Definitions

  • the present invention relates to screw cap caps which can be used usual way for sealing containers, such as bottles, the neck comprises means of cooperation complementary to the capsule for allow mounting and dismounting of the screw type.
  • the object of the invention relates more particularly to the capsules manufactured by molding, in semi-rigid plastic, and more specifically also the capsules which are provided with a tamper-evident witness guaranteeing from the user that the entire container has not been tampered with before the first opening made by the user.
  • the capsules of the above type generally include a top bordered by a substantially cylindrical skirt, provided on its internal face with a helical thread intended to cooperate with a complementary thread of the neck.
  • the base of the skirt is extended by a tamper-evident ring which is linked to the skirt by bridges or bridges of low mechanical tensile strength.
  • the tamper-evident ring has, from its base and in the direction of the inner peripheral surface, a so-called stop strip which is intended to come brace under a protrusion from the neck of the container neck in the position of mounting and closing.
  • the stop band remains immobilized by the projection of the container neck, which causes the breakable bridges to break allowing the capsule to be removed while leaving the suitable tamper-evident ring on the neck.
  • the prior art has proposed numerous embodiments for manufacturing such a capsule provided with a tamper-evident ring. It can be considered that the prior art knows two large families of rings.
  • the first is made to include, as a stop strip, a plurality of petals folded inwards.
  • the second is carried out so that the stop strip occurs continuously.
  • the capsules of the second family have a better guarantee of security, since continuous tape is, by nature, less subject to unwinding during opening compared to the petals whose smaller cross-section and greater flexibility leave such a risk of malfunction during the first opening.
  • the object of the invention relates more particularly to the capsules of the second family which can be illustrated in particular by European patent 0 200 293.
  • a second step it is then necessary to bend the continuous strip towards the inside of the capsule, for example by rolling, so that that after the first assembly, it is able to act by bracing from place itself under the projection of the neck of the container neck.
  • US Patent No. 4,458,822 discloses a capsule of this type on which the stop tape continuous is connected to the tamper-evident ring by a connection zone which, during molding and demolding of the capsule, extends in the extension of the skirt. After demoulding, a recovery operation is necessary to return the stop tape to inside, the connection area forming a fold, so that the stop tape can be engaged, during a first assembly of the capsule on the neck, under a peripheral projection of the latter.
  • the stop tape which includes from place to place thinner zones defining between them in the strip a plurality of sectors then has a continuous upper extreme edge, defining an orthogonal abutment plane to the axis of the capsule.
  • the object of the invention is precisely to remedy the above drawbacks, by proposing a new screw and belt capsule or type of violence witness continuous and can be manufactured without requiring a take-back operation to return or bend inward the continuous stop band, as required by means currently known and implemented.
  • the capsule according to the invention is characterized in that the ring stop band is provided for each sector and on its peripheral face internal with respect to the axis of the capsule of a rib having a edge which underlies said sector, said edges delimiting together a polygonal passage section whose circle inscribed is smaller in diameter than the largest circle bottleneck.
  • Figure 1 is a perspective of a capsule according to the invention.
  • FIG. 2 is a half-elevation half-section, on a smaller scale, of the capsule according to FIG. 1 .
  • Figure 3 is a plan view taken along line III-III of Figure 2 .
  • Figure 4 is a perspective, on a larger scale, of the tamper-evident belt separated from the capsule to show more precisely the constructive characteristics.
  • FIG. 5 is a partial section taken, on a larger scale, along the line V - V of FIG. 3 .
  • Figure 6 is a partial sectional elevation illustrating an alternative embodiment of the object of the invention.
  • the screw cap according to the invention comprises a top 1 bordered by a substantially circular skirt 2 , provided externally with means 3 intended to facilitate handling.
  • the means 3 can be constituted, by way of example, by grooves or the like formed in an axial direction.
  • the skirt 2 carries on its internal peripheral face means 4 for mounting by screwing and disassembly by unscrewing on the neck or neck of a container R which usually comprises elements of conformation complementary to the means 4 .
  • the means 4 can consist of one or more continuous or discontinuous helical threads.
  • the inner face of the top 1 can be fitted with an attached seal or optionally be provided with a circular lip 5 intended to penetrate inside the neck or the neck, to ensure, alone or in combination with a seal , the sealing function in the closed position of the capsule.
  • the above capsule is produced by molding in a single operation from a suitable raw material, in particular a thermoplastic polymer, of the type polyolefin for example.
  • the base of the skirt 2 is extended by a tamper-evident ring 6 , molded, which is linked to the base of the skirt by bridges or breakable bridges 7 having low mechanical tensile strength.
  • the tamper-evident ring 6 comprises a belt 8 , the base 9 of which is extended, beyond a connection ply 10 , by a stop strip 11 of continuous nature which is bent inclined inwardly of the capsule and towards the top 1 .
  • the strip 11 is produced to have a continuous upper end edge 15 defining an abutment plane P - P ' which is orthogonal to the axis x - x' of revolution of the skirt 2 .
  • the continuous upper end edge 15 is intended to engage and brace under the continuous or discontinuous peripheral projection S presented externally by the neck or the neck of the container R , when the capsule 2 is mounted on the latter. Such cooperation is in the known field and for this reason, only a representation in broken lines appears in Figure 2 .
  • the strip 11 within the meaning of the invention also comprises from place to place zones 16 of thinner thickness, but of non-breakable nature, the presence of which has the effect of delimiting in the strip 11 a plurality of sectors 17 generally covering the same angular range.
  • Each zone 16 is preferably produced in the form of a notch, of axial general direction, having an increasing depth in the direction of the edge 15 , so as to be substantially flush with the latter, as illustrated by FIGS. 1 and 4 more particularly.
  • each notch 16 originates substantially from the connection ply 10 , to relate to the entire useful height of the strip 11 .
  • the strip 11 has six notches 16 which delimit between them in the strip 11 six sectors 17 .
  • Such an exemplary embodiment is given only by way of illustration, because, depending on the sizes or the diameters of capsules, it may be envisaged to reduce or increase the number of notches 16 .
  • the strip 11 is produced by molding, so that each sector 17 is provided, on its internal peripheral face with respect to the axis x - x ' , of a rib 20 in the form of lunula which has an edge 21 subtending the sector 17 in the manner of a cord.
  • Each edge 21 is preferably rectilinear and is arranged in a plane which is between the plane P - P ' and the connection ply 10 .
  • the different ribs 20 thus define by their edges 21 a polygonal section more particularly illustrated in FIG. 3 and whose inscribed circle C is of a diameter D which is less than the largest diameter of the neck or the neck of the container.
  • each rib 20 is connected to the interior face of the sector 17 by a face 22 and to the continuous edge 15 by a face 23 .
  • FIGS. 1 , 2 and 4 show that the face 23 is curved and made so as to be flush with the edge 15 in its middle part.
  • the production of the strip 11 according to the invention and as described above has the objective of forming a continuous strip made up of successive sectors of relatively rigid nature and which are interconnected by the zones 16 of which the smallest thickness has two functions.
  • the first function is to admit a tensile or compressive stress capacity which makes it possible to mold the strip 11 in the original position, as illustrated by the drawings, and to release the capsule obtained by ejection and axial thrust with turning. flexible strip to facilitate ejection from the mold core.
  • the second function is to give the strip a kind of shape memory which, after the stretching constraint imposed during the demolding phase, automatically brings the strip 11 back into its inwardly bent position which is the one which is conferred on it by nature to cooperate with the projection of the neck, as shown in FIG. 2 .
  • the first plugging involves exerting an axial stress to fit the capsule onto the neck of the container.
  • edges 21 reduces the friction or the friction at the point of contact of each with the periphery of the neck and makes it possible to ensure, by axial constraint, an interlocking of the capsule which is facilitated by the bending ability of the strip 11 towards the interior authorized by the presence of the notches 16 .
  • the strip 11 When the nesting is performed, the strip 11 , via the notches 16 , restores the work stored by the stretching stress suffered, so that by shape memory, it tends to readjust its original stable position in which the edge 15 is brought back under the projection S of the neck of the container, as illustrated in FIG. 2 .
  • the possibility of directly fabricating the stop strip 11 in its functional position makes it possible to eliminate the usual phase or resumption of turning and therefore to increase the production rate, to increase the number of impressions which can be produced in a mold due to the absence of the sliders necessary for molding the conventional turning bands and being able to produce closure caps in this way at a lower cost price than current capsules.
  • the constructive arrangements implemented also make it possible to obtain a tamper-evident belt 6 having great operational safety, mainly due to the existence of the continuous edge 15 and to the presence of the ribs 20 , the upper faces 23 of which form an arc firm and resistant buttressing.
  • the presence of the ribs 20 opposes, moreover, any risk of unwinding of the strip 11 on the fold 10 during the unscrewing of the capsule, so that by the bracing carried out, an effective rupture of the bridges 7 occurs from the first unscrewing action imposed on the capsule.
  • Another advantage is also due to the fact that the ribs 20 , due to the presence of the edges 21 and the faces 22 , which respectively limit the surface contact and constitute sorts of engagement ramps, make it possible to assemble the capsule automatically without using means capable of developing a strong axial thrust requiring significant energy consumption.
