Definitions
- the invention relates to a connector for hollow profiles, in particular for forming spacer frames for insulating glass panes filled with drying agent.
- Such a connector is known from DE-OS 34 08 600, which consists of a U-shaped hollow body and has spring tongues and / or retaining lugs for securing the position of its legs in the hollow profile.
- the known connector is closed on the end and can only be inserted into the hollow profiles of the spacer frames after the desiccant has been filled in. As a result, there is no drying agent at the joints of the frame, which would be desirable with regard to the diffusion processes taking place there.
- the degree of filling of the remaining hollow profile areas is not optimal because of the subsequently introduced connector, since space must be left for the connector, which it does not completely fill.
- the known connector thus forces the hollow profiles to be filled before connecting these parts and possibly. also for bending the hollow profiles when filled.
- a corner connector which has a slotted cover tongue on the end faces which is intended to encompass the folded edge of a hollow profile bent or rolled from sheet metal.
- the interior of the corner connector is not filled with desiccant.
- DE-OS 26 15 746 also teaches a U-shaped corner connector, the central web of which lies flat against the hollow profile wall lying on the inside of the frame. The end faces are closed to keep the drying agent out of the interior of the corner connector.
- the invention solves this problem with the features in the characterizing part of the main claim.
- the drying agent can now pass through the corner connector by means of the axially continuous cavity and the open end faces.
- this has the advantage that the hollow profiles can be filled after assembly. As a result, not only easier handling, but also better distribution and a higher degree of filling of the hollow profiles is achieved.
- the invention also allows economical use of leftovers, especially short hollow sections. These are put together by connectors and then filled in one go.
- drying agent can now also accumulate in the area of the connector and become effective in the desired manner at the particularly diffusion-providing connection point of the hollow profiles.
- the invention thus also relates to a plug connection from two hollow profiles and a plug connector, and to a method for filling a spacer frame.
- the central web of the connector lies on the inside of the frame and thus prevents the drying agent from passing out of its hollow space into the insulating glass pane.
- This also enables the hollow profiles to be filled by the plug-in connector, in particular in the form of a corner connector. This applies to both miter cut and butted hollow profiles. In the encountered embodiment remains anyway the corner area is free on the outside, so that when the corner connector is fully inserted, both hollow profiles can be filled. There is also a positive optical effect at the joint of the hollow profiles. Due to the neighboring center bar, especially with metallic connectors, gaps at the joint are not noticeable.
- the connectors are then locked and guided in the hollow profiles only via retaining lugs. It is particularly advantageous if these are exposed by means of undercuts. This allows the retaining lugs to bend in two directions, so that a lug can simultaneously act horizontally and vertically. Overall, this results in better locking and guiding, for which purpose only a small number of lugs is necessary.
- the middle retaining tabs can also serve as a stop for the attached hollow profiles.
- the retaining lugs can only protrude laterally.
- the vertical guide is then performed by adjusting the height of the side bars. A particularly good guidance results if the side webs are variable in height and have a wedge shape rising towards the corner area. Likewise, it is also possible to arrange spring tongues on the central webs.
- the plug connector according to the invention or the plug connection can also be used for any other types and purposes of hollow profiles if these also have to be filled with granules or the like.
- the connector according to the invention can consist of metal, plastic or other materials and have a U-shape that is open on one side or a box cross-section that is closed on the side.
- the cross-sectional shape of the connector depends on the cross-section of the hollow profile, it can also be circular, oval, polygonal or in any other way.
- the connector according to the invention can be designed as a straight connector or as a corner connector. In the case of spacer frames with hollow metal profiles, it is advisable to manufacture the connector as a bent stamped part from sheet steel due to its better adhesion.
- FIGS. 1 to 9 show a plug connector (1) which is designed once as a straight connector (2) and once as a corner connector (3) which is preferably bent at right angles.
- the connector (1) shown is used to connect hollow profiles (11, 12) to a spacer frame (18) for insulating glass panes, which is filled on the inside with a drying agent (15).
- Fig. 10 shows the spacer frame (18) in both versions with straight connector (2) and corner connector (3).
- the connector (1) is manufactured in both versions as a stamped part made of sheet steel with a U-shaped cross section.
- the straight connector (2) has an axially freely continuous cavity (16) and large through openings on the front. In contrast to known connectors, there are no covers on the front. At most, the side webs (7) and the middle web (6) are bent a little inward to create a bevel (25) for easier attachment of the hollow profiles (11, 12).
- the drying agent (15) can pass through the end openings into the cavity (16) and thus get from one hollow profile (11) into the next hollow profile (12) via the connection point (20). In this way, it is also possible to fill several hollow profiles arranged one behind the other from one side.
- the drying agent (15) can also collect at the connection point (20) in the cavity (16).
- the straight connector is preferably inserted into the hollow profiles (11, 12) in such a way that its central web (6) faces the inside of the spacer frame (18). With its trough shape, a U-shaped straight connector (2) also makes it easier to fill with drying agent (15).
- the straight connector (2) has a pair of spring tongues (8) and (9) on either side of its center, which are each bent up from the central web (6) and point towards the center.
- the spring tongue pairs (8, 9) are each arranged symmetrically to the center.
- the outer spring tongues (8) are wider than the inner spring tongues (9) and have a curved edge.
- Triangular retaining lugs (10) are punched out and bent out on both sides of the center in the side webs (7) of the straight connector (2).
- the straight connector (2) thus has a fourfold retention in each hollow profile (11, 12), which makes unintentional removal impossible.
- the spring tongues (8,9) and the retaining lugs (10) also serve to guide the straight connector (2) in the hollow profiles (11, 12). They can also be adapted to the hollow profile contour for sealing purposes.
- the middle web (6) is here consistently smooth and without spring tongues. As illustrated in FIG. 9, the central web (6) lies over the entire surface of the hollow profile wall (19) located on the inside of the spacer frame (18). The height of the side webs (7) is coordinated so that the center web lies tightly against pressure.
- a number of retaining lugs (10) are provided in the region of the web edges (24), which preferably run parallel to the central web (6), for guiding and fixing the straight connector (2) in the hollow profiles (11, 12).
- the retaining lugs (10) are punched out at the front and on the side by undercuts (23) in the side webs (7) and are in the form of elongated tongues which are axially directed in the push-on direction.
- the undercuts (23) are oval and large in the side area of the retaining lugs and create space for a bending tool.
- the retaining lugs (10) are both lateral, i.e. horizontally, as well as upwards, i.e. bent vertically.
- the retaining lugs (10) guide the straight connector (2) horizontally and vertically in the hollow profile. Due to the opposing position, they also prevent the hollow profiles from being pulled off.
- FIGS. 4 to 6 show a corner connector (3) with attached hollow profiles (11, 12).
- the corner connector (3) which is U-shaped in cross section, is bent so that the central web (6) lies on the inside of the angle, while the side webs (7) point outwards.
- the legs (4,5) of the corner connector (3) are thus open to the outside.
- the central web (6) also lies flat against the hollow profile walls (19) pointing towards the inside of the spacer frame (18).
- the corner connector (3) in the corner area (17) has a reinforcing bead (14) that is curved toward the outside of the angle.
- the corner connector (3) also has an axially continuous cavity (16) and is open at the end.
- the attached hollow profiles (11, 12) can be filled with drying agents (15) from the corner area, which also accumulates within the angle legs (4, 5).
- the curved side webs (7) serve as a lateral guide when filling the drying agent (15). After filling, the corner area is sealed and sealed from the outside.
- the angled legs (4, 5) are adapted in cross-section to the contour of the hollow profile (11, 12) and are positively guided in their respective hollow profile (11, 12).
- the system on the side walls of the profile is secured here by four triangular retaining lugs, each punched out on the upper edge of the web (24) and bent out to the side.
- the side webs (7) are adapted to the profile height for guidance in the vertical axis of the hollow profile (11, 12).
- the upper web edges (24) come to rest on the sloping roof surfaces or the shoulder (21) of the hollow profiles (11, 12).
- the side webs (7) can be wedge-shaped.
- the height of the top edge of the web (24) increases from the front end of the angle legs (4, 5) to the corner area (17). In the corner area (17) it is preferably somewhat larger than the guide height of the hollow profile (11, 12).
- the side bars (7) thus cut something into the hollow profile (11, 12) to secure the bond.
- the leg (5) shows this web shape.
- the side webs (7) have in the corner area (17) laterally outward protrusions (13), which are produced by pre-stamping the board and finish stamping on the curved corner connector.
- the side webs (7) thereby reach approximately the same width as the hollow profiles (11, 12) and form stop edges for the hollow profiles (11, 12) with the straight edges of the stampings (13).
- the angled legs (4, 5) have bevels (25) on the central web (6) and the side webs (7) for easier insertion into the hollow profiles (11, 12).
- the shapes of the retaining lugs (10) and spring tongues (8, 9) shown in the exemplary embodiments can be varied, combined and interchanged.
- the double-sided retaining lugs (10) of FIGS. 7 to 9 can be used for the corner connector (3) and, moreover, also for any other U-shaped connector.
- the plug connectors (1, 2, 3) are first inserted into the hollow profiles (11, 12).
- the drying agent (15) is then introduced, the plug connectors (1, 2, 3) serving as a guide trough.
- the hollow profiles can be filled before or after bending in a one-piece spacer frame.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a connector for hollow profiles, in particular for forming spacer frames for insulating glass panes filled with drying agent.
Such a connector is known from DE-OS 34 08 600, which consists of a U-shaped hollow body and has spring tongues and / or retaining lugs for securing the position of its legs in the hollow profile. The known connector is closed on the end and can only be inserted into the hollow profiles of the spacer frames after the desiccant has been filled in. As a result, there is no drying agent at the joints of the frame, which would be desirable with regard to the diffusion processes taking place there. In addition, the degree of filling of the remaining hollow profile areas is not optimal because of the subsequently introduced connector, since space must be left for the connector, which it does not completely fill. The known connector thus forces the hollow profiles to be filled before connecting these parts and possibly. also for bending the hollow profiles when filled.
From DE-GM 80 17 644 a corner connector is known which has a slotted cover tongue on the end faces which is intended to encompass the folded edge of a hollow profile bent or rolled from sheet metal. The interior of the corner connector is not filled with desiccant.
Finally, DE-OS 26 15 746 also teaches a U-shaped corner connector, the central web of which lies flat against the hollow profile wall lying on the inside of the frame. The end faces are closed to keep the drying agent out of the interior of the corner connector.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to achieve a higher degree of filling of the hollow profiles and to improve the handling of the connectors and the hollow profiles.
The invention solves this problem with the features in the characterizing part of the main claim.
The drying agent can now pass through the corner connector by means of the axially continuous cavity and the open end faces. On the one hand, this has the advantage that the hollow profiles can be filled after assembly. As a result, not only easier handling, but also better distribution and a higher degree of filling of the hollow profiles is achieved. The invention also allows economical use of leftovers, especially short hollow sections. These are put together by connectors and then filled in one go. On the other hand, drying agent can now also accumulate in the area of the connector and become effective in the desired manner at the particularly diffusion-providing connection point of the hollow profiles.
The invention thus also relates to a plug connection from two hollow profiles and a plug connector, and to a method for filling a spacer frame.
In addition to this, it is expedient if the central web of the connector lies on the inside of the frame and thus prevents the drying agent from passing out of its hollow space into the insulating glass pane. This also enables the hollow profiles to be filled by the plug-in connector, in particular in the form of a corner connector.
For the above-mentioned effects, it is also advisable to make the center bar of the connector smooth and without spring tongues and to lay it flat against the inside of the hollow profile wall.
The connectors are then locked and guided in the hollow profiles only via retaining lugs. It is particularly advantageous if these are exposed by means of undercuts. This allows the retaining lugs to bend in two directions, so that a lug can simultaneously act horizontally and vertically. Overall, this results in better locking and guiding, for which purpose only a small number of lugs is necessary.
For straight connectors, the middle retaining tabs can also serve as a stop for the attached hollow profiles.
Alternatively, the retaining lugs can only protrude laterally. The vertical guide is then performed by adjusting the height of the side bars. A particularly good guidance results if the side webs are variable in height and have a wedge shape rising towards the corner area. Likewise, it is also possible to arrange spring tongues on the central webs.
In addition to spacer frames, the plug connector according to the invention or the plug connection can also be used for any other types and purposes of hollow profiles if these also have to be filled with granules or the like.
The connector according to the invention can consist of metal, plastic or other materials and have a U-shape that is open on one side or a box cross-section that is closed on the side. After the cross-sectional shape of the connector depends on the cross-section of the hollow profile, it can also be circular, oval, polygonal or in any other way.
The connector according to the invention can be designed as a straight connector or as a corner connector. In the case of spacer frames with hollow metal profiles, it is advisable to manufacture the connector as a bent stamped part from sheet steel due to its better adhesion.

Fig. 10 zeigt den Abstandshalterrahmen (18) in beiden Ausführungen mit Geradverbinder (2) und Eckverbinder (3).The exemplary embodiments in FIGS. 1 to 9 show a plug connector (1) which is designed once as a straight connector (2) and once as a corner connector (3) which is preferably bent at right angles. The connector (1) shown is used to connect hollow profiles (11, 12) to a spacer frame (18) for insulating glass panes, which is filled on the inside with a drying agent (15). Fig. 10 shows the spacer frame (18) in both versions with straight connector (2) and corner connector (3).
The connector (1) is manufactured in both versions as a stamped part made of sheet steel with a U-shaped cross section.
The straight connector (2) has an axially freely continuous cavity (16) and large through openings on the front. In contrast to known connectors, there are no covers on the front. At most, the side webs (7) and the middle web (6) are bent a little inward to create a bevel (25) for easier attachment of the hollow profiles (11, 12).
The drying agent (15) can pass through the end openings into the cavity (16) and thus get from one hollow profile (11) into the next hollow profile (12) via the connection point (20). In this way, it is also possible to fill several hollow profiles arranged one behind the other from one side. When hollow profiles (11, 12) are plugged together, the drying agent (15) can also collect at the connection point (20) in the cavity (16).
For this purpose, the straight connector is preferably inserted into the hollow profiles (11, 12) in such a way that its central web (6) faces the inside of the spacer frame (18). With its trough shape, a U-shaped straight connector (2) also makes it easier to fill with drying agent (15).
In the exemplary embodiment of FIGS. 1-3, the straight connector (2) has a pair of spring tongues (8) and (9) on either side of its center, which are each bent up from the central web (6) and point towards the center. In the drawings, the distance of the central web (6) from the opposite hollow profile wall is shown larger than real for better visibility. The spring tongue pairs (8, 9) are each arranged symmetrically to the center. The outer spring tongues (8) are wider than the inner spring tongues (9) and have a curved edge. Triangular retaining lugs (10) are punched out and bent out on both sides of the center in the side webs (7) of the straight connector (2). The straight connector (2) thus has a fourfold retention in each hollow profile (11, 12), which makes unintentional removal impossible. The spring tongues (8,9) and the retaining lugs (10) also serve to guide the straight connector (2) in the hollow profiles (11, 12). They can also be adapted to the hollow profile contour for sealing purposes.
Fig. 7 - 9 geben eine Variation des Geradverbinders (2) wieder. The middle web (6) is here consistently smooth and without spring tongues. As illustrated in FIG. 9, the central web (6) lies over the entire surface of the hollow profile wall (19) located on the inside of the spacer frame (18). The height of the side webs (7) is coordinated so that the center web lies tightly against pressure.
A number of retaining lugs (10) are provided in the region of the web edges (24), which preferably run parallel to the central web (6), for guiding and fixing the straight connector (2) in the hollow profiles (11, 12). The retaining lugs (10) are punched out at the front and on the side by undercuts (23) in the side webs (7) and are in the form of elongated tongues which are axially directed in the push-on direction. The undercuts (23) are oval and large in the side area of the retaining lugs and create space for a bending tool. As shown in FIGS. 7 and 8, the retaining lugs (10) are both lateral, i.e. horizontally, as well as upwards, i.e. bent vertically. They protrude above the web surface and over the upper web edge (24) and resiliently brace themselves both in the side wall of the attached hollow profile (11, 12) and in the heel (21) at the transition from the profile side wall into the inclined roof wall. As a result, the retaining lugs (10) guide the straight connector (2) horizontally and vertically in the hollow profile. Due to the opposing position, they also prevent the hollow profiles from being pulled off.
Fig.7 zeigt diese Stellung mit einem Hohlprofile (11).In the middle of the straight connector (2) two opposing retaining lugs (10) with a common undercut (23) are arranged. They are only bent to the side and a little stronger than the other retaining lugs (10) and form a stop (22) for the hollow profile that is attached from the opposite side. Fig. 7 shows this position with a hollow profile (11).
The corner connector (3), which is U-shaped in cross section, is bent so that the central web (6) lies on the inside of the angle, while the side webs (7) point outwards. The legs (4,5) of the corner connector (3) are thus open to the outside. The central web (6) also lies flat against the hollow profile walls (19) pointing towards the inside of the spacer frame (18). For stabilization, the corner connector (3) in the corner area (17) has a reinforcing bead (14) that is curved toward the outside of the angle.
The corner connector (3) also has an axially continuous cavity (16) and is open at the end. As a result, the attached hollow profiles (11, 12) can be filled with drying agents (15) from the corner area, which also accumulates within the angle legs (4, 5). In the corner area (17), the curved side webs (7) serve as a lateral guide when filling the drying agent (15). After filling, the corner area is sealed and sealed from the outside.
As in the previous exemplary embodiments, the angled legs (4, 5) are adapted in cross-section to the contour of the hollow profile (11, 12) and are positively guided in their respective hollow profile (11, 12). However, the system on the side walls of the profile is secured here by four triangular retaining lugs, each punched out on the upper edge of the web (24) and bent out to the side. The side webs (7) are adapted to the profile height for guidance in the vertical axis of the hollow profile (11, 12). As shown in Fig. (6), the upper web edges (24) come to rest on the sloping roof surfaces or the shoulder (21) of the hollow profiles (11, 12).
In addition, the side webs (7) can be wedge-shaped. The height of the top edge of the web (24) increases from the front end of the angle legs (4, 5) to the corner area (17). In the corner area (17) it is preferably somewhat larger than the guide height of the hollow profile (11, 12). The side bars (7) thus cut something into the hollow profile (11, 12) to secure the bond. In Fig. 4 the leg (5) shows this web shape.
The side webs (7) have in the corner area (17) laterally outward protrusions (13), which are produced by pre-stamping the board and finish stamping on the curved corner connector. The side webs (7) thereby reach approximately the same width as the hollow profiles (11, 12) and form stop edges for the hollow profiles (11, 12) with the straight edges of the stampings (13).
The angled legs (4, 5) have bevels (25) on the central web (6) and the side webs (7) for easier insertion into the hollow profiles (11, 12).
The shapes of the retaining lugs (10) and spring tongues (8, 9) shown in the exemplary embodiments can be varied, combined and interchanged. In particular, the double-sided retaining lugs (10) of FIGS. 7 to 9 can be used for the corner connector (3) and, moreover, also for any other U-shaped connector.
In order to fill the spacer frame (18) shown in FIG. 10, the plug connectors (1, 2, 3) are first inserted into the hollow profiles (11, 12). The drying agent (15) is then introduced, the plug connectors (1, 2, 3) serving as a guide trough. Depending on the version, the hollow profiles can be filled before or after bending in a one-piece spacer frame.
