Description

The present invention relates to an accessory for assembling luminaire rails so as to form with them an L, a T or an X, the rails being cut into sections and being able to be assembled end to end by means of connection elements suitable for the section of the rails, accessory comprising on the one hand a support plate and so-called side walls fixed perpendicular to the support plate and forming with it a section similar to that of the rails, the side walls and the support plate together constituting a sort of gutter in in the form of a cross, and on the other hand, connection elements identical to those allowing the end-to-end assembly of the rail sections, in order to connect each time a rail section with one of the branches of the said cross.

An accessory for assembling rails according to the preamble is known from document CH-B-428 939. The accessory according to this document makes it possible to mechanically assemble electrical power gutters in which electrical wires are run to power various devices. , which are not necessarily luminaires, luminaires being also incorporated in some of the gutters.

The invention proposes to make it easier to manufacture the accessories and to mount the rails using the accessories.
For this purpose the side walls are formed by means of angle-shaped elements assembled on the support plate, four of them constituting together the kind of gutter in the shape of a cross, and assembly means are provided for at least one of the angle-shaped elements, which are of a type such that this element is removable by an installer.
Preferably the angle-shaped elements consist of three faces forming a trirectangle trihedron, with a triangular face applied to the support plate and two rectangular faces, the triangular face of the angle-shaped elements is provided with a first and a second orifice, the first of which has a lateral projection facing the second orifice, and the support plate has two screws, the spacing of which corresponds substantially to the distance between the bottom of said protuberance and the axis of the second orifice.
This embodiment allows economical manufacture and easy assembly / disassembly of the angle-shaped elements.
Each rectangular face advantageously carries along its edge furthest from the triangular face a projecting part for retaining the edge of a connecting element. This means for immobilizing the connection element is particularly simple.
Advantageously, each of the connection elements comprises at least one electrical connector element allowing the automatic connection of a section of rail when it is inserted into the accessory.
Thus the mounting of the rails is faster, since the mechanical assembly and the electrical connection are carried out in the same operation.
A luminaire structure is remarkable in that it includes accessories according to the invention.

These aspects of the invention as well as other more detailed aspects will become more clearly apparent from the following description of a nonlimiting embodiment. Figure 1 shows schematically two models of structure, to illustrate what the assembly accessories are used for.
Figure 2 shows in detail an assembly accessory seen from the side of the angle-shaped elements.
Figure 3 shows in exploded perspective all the elements of an assembly accessory.
FIG. 4 represents a simple square structure, illustrating a difficulty in mounting this structure. Figure 5 illustrates the mounting of a corner of a structure.

A".The two models of structure in Figure 1 consist, for the first (left), of 24 sections of rail, some of which are marked with "T", assembled in three lines each comprising three sections end to end and this in each of two perpendicular directions, and for the second (on the right) of 36 sections of rail, some of which are also marked with "T", assembled in six lines of one section respectively, three sections end to end, five sections end to end end, five sections end to end, three sections end to end, and finally a section, this in each of two perpendicular directions. The first model has sixteen assembly accessories, some of which are marked with "A", and the second model has twenty-four, some of which are also marked with "A".

The assembly accessory of FIG. 2 comprises on the one hand a support plate 10 and four angle-shaped elements assembled on the support plate and constituting with it a sort of gutter in the form of a cross, the center of the cross being in the center of the plate 10. These four elements are trihedrons and each have two rectangular faces which constitute side walls fixed perpendicular to the support plate 10, faces indicated by the references respectively 110,111, 120,121, 130,131, 140,141, and each one face triangular indicated by the reference respectively 11, 12, 13, 14. The set of rectangular faces forms with the support plate a kind of gutter in the shape of a cross. Connection elements 15, 17 identical to those allowing the end-to-end assembly of the rail sections, make it possible to connect each time a rail section with one of the branches of the cross formed by the accessory. Here only two of these connection elements are in place, which makes it possible to constitute an L-shaped assembly, and the element in the form of an angle 13,130,131 is not used. The trihedron-shaped elements are assembled on the plate 10 by means of a type such that this element is removable by an installer. To the right of the figure is shown in perspective one of these elements in the form of a trihedron, with its triangular face 13 and its two rectangular faces 130 and 131. The face 13 is provided with a first orifice 20 and a second orifice 21 The first orifice 20 has a lateral projection facing the second orifice. Each rectangular face 130, 131 of the angle-shaped element 13 carries along its edge furthest from the support plate a strip 19, folded outwards. This folding retains the upper lateral edge of one of the connecting elements 15 or 17. Of course other embodiments of these retaining means, for example two cutouts which each release a tongue folded outwards from the dihedral formed by planes 130, 131, or a stamp, can produce the same effect, provided that they provide a projecting part.
The support plate 10 has two screws 22, 23 whose spacing corresponds substantially to the distance between the bottom of said protuberance and the axis of the second orifice, and whose head has the same diameter as that of the orifices 20, 21. To put the element 13 in place, the head of the screw 23 is passed through the hole 23 in its loose but loosened position, and the triangular face 13 is slid towards the center of the plate, which passes the threaded part of the screw 23 in the lateral projection of the orifice 20; then we can drive the hole 21 around the head of the screw 22. Finally we tighten the screw 23. Each of these trihedral elements is equipped in the same way. Thus each is easily removable by an installer.
Each of the connection elements 15, 17 comprises an electrical connector element respectively 16, 18 which allows the automatic connection of a section of rail when the connection element is pressed into it.

Figure 3 shows an exploded view of an accessory with reference signs designating objects already mentioned. A cover 24 also makes it possible to hide the technical elements of the accessory, after mounting the rails.

In FIG. 4, three assembly accessories have been mounted, for example fixed to a ceiling, either directly below, or suspended by a system of rods, not shown. We first mounted the assembly accessory at the top left of the figure, then pressed two sections of rail into this assembly accessory according to arrows 1 and 2. Then we mounted the assembly accessory in top right of the figure, by pushing it according to arrow 3 at the end of a section already mounted and then fixing it to the ceiling. In the same way, the assembly accessory has been mounted at the bottom left of the figure, by pushing it in according to arrow 5 at the end of an already assembled section and then fixing it to the ceiling. Then the last two sections were pushed in according to arrows 4 and 6. It remains to mount the last assembly accessory at the bottom right. Unfortunately the assembly is impossible without twisting the elements already mounted, since it is not possible to push it in both directions 4 and 6.

En 4 enfin on replace l'élément en forme de cornière que l'on avait enlevé au début.FIG. 5 illustrates the mounting of this latter element in the case of an assembly accessory according to the invention. In 1 we remove one of the four angle-shaped elements, and in 2 we push a connecting element into the horizontal section. Then in 3, the assembly accessory, fitted with a connection element, is inserted into that of the rails which has no connection element. Finally, in 4, the element is replaced in the form of an angle iron which was removed at the start.
