An end flap (7) folds over to provide rigidity.

Description

The invention relates to a box according to the preamble of claim 1. In particular, it is a packaging that is also suitable for electric lamps.

In the trade, cuboid folding boxes are usually used for packaging the widely used general-purpose incandescent lamps. These folding boxes consist of a one-piece cardboard blank and have four side walls, a lid flap equipped with an insertion flap and a bottom flap also equipped with an insertion flap. In addition, this box has a lid-side and a bottom-side dust flap pair. The flaps of each pair of dust flaps are formed on opposite side walls and overlap in the closed state. However, such a box is not suitable packaging for a lamp equipped with contact pins, since the contact pins would pierce the lid or bottom of this box and this box does not adequately protect the contact pins from damage in transit.

Another box corresponding to the preamble of claim 1 is disclosed, for example, in DE 28 19 699. The packaging described in this document is a cuboid, one-piece folding box for packaging an electric lamp. It has four side walls that form a sleeve with open end faces. The end closures of the folding box are completely identical and are formed by four lid flaps or four bottom flaps. Each of the four lid and bottom flaps is molded onto a side wall by means of an end folding edge. Each two opposing lid and bottom flaps have the same shape and form a pair. Both flaps of one of the cover or one of the bottom flap pairs have two additional folding edges which run obliquely to the common folding edge between the flap in question and the corresponding side wall. As a result, this pair of lids and bottom flaps has flap parts which are directed into the interior of the folding box and fix the lamp to be packaged in the box. The other pair of lids or bottom flaps closes the lid or bottom opening of the folding box. This folding box has the disadvantage that it is comparatively complex to manufacture.

It is the object of the invention to provide a box according to the preamble of protection claim 1, which protects the electric lamp packed therein sufficiently against transport damage with minimal expenditure on packaging material, and which also requires only a small production outlay.

This object is achieved by the characterizing features of claim 1. Particularly advantageous embodiments of the invention are described in the subclaims.

The box according to the invention has four side walls, a bottom and an opening which is closed by means of a lid, and two opposing dust flaps folded back into the inside of the box, the free ends of which have a cupboard lock. When folded, these dust flaps enclose an angle of less than 90 degrees with the side walls to which they are formed, thereby forming a web bridging the box opening, which allows the electrical lamp packed in the box to be fixed in position. The box according to the invention is particularly suitable as packaging for a reflector lamp equipped with contact pins. The lamp is arranged obliquely, approximately diagonally, with the box bottom facing reflector opening in the box, so that the two contact pins of the lamp are arranged in a corner which is formed by one of the dust flaps, the side wall formed on it and an adjacent side wall. In the entangled state, the dust flaps form a web that reaches into the inside of the box, which supports the lamp base and in this way fixes the lamp in its diagonal position within the box. In addition, the interlocking dust flaps ensure that the sensitive contact pins are protected against transport damage, and it is also avoided that the contact pins of the lamp penetrate the lid of the box. The box according to the invention advantageously consists of recyclable material, such as cardboard or corrugated cardboard. In the particularly preferred embodiments, it is designed as a cuboid folding box consisting of a one-piece cardboard or corrugated cardboard blank. In the case of the box according to the invention, the grain of the carton advantageously runs parallel to the box height, that is to say from the bottom to the lid, as a result of which the lid-side dust flaps are given particular stability. In a preferred exemplary embodiment, the cover consists of a lid flap, to which an insertion flap is formed via a folded edge. The insertion flap has an incision at an angle to the folding edge on both sides, at the level of the folding edge. This allows the insert flap to snap behind the dust flaps on the lid when the lid flap is closed.

The invention is explained below with reference to a preferred embodiment. Show it:
  • Figure 1 shows the cardboard blank of the box according to a preferred embodiment
  • 2 shows a cross section through the box according to FIG. 1 with the reflector lamp packed therein

The box according to the invention according to a particularly preferred embodiment consists of cardboard and is designed as a one-piece folding box. Figure 1 shows the cardboard blank of this folding box. It has four interrelated side walls 1, 2, 3, 4 with folded edges 12, 23, 34. An adhesive flap 5 is formed on the longitudinal edge of the fourth side wall 4 and is used to glue the fourth 4 to the first side wall 1. After gluing by means of the adhesive tab 5, the four side walls form a tubular sleeve with a rectangular cross section. The open end faces of this sleeve are closed by a bottom flap 6 and a lid flap 7. The lid flap 7 is formed on the upper front edge of the second side wall 2 via a folded edge 27 and the bottom flap 6 is formed on the lower front edge of the fourth side wall 4 via a folded edge 46. Both the bottom flap 6 and the lid flap 7 are each equipped with an insertion flap 6a or 7a. The cover-side insertion flap 7a has on both sides, at the level of the folding edge separating it from the cover flap 7, an incision 40 which runs obliquely to this folding edge.

The box bottom also has two dust flaps 8, 9 lying opposite one another and overlapping in the closed state. These dust flaps 8, 9 are each formed via a folded edge 18 or 39 on the edge of the side wall 1 or 3 facing the floor and are covered by the bottom flap 6 in the closed state (FIG. 2). The lid side of the folding box also has two mutually opposite, essentially trapezoidal dust flaps 10, 11, which are each formed via a folding edge 110 or 311 on the edge of the opposing side walls 1 and 3 facing the lid. The free ends of these dust flaps 10, 11 are provided with teeth 10a, 11 which are matched to one another and by means of which these dust flaps 10, 11 are interlocked when the box is closed. The length of both dust flaps 10, 11 is slightly greater than half the distance between the side walls 1, 3. After closing, they 10, 11 form a web bridging the box opening, which supports the lamp 20 packed in the box. The total length of this web is greater than the distance between the side walls 1, 3. When the lid flap 7 is closed, the insertion tab 7a engages behind the lid-side dust flaps 10, 11, that is to say the dust flaps 10, 11 engage in the incisions 40.

Die Deckelklappe 7 deckt die Staubklappen 10, 11 nach dem Verschließen der Schachtel ab.FIG. 2 shows the closed box according to the invention with a reflector lamp 20 packed therein. The lamp or the lamp axis is oriented obliquely, approximately diagonally in the folding box. The lamp base or the reflector neck 20a faces the lid of the box. The lid-side dust flaps 10, 11 form an angle of less than 90 degrees with the side walls 1, 3 in the entangled state and form a web that reaches into the box and bridges the box opening and supports the lamp base or the reflector neck 20a. The lamp 20 is thus stabilized in its inclined position. The contact pins 21 are arranged in a corner, which is formed by the dust flap 11 and the side walls 3, 4. The lid flap 7 covers the dust flaps 10, 11 after closing the box.

The invention is not limited to the exemplary embodiment explained in more detail above. For example, the lid and / or the bottom flap can also have an adhesive closure instead of an insertion flap. Furthermore, the box does not necessarily have to consist of a one-piece cardboard blank. It can be made in several parts and, for example, also be made from corrugated cardboard. The box shape can also be varied. For example, the box can have a cylindrical shape with six or even eight side walls, the end faces of which are closed by a lid and a bottom flap. The cover side can also be equipped with interlocking dust flaps formed on two opposite side walls.
