Definitions
- the invention relates to a double-barrel straight connector for connecting hollow spacer profiles or rung profiles of a multi-pane insulating glass formed from two parallel profile strands separated by insulation, which has at least two parallel glass panes which are separated from one another at their peripheral edge by the spacer profile.
- Spacer profiles with parallel profile strands for multi-pane insulating glass are known for example from EP 365 832. They are used in particular in cases where the inner pane of the multi-pane insulating glass is heated and for this purpose both the lowest possible thermal conductivity and the lowest possible electrical conductivity of the spacing profile are required in order to avoid thermal bridges or conductivity bridges to the outer pane. Therefore, the parallel profile strands are separated from each other by a suitable insulation, which in the known embodiment consists of a polyurethane potting compound, which connects them between the parallel profile strands to form a rigid, torsion-resistant unit.
- This air gap is due to the fact that the profile strand end faces abut the central stop ribs of the straight connector, so that the connection point of the profile strands, since these are cut off flush with the insulating compound located between them, has a gap in the region of the insulating compound that corresponds to the thickness of these stop ribs corresponds.
- the object of the invention is therefore to develop the double-barrel straight connector of the type mentioned so that a homogeneous connection can be produced inexpensively without an air gap between the profile strands.
- the straight connector has two pairs of two parallel legs separated by a distance, which extend in the longitudinal direction of the extruded profile and are connected to one another by a stop rib arranged transversely thereto, on which the end faces of the extruded profiles abut in the connected state of the hollow spaced profiles .
- the stop rib can be designed such that it extends around the surface of the parallel legs of the straight connector and also offers the possibility of serving as a wall element between these legs, the height of which is equal to or less than the largest leg cross-sectional profile height .
- the stop rib can also have a thickness that corresponds approximately to the wall thickness of the hollow profile strands and a height with which it extends beyond the surface of the legs, which corresponds to this wall thickness.
- the legs themselves can be designed as a hollow profile body with a continuous cavity that is not interrupted by the stop rib for the passage of the hygroscopic material in the longitudinal direction of the legs from one profile strand to the other profile strand connected.
- the double-barrel straight connector 1 shown in FIG. 1 has two pairs of spaced-apart parallel legs 2, 3 which extend in the longitudinal direction of the hollow profile strands A and B to be connected, which in turn are firmly connected to one another by a solid plastic insulating compound E.
- the parallel legs 2, 3 are connected to one another by a stop rib 4 extending transversely to the longitudinal direction of the extruded profile, on which the end faces 8, 9 of the extruded profiles A, B abut in the connection state of the hollow spacing profiles shown in FIG. 1.
- the thickness C of the stop rib 4 is slightly larger than the wall thickness D of the hollow profile strands in the embodiment shown, but can also be smaller.
- the height H, with which the stop rib 4 extends beyond the surface of the legs 2, 3, as can be seen in FIG. 3, corresponds to the wall thickness D, so that the surface of the profile strands A, B in the assembled state, as can be seen in FIG. 1 , is approximately flush in the connection area of the profile strands.
- the length of the legs 2, 3 is in itself arbitrary, but as a rule, as shown in the exemplary embodiment, the legs, measured from the stop rib 4, are of the same length.
- the outer ends 6, 7 of these legs are tapered, the top of the straight connector also tapering somewhat towards the ends, as shown at 10 in FIG. 2.
- the cross-sectional profile of the legs 2, 3 is conical in the embodiment shown, as indicated at 15 in FIGS. 1 and 4, but can also be designed differently to match the profile strand cross-section.
- the design of the underside 16 of the straight connector which is otherwise an injection molded body, is adapted to the respective purposes of use and can, for example, as shown in the illustrated embodiment, be characterized by transverse ribs 11, 12, 13, 14 and intervening depressions in order to to achieve a weight and material saving and on the other hand the desired contact spring force, which prevents the connection of the profile strands A, B from coming loose, the profile strand end faces 8, 9 thus leaving the stop rib 4.
- the legs 2, 3 can be designed as a hollow profile body, as shown in the exemplary embodiment, with a continuous cavity 17 which is not interrupted by the stop rib 4 and which is for the passage of the hygroscopic material in the longitudinal direction of the legs from one profile strand A or B to the other connected Profile strand A or B is suitable.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a double-barrel straight connector for connecting hollow spacer profiles or rung profiles of a multi-pane insulating glass formed from two parallel profile strands separated by insulation, which has at least two parallel glass panes which are separated from one another at their peripheral edge by the spacer profile.
Spacer profiles with parallel profile strands for multi-pane insulating glass are known for example from EP 365 832.
It has now been shown that in cases where such spacers are not to be connected to one another at their ends by so-called corner connectors, but rather as profile bodies which are rounded at the corners, as have long been used in spacer profiles consisting of a single profile strand , in the straight strand area are to be connected to one another in a torsionally rigid manner, a double-barreled straight connector is required, which does not consist of separate known straight connector bodies, but is intended to form a single component separate straight connector and because it eliminates the disadvantage that the connection point the profile strands have an air gap in the area of the insulating compound when using a conventional straight connector. This air gap is due to the fact that the profile strand end faces abut the central stop ribs of the straight connector, so that the connection point of the profile strands, since these are cut off flush with the insulating compound located between them, has a gap in the region of the insulating compound that corresponds to the thickness of these stop ribs corresponds.
The object of the invention is therefore to develop the double-barrel straight connector of the type mentioned so that a homogeneous connection can be produced inexpensively without an air gap between the profile strands.
This object is achieved in that the straight connector has two pairs of two parallel legs separated by a distance, which extend in the longitudinal direction of the extruded profile and are connected to one another by a stop rib arranged transversely thereto, on which the end faces of the extruded profiles abut in the connected state of the hollow spaced profiles .
According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the stop rib can be designed such that it extends around the surface of the parallel legs of the straight connector and also offers the possibility of serving as a wall element between these legs, the height of which is equal to or less than the largest leg cross-sectional profile height . The stop rib can also have a thickness that corresponds approximately to the wall thickness of the hollow profile strands and a height with which it extends beyond the surface of the legs, which corresponds to this wall thickness.
The legs themselves can be designed as a hollow profile body with a continuous cavity that is not interrupted by the stop rib for the passage of the hygroscopic material in the longitudinal direction of the legs from one profile strand to the other profile strand connected.
Further advantageous embodiments of the invention can be found in the subclaims.
