic perspective view of another form of burner head using the principles of the invention.
  • a known gas burner head which consists of a base 1 closed by a cap 2 and having a central portion 3 in the form of a portion of duct capable of communicating with an inlet (not shown) of the air-gas mixture to supply the chamber 4 defined by the base 1 and the cap 2.
  • the gas in the chamber 4 will exit through orifices 5 formed in the periphery of the cap 2 which generally has a circular shape and this so as to give rise to a main flame illustrated diagrammatically in 6.
  • the chamber 4 simply results from the stacking of the parts constituted by the cap 2 and the base 1, but, most often, there are defects in flatness P at the level of the annular zones or surfaces in contact with the cap 2 and the base 1. In fact, the flatness of these zones or surfaces in contact is not sufficient, either because the manufacturing tolerances do not allow it, or because the more or less complex shape of the burner does not allow mechanical surfacing, or even because the deformations due to heat or aging cause flatness defects.
  • parasitic leaks occur at the level of the parts contact zones, these leaks adding to the flow of gas exiting through the orifices 7 and consequently disturbing the homogeneity of the pilot flame 8 and, consequently, that of the main flame 6.
  • the present invention overcomes these drawbacks in particular by providing, as can be seen in FIGS. 2 and 3, a substantially flat and circular spacer 10 interposed between the base 1 and the cap 2.
  • This spacer 10 defines with the cap 2 a first chamber, namely the chamber 4, capable of give birth to the main flame 6 as will be described in detail below.
  • the spacer 10 also defines with the base 1, on the other side, a second chamber 11 for distributing the gas communicating with the first chamber 4 by means of a plurality of calibrated orifices 12 formed in said spacer.
  • This chamber 11 will allow a controlled gas flow capable of giving rise to the pilot flame 8, as will be described in detail below.
  • This peripheral slot 13 results from a mounting by sliding and interlocking of the spacer 10 on the central part 3 of the base 1 which, as can be seen in FIG. 2, is connected to a venturi system 14 upstream of which a gas injector 15 is provided, so as to supply the chamber 4, and also the chamber 11 via the calibrated orifices 12, with an appropriate air-gas mixture.
  • the spacer 10 has at its center an opening 16 with a fallen edge 17.
  • This fallen edge 17 can be slidably mounted on the central part 3 of the base which has a shape of revolution thus ensuring the centering of the spacer 10, as can be seen in FIG. 2.
  • the fallen edge 17 is housed in an annular groove 18 formed in the base 1 and externally concentric with the central part 3.
  • the fallen edge 17 of the central opening 16 in the spacer 10 will come to fit at the bottom of the groove 18, so as to create the peripheral slot 13 producing the pilot flame 8.
  • the base 1 may comprise at its periphery, and opposite the spacer 10, an extra thickness 19 on which will bear bosses or the like 20 provided on the underside of the spacer 10, as seen in Figures 2 and 3.
  • calibrated orifices 12 will have a diameter greater than 2 mm so as to allow their realization other than by mechanical recovery.
  • the upper face of the spacer 10, facing of the cap 2 is provided with pins 21 for centering the said cap on the said spacer.
  • the cap 2 has on the underside, and as known per se, a ring of slots 22 so as to form, by pressing on the spacer 10, as many orifices for the passage of the air-gas mixture producing the flame main 6.
  • the cap 2 can perfectly, without departing from the scope of the invention, be integral or not with the spacer 10. Also, in this order of ideas, the crown of slots 22 could be provided on the periphery of the upper face of the spacer 10, instead of being provided on the underside of the cap 2 as seen in FIG. 3.
  • the embodiment of the burner illustrated in FIG. 4 differs from that described above, only in that the spacer 10 extends along its plane, and in the direction of the opening 16, beyond the fallen edge 17.
  • the projecting annular part of the spacer 10 will somehow form a crown 23 which can bear on the upper annular face 3a of the central part 3 of the base 1.
  • the limit is even more parasitic gas leakage effect, if any, from the first chamber 4 to the second chamber 11, and this by the fact that the baffle effect at the level of the fallen edge 17 and the groove 18 is still increased by the presence of a contact between the upper face 3a of the central part 3 of the base 1 and the ring 23 of the spacer 10.
  • the base 1, the spacer 10 and the cap 2 constituting the burner head have a substantially circular shape, but, as can be seen in FIG. 5, the invention could perfectly be applied to a burner head having the shape of a three-pointed star 24. This means that each of the above elements constituting the burner head would have the shape of a three-pointed star.
  • a gas burner has therefore been produced according to the invention, the quality of the combustion of which is perfect, in particular because of the quality of the pilot flame stabilizing the main flame.
