Abstract

The lens consists of sub-assemblies (5, 6) which are moulded one onto the other and have coupling elements (51,61) on adjacent edges which extend along the plane of the lens. The coupling elements comprise a male section (54) on one of the sub-assemblies and a matching female section (54) on the other one. The coupling elements are situated on straight zones of the lens sub-assembly adjacent edges, and there are no such coupling elements on the edges which are curved or have corners. The male coupling element has, in cross-section, a flat surface (540) lying parallel to the plane of the lens, and a curved surface (541) which extends from the straight edge parallel to the plane of the lens, joining the flat surface from a perpendicular direction.

Description

The present invention relates to a window for a vehicle lighting or signaling device.

Elle concerne également un dispositif ainsi équipé.It also relates to a device thus equipped.

It is common to equip the rear signaling devices of vehicles with a window having zones of different colors. Thus, the same lens can cover the brake, reversing and change of direction boxes and for this purpose includes subsets of respective red, colorless and amber colors.

One technique for making this type of ice cream is to use an injection molding machine that allows parts of different colors to be molded simultaneously.

Another technique consists in first molding a sub-assembly of the ice, then placing it in the mold of the second sub-assembly.

To do this, it is necessary to provide on the edges or edges of the different parts of the glass mutual fastening means.

These mutual attachment means generally comprise a male part on the edge of one of the sub-assemblies and a female part on the adjacent edge of the other sub-assembly.

Such known ice, however, has a number of drawbacks.

First of all, the design of the molds for making the ice, due to the presence of the male and female attachment parts in the angle regions of the sub-assemblies, is extremely long and tedious. In particular, when using digitization techniques to develop the molds, the calculation times are excessively long and the machining of the molds is complex.

In addition, it has been observed that the presence of these male and female parts in these corner regions causes defects in the appearance of the ice, in particular when the subassembly comprising the female attachment part is lighter than the sub -adjacent set, or of a different shade.

Finally, it was observed that problems of sealing the glass were encountered in these corner regions, due to defective contact planes.

The present invention aims to overcome these drawbacks of the state of the art.

To this end, it offers a window for a vehicle lighting or signaling device, which consists of at least two molded sub-assemblies, one on the other and comprising, on their adjacent edges, mutual attachment means which extend substantially along the plane of the glass, these attachment means comprising a male part on one of the subassemblies and a part complementary female on the other sub-assembly, characterized in that the attachment means are provided in generally rectilinear zones of said adjacent edges and in that zones of strong curvature of said edges are devoid of such attachment means.

  • des zones d'angles desdits bords sont dépourvus de moyens d'accrochage ;
  • la partie mâle des moyens d'accrochage présente, en coupe transversale, une face essentiellement droite et parallèle au plan de la glace et une face curviligne qui s'étend à partir dudit bord selon une direction sensiblement parallèle au plan de la glace pour rejoindre ladite face essentiellement droite selon une direction sensiblement perpendiculaire ;
Preferred, but not limiting, aspects of ice as defined above are:
  • corner zones of said edges are devoid of attachment means;
  • the male part of the hooking means has, in cross section, a face that is essentially straight and parallel to the plane of the glass and a curvilinear face which extends from said edge in a direction substantially parallel to the plane of ice to reach said essentially straight face in a substantially perpendicular direction;
  • said curvilinear face has a profile in the general shape of an arc of a circle.

The invention also provides a lighting or signaling device for a vehicle, characterized in that it comprises a window as defined above.

  • Figure 8 is a schematic front view of a glass in which the sub-assemblies which form it are devoid of attachment means in the corners.

On a représenté à la figure 1 une glace 1 qui comprend deux parties ou sous-ensembles 2 et 3 surmoulées l'une sur l'autre.FIG. 1 shows a window 1 which comprises two parts or sub-assemblies 2 and 3 molded one on top of the other.

Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view of a region where these two sub-assemblies are provided with attachment means. The references 20 and 30 respectively designate their external faces (intended to be turned towards the outside) while the references 22 and 32 designate their internal faces.

On their edges 21, respectively 31, the two parts of glass comprise, at the level of a peripheral shoulder 23, respectively 33, a tenon 24 and a complementary mortise 34, the tenon having a dovetail shape.

In FIG. 3 are shown partially in section, the two parts of molds 4 and 4 ′ necessary for the manufacture of the periphery of the subassembly 2.

The reference P designates the joint plane, that is to say the junction between the two parts 4 and 4 ′ of the mold.

Referring now to FIG. 4, the two subassemblies 5 and 6 forming the glass of the invention comprise mutual attachment means 54 and 64. The respective external faces have been designated by the references 50 and 60, c ' that is to say those intended to be turned outwards when the glass is in place on a lighting or signaling device. References 52 and 62 correspond to their internal faces.

Their peripheral part is formed by a shoulder 53, respectively 63, constituting an excess thickness of material directed on the internal side of the crystal.

The attachment means mentioned above extend over the respective edges 51 and 61 of the subassemblies, substantially in the plane of the glass.

The male part 54 comprises, seen along the section of FIG. 4, a face 540 which is substantially flat and parallel to the plane of the glass.

It also has a curved face 541 which starts from the edge 51 in a direction substantially parallel to the plane of the glass to join the face 540 substantially perpendicular thereto.

Dans le mode de réalisation présenté, la face 541 a une forme complémentaire de celle de la partie 64.In the embodiment presented, the face 541 has a shape complementary to that of the part 64.

In another embodiment, the face 540 could be arranged on the side of the external face of the ice sub-assemblies 5 and 6 so that the male part 54 would be reversed with respect to the embodiment of FIG. 4.

La figure 5 représente, partiellement et en coupe, un moule nécessaire à la réalisation du sous-ensemble 5, dont les deux parties ont été désignées 7 et 7'.FIG. 5 represents, partially and in section, a mold necessary for the production of the sub-assembly 5, the two parts of which have been designated 7 and 7 ′.

It will be noted that the junction plane P of the two parts 7 and 7 ′ coincides with that of the face 540 of the male member. Therefore, the part 7 simply rests on the part 7 'and there is no problem associated with the area P1 of docking of the joint plane, since it is not necessary to coincide so very precise both parts of the mold.

The simplification of the geometry of the attachment means in this second embodiment makes it possible to reduce the design times, in particular the time necessary for the digitization of the part and makes it possible to simplify the mold. This simplification is even more important if the glass is strongly arched and is molded in a mold which uses one or more moving parts, such as, for example, a cam.

In Figures 6 and 7 is shown a glass according to the invention, comprising three sub-assemblies 5, 6, 7. The sub-assembly 7 is for example molded first. The sub-assembly 6 constitutes the first overmolding, while the sub-assembly 5 constitutes the second.

The colors of these subsets 5, 6 and 7 are, for example, respectively crystal, amber and red, corresponding to the reversing lights, flashing and stop lights.

With reference to FIG. 8, and according to an essential aspect of the invention, whatever the shape adopted for the male and female parts of the subassemblies, the latter are devoid of attachment means in certain angles, and preferably in the region of all sharp angles.

The glass is sealed in these corner regions by the straight profile contact faces of the edges of the subassemblies, and this sealing is satisfactory.

In addition, the absence of attachment means in these corner regions makes it possible to avoid optical anomalies, in favor of the homogeneity of the general appearance of the ice.

Last but not least, the design and machining of the molds is greatly facilitated, since these corner regions have not been treated.
