Description
The invention relates to a diving container for the introduction of Pure magnesium in a treatment pan containing molten iron or the like, with a protective jacket for the pure magnesium is provided, as well as the use of this diving tank.
To set the conditions that cause spheroidal graphite formation cause a cast iron melt - usually in a special one Treatment pan - so-called nodular graphite added. This is usually magnesium.
This magnesium is still spread in the form of a master alloy added, in addition to a relatively small proportion Magnesium especially iron and silicon as alloy partners Has. As a result, the reaction between molten iron and Master alloy relatively easy. However, this must be accepted be that the master alloy is added in significant quantities must be the necessary for the formation of spheroidal graphite Bring in a lot of magnesium. This will not only Melt temperature adversely affects, but it also comes to form large quantities of slag because of its tough consistency difficult to eliminate and with complex measures is. In addition, the use of a master alloy is expensive and requires a low-sulfur iron smelt no additional desulfurization measures are taken.
There have therefore been various proposals, the iron smelting Pure magnesium added. This can have significant advantages be achieved. Pure magnesium is much cheaper than the FeSi master alloys. It can also contain high sulfur Starting iron, for example from cupola furnaces, without previous Desulfurization can be used because magnesium is desulfurizing works. There are much smaller amounts of Slag, which also because of the content of components high melting point is drier and more granular and therefore lighter can be removed. Due to the exothermic course of the reaction of the magnesium are the temperature losses resulting from the spilling largely arise in or from the treatment pan balanced, so that a much lower temperature loss compared to treatment with master alloy.
The addition of pure magnesium is therefore problematic, because the vaporization temperature of the magnesium is far below the temperature of the molten iron and is therefore one violent reaction comes with the result that strong vibrations, Ejection of iron and significant magnesium erosion occur. A number of efforts have therefore been made to these phenomena through a slowed down and controlled To mitigate contact between molten iron and pure magnesium. Here two fundamentally different methods are used.
In one method, the pure magnesium is in the treatment pan deposited before pouring in the molten iron and doing so protected so that the contact between molten iron and pure magnesium is slowed down. According to DE-B 27 23 87⊘ and DE-A-21 35 ⊘26 this is done by a cover with a Mixture of particulate, in particular metallurgical silicon carbide and sometimes other materials such as iron filings or the like in a thickness of 5 cm. Oriented the amount of silicon carbide according to the desired Final Si content and the vaccination effect from this component. With the so-called pure magnesium converter process the pure magnesium is suspended within a swivel Converter deposited in a reaction chamber, the small openings has, over the previously filled iron melt Swiveling the converter access to the reaction chamber receives.
While the former method has the disadvantage that the cover made of particulate silicon carbide and iron filings Guaranteed little protection when pouring the molten iron and therefore violent reactions already during the filling process occur, there is the disadvantage of the converter method in the high costs of the treatment pan or the converter. Furthermore This procedure is not very flexible because it is specific to one Converter size is bound.
The so-called dip bulb process can be implemented more easily in which the pure magnesium in a diving container in the form of a chamber-like diving bulb made of refractory material deposited and then by means of an immersion device is immersed in the molten iron. The diving bulb has small ones Openings through which the molten iron slowly and controlled can enter and exit, which only leads to a moderate, timed and localized response is coming. In the so-called MAP process (FOUNDRY M & T, September 1974, pp. 86-91) becomes an additional delay achieved that the pieces of pure magnesium before their deposit provided with a protective coating made of refractory material but the protective covering is only partially d. H. a corner of the pieces remains unprotected. To this In this way it should be avoided that the pure magnesium before the reaction evaporated with the molten iron and the pure magnesium pieces explode.
The diving bulb method has the advantage, cheaper and work faster than the converter process. Disadvantageous is, however, that the diving bulb has high mechanical and thermal Is subject to stresses and that the openings to Reaction space experienced changes after repeated use and in extreme cases can even become blocked.
The invention is therefore based on the object of a device for the treatment of molten iron with pure magnesium, their use is particularly inexpensive and nevertheless a moderate reaction of the pure magnesium with the molten iron and thus little magnesium burn-off is guaranteed.
This object is achieved in that in the Immersion container such a protective fill as a protective jacket is placed that they are at least partially the pure magnesium covers, and that in the area of the protective fill to the outside a retaining wall accessible from the outside for the molten iron for the protective fill from in the iron smelter dissolvable, flammable or meltable material is. The characterization is "resolvable, flammable or fusible material "to understand widely, i.e. means any material that is not the temperature of the melt withstands and after a certain time access to the Protective fill and the pure magnesium releases.
According to the basic idea of the invention, the pure magnesium when bringing it down in the melt in two ways protected, on the one hand by the retaining wall and on the other hand through the protective fill. Secures both together bringing the pure magnesium down to the bottom Area of the treatment pan without first becoming a Reaction between molten iron and pure magnesium comes. Here the immersion container according to the invention is characterized in that that it costs much less than the known ones Facilities as it is simple and with cheap materials can be produced.
The retaining wall does not have to cover the entire area of the Protective fill extend. However, it is appropriate that the Retaining wall covers the entire area of the protective fill.
In a further embodiment of the invention it is provided that Pure magnesium from the protective fill at least below and on the sides, preferably surrounded on all sides.
In a first possible embodiment, this is Immersion container designed so that it is not reusable is. In this case, at least the bottom and the side walls of the immersion container formed by the retaining wall be. The immersion container preferably has one on all sides Retaining wall.
In a second possible embodiment, the container is trained reusable. The container should do this consist of refractory material or coated on the outside be. In this embodiment, the container have a floor closed by the retaining wall and the protective fill in one layer on the retaining wall rest and the pure magnesium arranged above the protective fill be. It is useful that the retaining wall is arranged on the inside of the bottom of the container and the floor has access openings, because of size and The number of access openings can not only be the opening behavior influence the retaining wall. After their dissolution a reaction chamber is also created inside the immersion container with pulsating pressure equalization between the interior of the Immersion tank and melt, with the reaction process can be influenced by the size and number of access openings.
It is within the scope of the invention that the prescribed embodiment not on the bottom of the dip tank must be limited, but also in the area of Side walls of the immersion container can be provided, provided that in this area the pure magnesium of one Layer of protective fill and a retaining wall covered becomes.
According to a further feature of the invention it is provided that the side walls of the immersion container at least partially made of meltable, flammable or meltable in the molten iron Material is made, material and material thickness so formed are that the resolution versus the retaining wall is delayed. This embodiment comes for both a "lost" as well as for a reusable diving container in Question.
For the separation of pure magnesium and protective fill and for further Influencing the reaction behavior can occur between pure magnesium and protective fill an intermediate wall from itself in the Iron melt dissolving material can be arranged.
DE-C-36 ⊘3 277).Various materials and mixtures come as protective fill in question. The majority should preferably be silicon carbide material come into use because of the necessary nucleation and vaccination readiness is supported. The SiC content should be be at least 85%, preferably about 95%. Conveniently should a protective fill with a grain size up to a maximum of 1 mm can be used, as this causes the germ state the iron smelter is significantly improved and thus good conditions be created for vaccination treatment (cf. DE-C-36 ⊘3 277).
Materials that can be brought down are suitable for the immersion container the protective fill with the pure magnesium contained therein in the lower part of the treatment pan, on the other hand, however, gradually dissolves, then the protective fill and release the pure magnesium. For this you can Sheets, but also refractory materials in combination with Find sheet metal. Even cardboard or cardboard are suitable because these materials are slow within the molten iron and burn to form a gaseous protective jacket. The thickness of the walls of the immersion container can then be made accordingly the desired release delay.
The bringing down of the diving container with the one enclosed in it Pure magnesium can be done with a simple stamp attached to the lower end of the diving tank becomes. However, the diving tank can also be within the per se well-known diving bulb with inlet and outlet opening (s) for the Melting iron can be arranged, if available stands.
For controlling the reaction between the pure magnesium and The smelting iron is beneficial if the dip tank is arranged below a porous plate, which together with the immersion container via an immersion device in the molten iron is introduced. The porosity can be determined by the Forming of corresponding channels can be set.
It is also useful to use a treatment pan which has at least one paragraph in the lower area, which is preferably ring-shaped and thus forms a chamber, in which the immersion container can be immersed, the porous The top has a top - albeit permeable - finish forms. Depending on the design of the heel and porous plate can thereby access the molten iron to the released Pure magnesium are limited and controlled in such a way that the Moderate reaction between molten iron and pure magnesium remains. The behavior can also be determined by a distance block between the plate and the immersion container.

The device shown in the figures has a treatment pan

Above treatment pan 1 there is only a partial one here

In Figure 1, the

When immersing the immersion container 21 with the aid of the immersion device

After completion of the reaction, the immersion container 21 is with the help
