Description

The present invention relates generally to signaling lights for motor vehicles, and relates more particularly to a new signaling comprising improved means of electrical connection between metal strips conductive provided on the lamp holder of such a fire with a connector.

Conventionally, a signal light includes, in addition to a base closed by an indicator, a lamp holder (s) provided for the back of the base and intended for mechanical mounting and the electrical connection of one or more lamps with a supply voltage.

The electrical connection between the lamps and a electrical connector for fire supply is performed conventionally by a set of conductive strips, formed by cutting from a metal sheet.

Generally, the connector (male or female) intended for connect these conductive strips to the electrical harness of the vehicle is welded to adjacent conductive strips.

This welding operation is naturally tedious and slows down the fire making process.

Un feu de signalisation selon la préambule de la revendication 1 est par example représenté dans le document DE-C-41 08 390.The present invention aims to overcome these drawbacks of the prior art and to propose a signaling in which the connector to be connected to the strips conductive can be a solder connector quite standard, which does not require a welding operation and whose mounting on the conductive strips is extremely simple and fast. A signaling light according to the preamble of claim 1 is for example represented in document DE-C-41 08 390.

Thus the present invention provides a fire signaling for a motor vehicle, of the type comprising a base closed by a light and housing at least one lamp, as well as a plurality of conductive strips provided at the back of the base and connected on the one hand to the base of the or lamps and secondly to a connector intended for receive a complementary connector of the electrical harness of the vehicle, the light being characterized in that the connector comprises at least one connection pin projecting from a housing connector, at least one conductive strip having a opening in which said spindle is forcibly engaged, the edges of said opening being shaped so as to clamping said pin on said strip.

Preferred, but not limiting, aspects of the signaling light according to the invention are the following:
  • the connection pin is a thin pin and in that the opening is a narrow notch formed on the conductive strip in the direction of its length,
  • the or each notch has, before the engagement of the spindle, a width substantially zero or less than that of the spindle
  • the or each pin of the connector has a tapered free end.
  • the or each pin of the connector has harpoon means at its free end.
  • there are further provided means for fixing the connector to an element of the light carrying the conductive strips.
  • the light consists of a multilamp light comprising a plurality of aligned lamps and that two conductive strips are provided for the simultaneous supply in parallel of said plurality of lamps.
  • the edges of the opening are shaped according to two coiled blades forming a spring.

  • Other aspects, aims and advantages of the present invention will appear better on reading the following detailed description of a preferred embodiment thereof, given by way of nonlimiting example and made with reference to the accompanying drawings, on which :
  • FIG. 1 is a side view in partial section of a connector and of an adjacent part of conductive strips of a traffic light, along line II of FIG. 2,
  • FIG. 2 is a top view of the representation of FIG. 1,
  • FIGS. 3a and 3b are cross-section views on an enlarged scale of the connection region of a conductive strip and a connector pin, and
  • FIGS. 4a and 4b are cross-sectional views of another possible variant for the connection between the conductive strip and a connector pin,
  • Figure 4c is a schematic perspective representation of a connector and an adjacent portion of conductive strip corresponding to the variant of connection illustrated in Figures 4a and 4b.
  • Figure 5 is a partial horizontal sectional view of a signal light incorporating conductive strips and a connector connected according to the present invention.
Referring first to Figures 1 and 2, we have shown two conductive strips 10a, 10b mounted on a lamp holder itself mounted on the back of a fire base motor vehicle signaling (these elements not being not shown), these bands being arranged in the same plane and parallel and close to each other.

In each strip 10a, 10b is formed a notch, respectively 101a, 101b, carried out during the operation of press cutting of the conductive strips from a metal sheet of appropriate thickness (typically a few tenths of a millimeter).

Preferably, this notch is formed without removal of material, so as to have a width practically zero, or at most equal to a fraction of the width of the connector pin as we will see more far. It is produced by two longitudinal shears and a transverse shear.

The two notches are formed side by side, as illustrated, with spacing equal to the distance between two connector pins.

Eventuellement, chaque broche peut comporter à son extrémité libre un aménagement formant harpon, respectivement 213a, 213b.The connector comprises a housing 20 made of material insulating housing a cavity intended to receive a additional connector. From this box do projection two connection pins 21a, 21b, each pin comprising a horizontal part, respectively 211a, 211b, followed by a descending vertical part, respectively 212a, 212b. Optionally, each pin may have at its free end an arrangement forming harpoon, respectively 213a, 213b.

The connector is mounted on the two strips conductive by forcefully engaging the vertical parts 212a, 212b of pins 21a, 21b in the notches respective 101a, 101b of the two bands.

In the case of FIG. 1, the arrangements forming harpoons provide extremely strong anchoring of the pins in the conductive strips. This assembly is confirmed by the screw 30, which is engaged for example in a barrel suitably positioned on the lamp holder on which are mounted conductive strips.

The arrangements 213a, 213b are optional. More particularly, and now with reference to Figures 3a and 3b, there are shown pins whose parts vertical 212a, 212b are simply tapered at their ends. The engagement of a pin 212a in the notch corresponding 101a causes a separation of the material of the conductive strip 10a on either side of the pin and its downward bending by the play of friction important between the spindle and the tape.

The elastic restoring force thus created in the band conductor in the vicinity of the notch 101a, combined with the forced inclination of the strip, provides an effect completely satisfactory attachment, so to do without attachment arrangements at the end of the spindle.

To achieve this result, each notch has a length of the order of several millimeters, chosen in particular depending on the width of the notch, the thickness of the strip and the width of the spindle.

Ces lames constituent les bords de l'ouverture 101a.In another variant, as illustrated on the FIGS. 4a to 4c, the vertical parts 212a, 212b of the pins 21a, 21b can be kept in the strip 10a by coiled blades 300 forming a spring produced by pairs in band 10a. These blades constitute the edges of opening 101a.

The distance l between two tab 300 facing the rest is less than the width L of the pins 21a, 21b, of so that a pin 21a, 21b inserted between two tabs 300 facing is held relative to the strip 10a by clamping between these tabs.

Elle réalise alors sur la broche un effet de harpon complémentaire de l'effet de serrage des lames 300.The opening 101a can be, in the same way as for the variant of Figures 3a and 3b a notch. She realizes then on the spindle a harpoon effect complementary to the clamping effect of the blades 300.

Now with reference to FIG. 5, we have represented a signaling light produced according to the invention. It's about in this case an additional raised brake light comprising a base 50 defining a plurality of associated mirrors each with a lamp 40, preferably of the "Wedge-Base" type (lamp without base). The base is closed by an indicator light 70, and a lamp holder 60 provided with conductive strips such as 10a is fixed on the back of the base to supply in parallel the various lamps 40, aligned with each other. We observe the connector body 20, intended to cooperate with an additional connector 80 from which range of conductors such as 81 of the beam vehicle, as well as the screw 30 engaged in a screwing barrel 61 of the lamp holder 60.

Of course, the present invention is by no means limited to the embodiments described and shown, but the person skilled in the art will be able to bring there any variant or modification according to his spirit.
