Definitions
- the present invention relates to a method and a product for decontamination surfaces, materials, skin, mucous membranes and wounds contaminated by chemical radioactive and / or toxic substances.
- JP-62165199 and JP-01073300 disclose creams comprising natural or synthetic limonene as an active product, the binder also being a synthetic detergent.
- the decontaminating solutions currently recommended are, on the other hand, aqueous solutions without cleaning power.
- the present invention therefore relates to a product for the decontamination of surfaces, materials, skin, mucous membranes and wounds contaminated by chemical radioactive and / or toxic substances, said product possibly comprising as a detergent solution compatible with use on the skin, mucous membranes and wounds, a liquid soap based on oil with a high saponification index exactly saponified by an alkali and complexing salts, characterized in that the complexing salts include salts of EDTA (Ethylene Diamino Tetracetic Acid) and salts of DTPA (Diethylene Triamine Pentacetic Acid) and in that the percentage of complexing salts contained in the product is less than 20% by weight.
- EDTA Ethylene Diamino Tetracetic Acid
- DTPA Diethylene Triamine Pentacetic Acid
- a particular feature of the invention is that the active product decontaminant is the soap itself. So unlike art products mentioned above, the product can be used not only for decontamination inert objects but also of the human body and hair, and even for the radioactive decontamination of mucous membranes and wounds.
- a particular advantage of the invention is obtained by the fact that the product decontaminant is produced in the form of a liquid product. Besides the action surface decontaminant, it also has a displacing action, allowing the elimination of radioactive toxic having penetrated inside the skin or materials likely to retain toxins inside their texture (for example example of fabrics, cottons, etc.).
- the complexing salts are present in the form of basic salts, such than sodium salts or potassium salts.
- the EDTA salts and / or the DTPA salts can have a pH identical to the pH of the soap or detergent solution.
- the vegetable oil with a high saponification index can be by example of coconut oil or palm oil, saponified for example by potash (potassium hydroxide).
- coconut oil soaps have the advantage to be very effective surfactants.
- triethanolamine as a base, which is less strong. than potash and possibly soda.
- Potash and triethanolamine soaps have the advantage over soda soaps, their solubility in water and the Liquid Soap form is particularly well suited to the intended use.
- the products according to the invention can be used on the skin, mucous membranes, wounds, inert surfaces, clothing contaminated with radioactive substances and / or toxic chemicals, or water, dust, soil, themselves soiled by these chemical radioactive and / or toxic substances.
- This product has a significant decontaminating effect as demonstrated by the test below.
- Liquid soap according to Example 2 with a dilution of 1/6 (0.17% EDTA).
- the surface to be treated is placed at the bottom of a 250 ml beaker and immersed in 50 ml of contamination product.
- the action of the product is stopped, quickly removing from the beak the treated surface. Then, rinse with distilled water to remove excess product and dried under an epiradiator.
- the residual radioactivity is measured by an alpha count in the case of plutonium 239 and by gamma counting in the case of cesium 137.
- the evaluation is expressed as a fraction of decontamination obtained with a 1N HNO 3 solution, for the intermediate time of each test.
- HNO 3 which is very effective, cannot of course be used in the same way as the liquid soap of the invention, on humans, wounds, etc.
- DTPA salts are complexing salts which fix plutonium and cesium. They thus bring a strong decontaminating effect of radioactive stains.
- This implementation advantageously combines the cleaning and decontaminants of the various components and satisfies the requirements which are the basis of the present invention.
- coconut oil could be replaced by palm oil and potassium hydroxide with triethanolamine or hydroxide sodium.
- the salts EDTA and / or DTPA are prepared so as to have the same pH as soap.
- the packaging of these products is also very important for the use envisaged because it must protect the product from any external contamination.
