Description

The present invention relates to an electrical appliance comprising a plastic cover or cover and provided with at least one connection terminal using a conductor clamping screw whose threaded rod can be screwed into a clamping hole tapped with a fixed connection piece and whose head is itself threaded to ensure, at the end of unscrewing, the maintenance of this head in a hole retaining cylindrical formed in the cover.

An apparatus comprising connection terminals of this type is described in patent FR-2,667,989. The operator working on such a terminal experiences some difficulty in screwing or unscrewing the screw when the threads of the head and corresponding threaded hole in the cover are engaged.

The invention aims to overcome this drawback by allowing a electrical device to accept connection of cables or closed lugs to the by means of screw terminals, while reducing the effort required to operate the screws.

Another purpose is to not alter the alignment of the screw or the internal thread in the cover.

According to the invention, the retaining thread is provided on an internal part of the cylindrical hole of the cover, the remaining external part of the cylindrical hole having a sufficient length to accommodate most of the length of the threaded part of the head quote. This results in a significant reduction in the effort for operating the screw.

Preferably, the screw is provided with a captive tightening plate applicable on one side against the conductor to be clamped and on the other side against a surface of the hood stop, the thread of the screw head being essentially free from the retaining thread when the plate is in abutment. As a result, the nets of retainers are not damaged when the screw turns to empty after the stop of the the clamping plate.

The retaining thread can advantageously be provided on elements radially projecting and occupying small sectors provided at angular intervals regular, for example at 120 °, from the circumference of the cylindrical hole of the cover.

The diameter of the tapped part and the non-tapped part of the hole cylindrical cover advantageously differ from a small radial clearance to allow satisfactory alignment of the threaded rod with the clamping hole when the screw, the head is engaged in the retaining thread, must be screwed to tighten the conductor by means of the plate.

When the retaining thread is pre-tapped, it is preferably made with a derating generating a predetermined play absorbing the phase shift angle of the threaded rod clamping and head retaining assemblies.

A nonlimiting embodiment of the invention will be described below with reference to the drawings.
  • In the drawings, FIG. 1 schematically represents part of an electrical appliance provided with a specific screw connection terminal according to the invention.
  • Figure 2 is a section on II-II of a detail of Figure 1.
  • Figure 3 is a perspective view before cutaway of this detail.
  • Figures 4 and 5 show the screw terminal in two different operating phases.
  • Figure 6 shows an example of derating the retaining thread.

The screw terminal illustrated in the figures includes a screw A intended for cooperate on the one hand with a fixed conductive surface B kept fixed in a base or a case C of a low-voltage electrical appliance and on the other hand with a cover E attached to the base of the appliance. The term cover below used must be understood in the sense large and designates any cover, cover or case capable of enveloping all or part of one or more terminals of the device.

A has a head 10, a threaded rod 11 and a core 12 intermediate between the head and the threaded rod a clamping plate 13 is retained captive, but with a certain freedom of movement, on the nucleus 12. The plate 13 can be rectangular and flat or can have a V shape as shown in the figures. The male thread T1 of the rod 11 cooperates with a female thread T'1 provided in a tapped hole in the fixed conductive area B.

Les pas des filetages T1, T2 sont identiques et la partie 16 de diamètre réduit permet de centrer le filetage T2 sur T'2.The head 10 of the screw has a threaded portion 15 of diameter greater than that of the rod 11 and an operating part 16 provided with imprints for a toumevis; this part 16 is smooth and has a reduced diameter compared to the part 15. The male thread T2 of part 15 cooperates with a female retaining thread T'2 provided in a cylindrical hole 17 formed in a relatively rigid wall 18 of the cover E which is perpendicular to the axis X-X of the screw. The thread pitches T1, T2 are identical and the reduced diameter part 16 makes it possible to center the thread T2 on T'2.

To reduce the operating forces, the retaining thread T'2 is provided only on an internal part 19 of length ℓ 1 of the cylindrical hole 17 of the cover E; the remaining external part 20 of the hole 17 is not threaded and has a length capable of accommodating the length of the threaded part 15 of the screw head, ℓ 1 being less than the total half-length of the hole. The diameter D of the part 20 of the hole 17 is slightly greater than the diameter D'2 of the part 19 (outside diameter of the thread T'2) so that the part 15 of the screw head can move with a small radial clearance in part 20, in order to maintain good axial guidance of the screw without excess operating forces.

Stop surfaces 21 are provided on the inside of the cover E to stop the wafer 13 and prevent the extraction of the screw A from the device. When the plate 13 is applied against the surfaces 21, an axial clearance e exists between the head 10 of the screw and the threaded part 19 of the hole 17. The cover E is fixed to the base C of the device by permanent lateral connections 22 or removable, for example snap-fastening, arranged to resist the forces exerted along XX on the wall 18 when the threads T2, T'2 start to engage while the threads T1, T'1 are still in engagement.

The female retaining thread T'2 can be provided around the entire circumference of a part of length ℓ 1 of the cylindrical hole 17 (FIG. 1). It is however preferably provided on small radially projecting elements in the form of sectors 23 of the circumference, for example at 120 ° (Figures 2 and 3). The total length of the threads of thread T'2 is much less than that of the threads of thread T2. Side partitions 24 are provided in the housing C and / or the cover E to isolate the terminal and guide the plate 13 in its translational movement along XX.

The female retaining thread T'2 can be obtained either by self-tapping of the hole 17 of the wall 18 of plastic material by the male thread T2 of the head metal of the screw, either by prior tapping of hole 17 with a clearance predetermined to absorb the angular phase shift of the threaded connections T1, T'1 of the rod 11 and T2, T'2 of the head 10.

Le fonctionnement de la bome décrite va être décrit à présent en regard des figures 1, et 5.The operation of the described terminal will now be described with regard to Figures 1, and 5.

To clamp the bare end of a conductor or cable F into the terminal, the screw A is rotated by means of a screwdriver introduced through the cylindrical hole 17 so as to come from the "open" position illustrated in FIG. 4 or 5 in which the threads T2, T'2 are engaged or of an intermediate position in which the threads T2, T'2 are not engaged until the tightening position illustrated in FIG. 1. The stirrup 13, held captive on the core 12 of the screw, is guided by the partitions 24 and pivots to adapt to conductor F and to clamp it between itself, set stop against the underside of the screw head, and the fixed conductive pad B.

To fully open the boom and in particular allow it to accept the introduction of closed lugs G (FIG. 5), the screw (FIG. 4) is rotated so as to engage at least a first thread of T2 in T'2, while the threads T1, T'1 remain in engagement. The centering of the head 10 in the hole 17 is obtained by its reduced part 16 and / or by centering conformations linked to cover E. If the hole 17 has not been previously tapped, the male threads T2 create the female threads T'2 in the radially projecting elements 23 while the fixed area B takes up the corresponding forces via the threads T1, T'1. If hole 17 was previously provided with a thread T'2, the angular phase shift of the threaded connections T1, T'1 of the rod and T2, T'2 of the screw head can be caught by making the T'2 thread with a derating determining a radial clearance 25 and an axial clearance 26 absorbing the phase shift.
