Abstract
Transportable device for grinding petrol or Diesel engine cylinder heads. The invention also concerns a transportable device for grinding (surfacing) petrol or Diesel cylinder heads when the engine has been removed. Figure 1 illustrates the device consisting of a tool holder plate (1) placed in the middle of two blocks (2), the blocks themselves being placed along the length of the cylinder head. A clamping arm system (3) is placed on the cylinder head lateral ports and is fastened thereto by bolts. The blocks are then removed, the device's position on the cylinder head is verified by means of comparators (4) and adjusted a last time according to the adjustments made to the clamping arm system (3). The cylinder head grinding tool (5) is then mounted onto the tool holder plate (1). A system for longitudinal, transversal and vertical feed of the manual or motorized tool-carrying system, in conjunction with the motorized rotation of the tool holder plate with its tool, performs grinding of the cylinder head. When the device is not positioned on the cylinder head, feet adjustable in length (6) ensure that the device does not rest on the tool holder. The device according to the invention is especially intended for garages, automobile, tractor and boat repair workshops and indeed for all precision mechanical workshops where Diesel or petrol engine cylinder head grinding is to be performed.
Description
The present invention relates to a transportable device for grinding cylinder heads of petrol or diesel engines.
The rectification of these cylinder heads is traditionally done by a precision mechanics workshop which often has machines suitable for this operation, but these machines are for the use of precision mechanics workshops, that is to say intended to be used by qualified technicians.
The device according to the invention makes it possible to easily carry out by the mechanic himself in his own workshop the rectification of the cylinder heads of engines which have been dismantled. The device can be used without any particular support other than the floor or a workbench.
Furthermore, tightening the cylinder heads in most traditional systems brings with it the risk of deforming the cylinder head due to the pressure exerted to immobilize it. The system according to the invention does not entail any risk of deformation of the cylinder head.
Sous l 'alaisage, une rainiure permet par une vi la traversant (15) de serrer la partie sur l'axe du châssis d dispositifWhen the cylinder head has been dismantled and placed on the ground or on a workbench, the device according to the invention is lifted by two handles and placed on two calluses, themselves placed on the surface of the cylinder head to be rectified, then fixed on the cylinder head by four movable arms. The system is checked and then fixed before rectification. Figure 2 shows the different elements of one of the four clamping arms. This arm is fixed to one of the lateral orifices of the cylinder head by a part (8) by means of two bolts. This part pivots on an axis of the part (9) which has a thread. In this tapping is screwed an axis (10) having a straight thread then a bulge (it) then a . left thread which screws into the threaded part of the upper arm. On both sides of the bulge, the threads are opposite - right thread, left thread - The bulge is drilled in a point (12) to allow, by means of a small axis acting as a key, to rotate the two axis opposite threads which, when turned in one direction o in the other, lengthens or shortens the clamping arm. The top of the arm has a bore (13) through which passes an axle (14) forming part of the chassis of the device according to the invention. Under the alaisage, a groove allows by a vi through it (15) to tighten the part on the axis of the chassis d device
Figure 3 shows the frame (16) composed of guide pins (17) and slides (18) with, over its width, the handles (7) for carrying the device. The chassis will be along the length of guide pins and slides for the tool holder system. The clamping arms (3) are mounted on these guide pins on which they can slide according to the size of the cylinder head to be ground. The lead screw (19) moves the tool holder assembly forwards or backwards. The motor with variator and reverser (20) drives the lead screw, while another motor with variator (21) drives the tool holder.
est maintenu par quatre vis (30) , un plateau (31) coulissant sur les deux coulisses latérales (18) formant le châssis du dispositif .Figure 4 shows one of the four feet of adjustable length (6) which are mounted on the width of the frame (16 They consist of two parts which fit one (22) into the other (23) and whose position is blocked by a vi (24). These feet are terminated by rubber pads (25). When the device mounted on a cylinder head is adjusted, o puts the extendable feet so that they touch the ground or the "established without carrying the weight of the device. They represent a safety and make it possible to suppress the vibrations which can occur during rectifications When the cylinder head is removed, these feet allow the device not to rest on the tool holder. 5 shows the tool holder device with its system allowing the tool holder to be raised or lowered. In the part (26) there is a general axis (27) which has a thread. An axis (28) threaded in its lower part enclosed by two bearings allows to lower endre the general axis (27) by means of a crank (29) fixed on the threaded axis (28). This plate (33) goes up and down precisely on five guides (35). On one of these guides is attached a comparator for measuring the vertical displacements of the system. On the plate (33) is fixed by screws (36) a sliding system which allows the lateral movement of the knife-holder plate (1) by crank (37) on mother screw (38).
Figure 7 shows the trapezoid slide system.
Cet ensemble de systèmes forme un seul bloc posé sur les guides .(fig.5), and the lateral movements (fig.6 and 7) and the tool carrying system form a sliding assembly on the guides fixed to the chassis. This set of systems forms a single block placed on the guides.
In Figure 6, in the bearing box (39), two bearings enclose the axis (40) of the tool holder plate (1). Between the bearing box (39) and the tool holder plate (1), a pulley (32) connected by belt to the motor fitted with a variator allows the drive of the plate. The system carries a comparator (4) which acts as a depth checker, that is to say it makes it possible to assess the thickness of cylinder head removed. This comparator is graduated in 1/100 ° d millimeter. The variation in height of the tool holder is therefore evaluated in hundredths of a millimeter.
Figure 8 shows the tool tray (in this case knife holder). It has two tool holder receptacles. In these receptacles, the tool holders have an adjustable entry depth. To balance the tool-holding plate (1) during its rotation, the tool-carrying plate carries diametrically opposite to the knife-holder (41), a comparator-holder (42) having substantially the same weight as the knife-holder assembly knife. The part carrying the tool e that carrying the axis on which the comparator is fixed during checks are similar. The entry depth of both parts (41) and (42) in the tool holder plate are adjusted according to the width of the cylinder head to be ground, the two parts must always be placed at the same depth to balance the system. Each is clamped in the tool holder plate by a screw. The comparator checks the position of the system on the surface of the cylinder head. It is also graduated to 1/100 ° d millimeter.
Once the adjustments and final tightenings have been made, the rectification can begin. The device according to the invention concerns all garage owners but also all workshops which need to carry out engine corrections easily and quickly.
