Description

Stand der TechnikState of the art

The invention relates to a wheelchair according to the preamble of the main claim, which is not only about improving comfort for physically handicapped people, but also about expanding the range of use or application of such wheelchairs.

Most known wheelchairs have a chassis that is carried in the rear part by two wheels, on which gripping rings are arranged for their transport and on the front part of which steering and support rollers are articulated, while the seat and the backrest are also in the front part so are arranged so that the center of gravity lies significantly in front of the axis of the wheels in order to prevent the person using the wheelchair from tipping backwards. Half of the wheel diameter protrudes behind the backrest, which leads to a correspondingly long vehicle length. This leads to a large unnecessary space requirement. This mostly chosen arrangement of a wheelchair has the disadvantage that for the drive movement of the wheelchair over the arms of the person they have to reach down relatively far, which is possible in each case with a diffractive torso movement which is often only possible with difficulty. In any case, it is an uneconomical movement. Nonetheless, there is a risk of tipping backwards with powerful drive during forward travel and possibly vertical impacts on the steering and support roller. This type of wheelchair is particularly difficult to take with you any goods or objects. Last but not least, the seating quality of the well-known wheelchairs also leaves something to be desired.

Vorteile der ErfindungAdvantages of the invention

Apart from avoiding the disadvantages mentioned above, the wheelchair according to the invention with the features of the main claim also has the advantage that it can be used as a commercial work chair, for example in the office. The person using the wheelchair can drive it directly to the desk and transport some work equipment via the wheelchair support device.

A wheelchair with storage space arranged under the seat on the chassis is known per se (EP-A-0 127 511). The disadvantage of this wheelchair, however, is that there is access to the storage space from the front or the rear of the wheelchair, wheelchair sides to which the physically disabled person normally has no access.

Wheelchairs, the two wheels of which are hub-free and are connected to the chassis via support bearings, are also known (DE-A-38 19 925, EP-A-O 430 794). The use of hub-free wheels is primarily intended to reduce the risk of injury to the physically handicapped person and there is more empty space under the seat to accommodate simple transport aids such as trays.

It is achieved by the invention that the space that can possibly be used between the two impellers can be used almost completely. The crossbars form a "cage" with the support elements. Last but not least, this type of frame formation achieves high internal stability. According to a special embodiment, at least two crossbars of this type are present, with steering support rollers, seat and backrest or the support device being attachable to these crossbars. Of course, according to the invention, the steering support rollers or the footrests can also be attached directly to other parts of the chassis. In addition to the fact that such crossbars represent a preferred position for fastening these parts due to their structural position, the power transmission from these crossbars to the support elements is particularly easy to intercept. A support ring can preferably serve as the support element, which is supported on the respective impeller via radial bearings. Of course, the crossbars can also be connected to one another, for example when arranging the seat or the backrest, two such crossbars being usable for this purpose.

According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the storage device has a pull-out device which can be pulled out through the open wheel segment and which has an ironing device for holding objects, such as commercially available hanging folders or the like. has or a basket or a drawer for the transport of other goods. By pulling out the, for example, a telescopic Suspension can have direct access to the person after pulling out the pull-out device. even if the person is significantly disabled. Since the seated person does not have to bend too far to the side or back, the risk of the wheelchair tipping over is also reduced.

According to a further advantageous known (DE-A-182 471) embodiment of the invention, the seat is arranged with its center approximately above the imaginary connecting axis of rotation of the barrel axis, whereby the center of gravity of a seated person is just behind this axis in the direction of travel and being on the At least one steering and support roller is articulated on the rear of the wheelchair. In this way, the access to the pulled-out support device is considerably simplified and the position of the person in relation to the wheels for driving them is also improved, since access to the gripping rings is cheaper. Since the focus of the person is behind but near the storage of the wheels, the castors can turn more easily when turning. Apart from the fact that the overall length of the wheelchair can be shortened considerably by the arrangement according to the invention, its maneuverability is also increased. This advantage exists both in terms of the effort required by the person to steer the wheelchair and the short, maintainable turning radii due to the short center distance. These advantages are particularly important when used in the office, for example when starting up at a desk. The main advantage of using it in the office is that the disabled person can cope with almost the same space requirement as a non-disabled person. The person does not need a separate job.

According to a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, which is also known per se (see above), at least one steering and support roller is articulated on the front of the wheelchair. In this way, a very high stability against tipping is achieved. According to a special embodiment of the invention, two steering and support rollers are arranged on the rear of the wheelchair, while such a role on the front is sufficient so that the wheels create a five-point support on the floor, similar to what is required for office chairs that are equipped with roles. A wheelchair is known in which the center of gravity is shifted to the rear and in which a steering and support roller is provided at the front and rear (DE-A-27 51 079). However, this known wheelchair does not have hub-free wheels, so that this crucial feature is not present.

According to a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, a rotating roller bearing serves as the support bearing, the non-rotating inner ring of which forms part of the chassis. The roles can be kept relatively far apart, for example, by cages in order to get by with a minimum of roles.

According to a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, the inclination of the seat and / or backrest is adjustable. This is especially true when the wheelchair is to be suitable for use in an office, whereby the seat shells customary for office chairs can certainly be used, in particular with anti-slip protection in the event of a negative seat angle.

In addition, according to a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, the seat can be equipped with a multi-chamber air cushion, which on the one hand makes long-term sitting more bearable.

According to a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, there is a controllable connection between the individual air cushions, through which an air cushion wedge lying between the thighs of the person can be automatically inflated in the case of an inclined position (negative sitting position) in order to prevent slipping. For example, a valve arranged in the adjustment device for the seat inclination can be used for control. If the seat inclination is negative, an air cushion part blows between the two Thighs that stop slipping forward. The wedge is not present at the positive seat angle. It is therefore possible to adopt different sitting postures. The footrest is then sprung to follow the movement of the seat.

According to a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, the wheelchair can be folded up, which is particularly useful when using crossbars and, in particular, is easy to implement due to the fact that there is a relatively large free space between the wheels.

Further advantages and advantageous embodiments of the invention can be found in the following description, the drawing and the claims.

Beschreibung des AusführungsbeispielsDescription of the embodiment

As can be seen from the drawing, the wheelchair according to the invention is equipped with a chassis which has a frame which has two support rings 1 arranged largely parallel to one another, which are rigidly connected to one another via four cross bars 2. Around these support rings 1, hub-free impellers 3 are mounted on the support rings 1 via radial bearings (not shown). Grip rings 4 are attached to each of the running wheels 3, by means of which the person 5, only indicated by dashed lines, can operate the running wheels.

The person 5 sits on a seat 6 which is adjustable in its inclined position and which is arranged via an adjusting device 7, which in turn rests on brackets 8 which are each fastened to two cross bars 2. A sliding part 17 is provided on the front part of the seat 6. An arm 9 is also adjustably attached to the adjusting device 7, on which a likewise adjustable backrest 11 is arranged. On the lower rear cross bar 2, two steering and support rollers 13 are articulated via cantilever arms 12, while in the same way only one steering and support roller 13 is articulated on the front cross bar 2. As shown in dashed lines in the drawing, the respective roller can yield upwards or backwards or forwards, for which it is connected to the respective rod by spring means (not shown). A footrest 14 is also attached to the front lower crossbar 2.

On the brackets 8, ie below the seat 6, a storage device 16 is provided which can be pulled out laterally through the hubless impellers via a telescopic system in such a way that it is easily accessible from above.

All of the features shown in the description of the following claims and in the drawings can be essential to the invention both individually and in any combination with one another.
