Abstract
Description
Washed textiles, especially those made from natural fibers, show an unpleasant hardening after drying. In addition, the electrostatic charge is an unpleasant property when wearing synthetic fibers.
Such negative properties of machine wash can be largely eliminated by post-treatment of the laundry in the last rinse cycle with so-called fabric softeners. The lifespan of a piece of laundry is also demonstrably extended. The use of fabric softening agents also reduces the residual moisture after spinning and thus shortens the drying time. The following requirements are placed on a good concentrate of fabric softener:
Good cold water dispersibility, no thickening of the formulation in storage, no separation of the formulation and no formation of sediment.
In the fabric softening agents described there, the above-mentioned requirements are met by combining the quaternary ammonium compounds serving as fabric softening agents with a fatty acid alkylolamidoethoxylate.
The fabric softener concentrates described there are produced by adding fatty acid alkylolamidoxalkylates and nonionic dispersants or emulsifiers based on oxalkylates, which help to ensure that the concentrate is readily dispersible in cold water.
These are cationic or non-ionic surface-active substances, electrolytes, acidifying agents, organic complexing agents, optical brighteners, solubilizers and colorants and fragrances. They serve to additionally influence the handle of the goods or other properties of the textiles to be treated or to adjust the viscosity, to regulate the pH value or to increase the stability at low temperatures.
The laundry fabric softener concentrates according to the invention have a solids content of at least 25% by weight, preferably 25 to 75% by weight, particularly preferably 25 to 60% by weight.
The laundry softener concentrates according to the invention impart any textile materials, especially those made from natural or regenerated cellulose, Wool, regenerated cellulose, cellulose triacetate, polyamide, polyacrylonitrile, polyester or polypropylene have a pleasant and soft feel. The use as a laundry treatment agent for terry cloth and underwear is particularly advantageous.
These concentrates are prepared by simply mixing or dispersing the individual components a) to d) and, if appropriate, e) in water. The concentrates either contain one compound of components a) to e) or they contain a mixture of two or more compounds of components a) to e) within the specified limits. If there is a mixture of two or more compounds of components a, b, c, d or e, their mixing ratio with one another is completely uncritical and can take on any value. The amounts of the individual components a) to d) are chosen within the limits specified so that the finished concentrate, including any additional amounts of water and auxiliaries, gives 100% by weight. The amount of the fabric softener / detergent concentrate according to the invention is about 10-20 g per 4 kg of laundry. These concentrates are used as usual by adding them to the final rinse water after washing the fabrics. The fabric softener concentrates described above have good softening properties. They are characterized by good perfume compatibility and stability. The cold water dispersibility is excellent. No gel formation was observed. The formulations also show a low viscosity in a highly concentrated form. Thickening or gelling after a long storage period (30 days) does not occur. Another object of the invention is thus the use of the fabric softener concentrates according to the invention for the production of emulsions.
The following examples describe some fabric softeners according to the invention. Percentages are percentages by weight in all cases. The The formulations are prepared by stirring the liquid, powdered or melted components into optionally heated water.
