Abstract

The handle (1) is made in flexible material and in cross section it is shaped like a question mark. It has an upper groove (4) in which the upper edge of a rectangular hole in the drawer engages. The outer side of the groove (B1) has a lower part (3) for gripping it. The inner side of the groove is formed by a shoulder (5) on an inclined ramp (R). Description

The subject of the present invention is a handle, in particular a label holder, for a wall and the wall, in particular a drawer front wall, intended to be fitted with it.

The operation of a furniture drawer being made possible by the gripping of a handle which is provided with the front face of the drawer, the only means of obtaining its opening by traction, numerous handles have obviously been proposed.

Leaving aside those only consisting of a button, most are formed by a handle or a shell, fixed to the drawer, by riveting or screwing their ends or edges on the front face of it, that this drawer either wood, metal, plastic or any other rigid material. The handle is then protruding outside the drawer, which offers the advantage of not reducing, with any rivets or nuts for fixing, the useful interior space of the drawer, but has the disadvantage of increasing the 'before its external dimensions "overall", and exposing the drawer to an untimely opening by "hooking" the handle, significant drawback for the drawers of work furniture: office or workshop.

Admittedly, we can also limit ourselves to piercing the front face of the drawer with an oblong opening through which we pass the last phalanges of the four fingers of the hand, gripping the wall of this front face, which plays the role of handle , between the thumb and these four fingers of the hand. If one thus overcomes any additional space, both inside and outside, it comes at the cost of a significant reduction in security: even locked, the drawer can be, at least partially, emptied of sound contained through this oblong opening.

To overcome this drawback, it is possible to prohibit access to the interior of the drawer, through this opening, by the arrangement of a part, forming a screen, inside the drawer. This piece, of considerable bulk, is permanently fixed to the front face of the drawer by screwing, riveting or crimping, or even, in the case of metal drawers, by welding, all arrangements which complicate the manufacture of the drawer and increase its cost.

In addition, it is common to provide the drawers with the above-mentioned work furniture, which also has a classification role (of documents or parts), with labels allowing the content to be identified immediately, either by direct and permanent adhesion. of the label on the front face of the drawer, either removably, by insertion of said label in a frame attached to this front face, an arrangement which also complicates the manufacture of the drawer.

Of a particularly advantageous design, the handle according to the invention obviates the aforementioned drawbacks, requiring, for its maintenance on the wall, retained by the upper and lower edges of the window from which this wall is pierced, none of the means mentioned above, and limiting its size, from behind the wall, to the strict minimum, thanks to an ergonomic configuration, its shape being adapted to that of the fingers of the user's hand.

Intended to equip a wall, in particular the front wall of a drawer, on which it is mounted, retained by the upper and lower edges of a rectangular window from which said wall is pierced, this handle has a cross section substantially in the form of a point question mark, is provided with an upper front band, the upper part of which covers said upper edge and the base of which constitutes the handle gripping member, as well as a substantially planar inclined lower part carrying a lower front band covering said lower edge.

It is characterized in that, devoid of lateral end flanks, it is exclusively constituted by a section of profile, therefore of strictly uniform cross-section, made of flexible material, in particular polyvinyl chloride, and comprises on the one hand a continuous lower groove carried internally by the lower strip, for the embedding of the lower edge, on the other hand, extending said inclined lower part: a substantially vertical concave middle part conforming to the contour of the fingers of the user's hand, extended by an inclined ramp, the shoulder of which forms the internal flank of a continuous upper groove delimited externally by the upper part of the upper frontal strip, ramp and shoulder which delimit a prismatic volume inside the handle; the whole arranged so that, this handle being presented outside the window, its lower groove straddling the lower edge of the latter, it is introduced through the window, pivoting around this edge and in bending of the profile by the support of the upper edge of the window on the ramp, until, this upper edge being at the base of the upper groove, the latter engages therein, by embedding by clipping the handle between said edges.

According to its preferred embodiment, the handle according to the invention is designed to removably carry a label identifying the content of a drawer.

To this end, the substantially planar portion of the section of section forming the handle consists of a strip of transparent material, in particular a strip of transparent polyvinyl chloride secured to the rest of the section and coming in one piece with the latter by extrusion. in bi-injection, and, parallel to and under this substantially planar part of the section of the profile, delimiting with this transparent strip a thin longitudinal housing in which the label is inserted, there is provided in the profile a plane longitudinal wall whose base, bent, extends upward the rear flank of said lower groove and the upper end of which is connected to the rest of the profile at the junction of its concave part, substantially vertical, and its substantially planar part, oblique.

The invention further relates to the wall intended to be equipped with this handle. This wall (which is sheet metal according to the preferred embodiment of the invention) is characterized in that its surface is pierced by said window, of a rectangular shape, with parallel upper and lower edges, cut into sharp edges.

According to this preferred embodiment, this window is limited to a simple rectangular opening, with lateral edges parallel, also cut into sharp edges.

Once the handle is recessed by clipping, the label can easily be inserted into its housing by the rear of the wall, which remains in communication with the outside via the two lateral open sides of the handle.

However, one may wish to prohibit this communication between the rear and the front of the wall, in particular to prevent the passage of dust.

Alternatively, and for this purpose, provision may be made to close these two lateral flanks of the handle by means of cheeks obtained by folding at 90 ° two symmetrical cuts made, with the contour corresponding to the section of the profile, in the sheet metal. the surface of said wall, these cheeks may or may not also close the lateral openings of the housing of the label which, therefore, cannot, respectively, can be inserted into its housing from the rear of the wall.

The handle for a drawer according to the invention is intended to be mounted on the front face T , T 'or T ''of the drawer, retained by the lower edges B and upper H of a window from which said front face T , T is pierced. 'or T ''(Figures 12 to 25).

Referring now to Figures 1 to 8, and very particularly to Figure 6, this handle 1, according to the preferred embodiment of the invention, consists of a section, of about 10 cm, cut to length fingers of the hand (Figure 7), of flexible material profile, in this case polyvinyl chloride (PVC), the cross section of which, as it appears in Figure 5 A , has substantially the shape of a question mark.

This section of profile, like the profile itself, obtained by extrusion, successively comprises (FIG. 6) from top to bottom: an upper groove 4, in which the upper edge H of said window is embedded and whose external flank is formed by the upper part 2 of a front band B1 whose base 3 constitutes the gripping member of the handle 1, while the internal flank of this groove 4 is constituted by the shoulder 5 of an inclined ramp R connected to the shoulder 5 by a longitudinal flat top S , and delimiting with said shoulder a prismatic volume 6 inside the handle 1; this ramp R itself; a concave, substantially vertical part V , connected to the ramp R by an inflection edge L (see also FIGS. 2 and 4), forming a housing for the fingers of the user's hand and conforming to their contour (FIG. 8), according to an important ergonomic feature of the invention; a substantially flat part and inclined P , respectively P ' (FIG. 6A); and, finally, a second front strip B2 , parallel to the first, B1 , and carrying, inwards, under the inclined flat part P , or P ' (FIG. 6 A ), a second groove 7, lower, in which comes fit the lower edge B of the window.

With reference to FIGS. 7 and 8, the substantially vertical concave part V of the handle 1 is conformed to the contour of the fingers of the hand of the user which come to lodge there naturally (ergonomic characteristic of the handle), limiting to the strict minimum (approximately 1.5 cm / Figures 5 and 5 A ) the depth of the handle, which therefore encroaches very little on the interior volume of the drawer: while the thumb, α, is supported on the first front band B1 ( Figure 7), the last two phalanges of the index, β, are housed in contact with the prismatic volume 6 and the upper part of the concave part V , in front support on the base 3 of this strip B1 , base 3 which , pinched between this index, β, and the thumb, α, constitutes the gripping member of said handle.

While the last phalanges of the middle finger, γ, lodge partially behind this base 3, against the median and vertical portion of the concave part V , those of the ring finger, δ, and of the little finger, ε, apply respectively against the substantially planar part P , or P ' (Figure 6 A ) of the handle 1, or 1' (Figure 6A ) and against the second front strip, lower B2 . Figure 8 clearly shows, at the end of the handle and these fingers, the maximum use by the latter of the interior space of the handle.

It will be noted that, for gripping the handles of the bottom drawers, the thumb resting against the first front strip B1 , the last phalanges of the four joined fingers can also be accommodated in the handle, oriented from bottom to top, in simultaneous engagement with their four ends aligned in the prismatic volume 6.

What has just been described applies equally to the variant embodiment ("blind" handle) 1 'of the handle according to the invention, without label port, and the substantially planar part P ' (Figure 6 A ) connects in a single extruded part the substantially vertical concave part V and the second front strip, lower, B2 , as well as the preferred embodiment 1, label holder, of the handle according to the invention, shown in figures other than Figure 6 A and whose particular characteristics will now be described, in particular with reference to Figure 6 of the drawing.

This handle 1 being designed to removably carry a label identifying the content of the drawer equipped with this handle, said substantially flat part, P , of the section of section of which it is formed, consists of a strip of transparent material, U , in this case a transparent "crystal" polyvinyl chloride (PVC) strip, integral with the rest of the profile and coming in one piece with it by bi-injection extrusion. On the other hand, parallel to and under this substantially planar part P of the profile section, delimiting with said transparent strip U a longitudinal housing 8, into which the label is inserted (not shown in FIG. 6), is provided in the profiled a flat longitudinal wall 9, the bent base of which 11 extends upwards the rear flank of said lower groove 7, and the upper end of which 10 connects to the rest of the profile at the junction its concave, substantially vertical part V , and its substantially planar, oblique part P.

The underside of the strip of transparent material U, inside said housing 8, can be, in accordance with the drawing and advantageously, slightly curved, so as to apply, under slight pressure, the label E (figure 9) or E '(figure 10) against said flat longitudinal base 9 and to prevent its inadvertent sliding, in particular by inertia.

As shown in FIG. 9, the label E , planar can only be provided at the right width of the housing or, as a variant shown in FIG. 10, this label E ′ can be provided to occupy the entire width of the housing 8 and present then, like said housing 8, an elbow X.

Alternatively, shown in Figure 11, the upper surface of said strip of transparent material is slightly curved, forming a cylindrical magnifying glass G , to enlarge the vision of the inscriptions carried by the label E or E '(handle 1 a ).

Alternatively also, this transparent material can be tinted in its mass, independently of the color of the label E or E ', in order to increase the variety of the handle.

With reference now to FIGS. 12 to 21, the drawer, also an object of the invention as it is intended to be equipped with the handle described above and to be adapted to it, present, according to its preferred embodiment, a front face T , T 'or T ''in sheet metal, pierced with a window, rectangular in shape, the width of the handle (Figure 12).

In its simplest form (Figures 12,13,14 and 19), this window consists of a simple rectangular opening, with lower edges B , upper H and lateral edges C and C ', two to two parallel opposites, cut into sharp edges , with a cookie cutter, in the front face T of the drawer (Figure 13).

Figures 14 and 19 show on the one hand that it is then possible to insert the label E in its housing 8 through the interior of the drawer, on the other hand that the interior of the drawer then remains in communication with the outside, by the open side flanks of the handle 1.

If you wish to prohibit this communication, you can use, among other things, one of the following two variants.

According to a first variant (FIGS. 12, 15, 16 and 20), the two lower edges B and upper H remaining cut into sharp edges, the two lateral edges of said window consist of two parallel cheeks J and J ', obtained by folding down at 90 °, towards the inside of the drawer, of two symmetrical cutouts made in its front face T ', with the complete contour of the profile, taken between the levels of the upper H and lower B edges of the window, this folding down taking place along the two fold lines 12 and 12 ′ at the spacing of the width of the handle, and these two cheeks J and J ′ closing laterally the entire profile comprised between these two levels, including the housing 8 in which , therefore, the label E or E 'must be inserted before embedding the handle 1 in this window.

According to a second variant (Figures 12, 17, 18 and 21), the two lower edges B and upper H remaining cut into sharp edges, the two lateral edges of said window are formed by two parallel cheeks K and K ', obtained by folding at 90 °, towards the inside of the drawer, and along the two fold lines 13 and 13 'at the distance of the width of the handle, from two symmetrical cutouts made in its front face T '', at the contour of the profile taken between the levels of the upper H and lower B edges of the window, with the exception of the lateral openings of said housing 8 into which, therefore, the label E can be inserted, from inside the drawer, after embedding the handle 1 in this window.

All the elements which have just been described are arranged so that the handle 1 (or 1 ′, 1 a ), being presented outside the window, inclined, its lower groove 7 straddling the lower edge B of this window , as shown in FIG. 22, said handle is then introduced through the window, in pivoting, in the direction of the arrow " f1 ", around this lower edge B , first until the stop of the edge d inflection L (FIG. 23) against the upper edge H of the window, then, by pushing in the direction of the arrow " f2 " (FIG. 24) and in bending of said profile by pressing the upper edge H of the window on said ramp R , until (FIG. 25) the upper edge H of the window being perpendicular to said upper groove 4, this edge H engages therein, by embedding by clipping the handle between the two edges , lower B and upper H , of the window.

Thus recessed in the drawer window, without recourse at the slightest fixing piece, contrary to what occurs for the handles of the prior art mentioned in the preamble, the handle can, if necessary, be extracted therefrom, but voluntarily, from inside the drawer, by a bending of the profile, releasing the upper edge H of the window from the upper groove 4, and pushed out of the window, which excludes any untimely extraction, in particular the closed drawer.

In addition to equipping the front face of a drawer, which remains its main use, given the possibility that it offers, as a label holder, to indicate its content, the handle according to the invention can naturally equally well equip all kinds of walls, especially metal, to allow the operation.

Thus, the wall according to the invention can constitute such a front face of a drawer, maneuvered by the handle, in the direction perpendicular to the wall.

This wall can also constitute the front face of a hinged door, in particular the door of a wardrobe, or that of a workshop cupboard. The handle can then be mounted horizontally there, as shown in Figure 3, or, better, vertically as it appears in Plate VII / 12 (Figure 12) of the drawing. Equipping the door with a locker, the label holder handle according to the invention allows the identification of its user, by name or by writing a number.

This wall can also constitute the front face of a sliding door or partition, or the amount of a sliding curtain, the body of the handle being received between this front face and the opposite face of the sliding door or partition, respectively in the amount of the sliding curtain.

Said wall may also constitute one of the two lateral sides of a piece of furniture, portable thanks to two copies of the handle according to the invention, arranged horizontally as shown in FIG. 3, each of these two copies, facing each other. screw of the other, being carried by one of these two lateral flanks.
