Abstract

The knife (18) consists of a concentrically positioned primary blade (1) (with an overall height (H)) and two adjacent supplementary external blades (17) arranged alongside. These have a lesser height (h) and a thickness (e) which is double the thickness (d) of the primary knife blade. The number of blades in the perforating knife can be altered to suit the requirement of a particular use. The knife blade (1) has teeth on one side which work against a counter perforation cylinder. The knife blades can all be removed and exchanged by other combinations of knives. The thickness (D) of the perforation knife is constant and is formed by the combination of the primary knife blade and the supplementary blades. Whatever combination of blades is used, he overall thickness is always twice the thickness of the supplementary blades plus the thickness of the primary blade.

Description

The invention relates to a perforating knife for cross-perforating signatures according to the preamble of claim 1.

Derartige Perforationen werden mittels Perforiermesser eingebracht.DT 22 34 078 discloses a method and a device for producing multi-layer signatures, with which problems of the appearance of pinch folds or wrinkles at the intersection of the fold lines are eliminated by introducing slots or perforations which extend in the longitudinal direction of one of the fold lines. Such perforations are made using a perforating knife.

It is also known to create perforations and to fold along these perforations.

A disadvantage of this perforation, however, is that the perforating knife to be used has a different thickness depending on the grammage of the paper webs and the number of layers of the signatures to be folded, and consequently must be made separately for each specific production.

The invention is based on the object To create perforating knives for cross-perforating signatures, which can be adapted to different grammages of paper webs as well as to a different number of layers of the signatures without much additional effort.

According to the invention, this object is achieved by the features of claim 1.

The invention has the following advantages in particular: the invention provides a universally usable perforating knife which is variable in its thickness. The perforating knife can thus be adapted both to the respective grammage of the paper web and to the number of signatures to be folded, without a separate perforating knife having to be made or used for each different production.

Finally, in a sixth perforating knife according to the invention, generally designated 27, it is provided that a first knife blade 1 having a thickness d is sandwiched between two herringbone perforating knives 7, 12 and 12, 7 with a respective thickness e. All parts 1; 7, 12; 12, 7 have a total height H.

All mentioned perforating knife 18; 19; 22; 23; 26; 27 are variants or exemplary embodiments and, due to the presence of fewer knife blades and insert sheets, can each be adapted to the production requirements. On their second side 4, which faces a receptacle already mentioned, the perforating knives have the same or constant thickness D, which is formed in each case from two insert sheets 17 with a respective thickness e and a knife blade 1 with a thickness d, such as perforating knives 18, or other combinations, the three sheets of which, regardless of their arrangement, always have the thicknesses twice e and once d. All mentioned perforating knife 1; 7; 12 have 3 teeth on their first side, which act in the direction of a counter-perforating cylinder. A possible arrangement of perforating knives in a receptacle of a perforating cylinder is shown in EP 03 07 891 B1. The optionally the perforating knives 18; 19; 22; 23; 26 enclosed inserts 14; 17 therefore have a lower height h compared to a total height H of the perforating knife 18; 19; 22; 23 to ensure a maximum penetration depth H minus h into the signatures to be perforated. The individual knife or insert sheets of the perforating knife are arranged side by side in the circumferential direction or in the peripheral direction. The supplement sheets 14; 17 are made of the same material as the knife blades 1; 7; 12, e.g. B. made of hardened steel sheet.

It is also possible to arrange two knife blades 1 each with a thickness d next to one another plus an insert sheet 14 and 17 with a respective thickness d, e.

The perforation of the multi-layer signatures takes place by means of a perforating knife, which is arranged in the receptacle of the perforating cylinder and which is put together in accordance with the particularities of the respective production to be driven. In the Compilation of the perforating knife can take into account not only the thickness and the type of material to be perforated, but also a different length of the signatures, which is made possible by the optional arrangement of the outer insert sheets when perforating. Folding can be done on the perforation line.
