Abstract

In a plug (1) with a two-part plug housing (4), the cable connecting arrangement (6) has a supporting sleeve (15) slidable over the connection cable (7) and provided with a contact part (19) for the cable shield (20) which is reversed on the contact part and clamped thereon by means of a ring-shaped crimping element (14). The supporting sleeve (15) is further designed with a flange (22) and is screwed with a coupling ring (16) in such a way that the front walls (8, 9) of the plug housing (4) are clamped between the flange and the coupling ring. A shielded cable connection with a reliable strain relief is thus obtained for a reopenable plug housing.

Description

The invention relates to a shielded plug with a connector housing, on the cable entry side of which a shielded connecting cable is connected by means of a cable connection device which comprises a crimping element, a metal supporting sleeve which can be pushed over the connecting cable and a union nut, the supporting sleeve at one end having a threaded part having an external thread is designed for screwing with the union nut and at the other end with a contact part for the cable shield and between the threaded part and the contact part with a radially projecting flange, the cable shield is turned over the contact part and is pressed firmly against the contact part by means of the crimping element and for the mechanical connection between the connector housing and the cable connection device and for contacting the cable shield with the connector housing, the end wall of the connector housing between the flange of the support sleeve and the on the threaded part of the Support sleeve screwed on union nut is firmly clamped. Such a plug is known from EP-A-455 139.

From DE-U-87 13 046 a shielded connector with a two-part housing and a cable connection device is known which, in addition to a spout serving in particular as an anti-kink protection for the cable, comprises a double clamp, one part of the double clamp relieving the strain on the cable jacket and the other part contacting the cable shield takes over. The double clamp is aligned with the cable sheath and the cable shield, lies on one side of the cable and is mechanically connected to the lower housing part by screwing, the cable shield being electrically contacted with the shield plate of the lower housing part. With such a cable connection there is no closed peripheral contacting of the cable shield. There is also the possibility that the cable is squeezed too much to achieve reliable strain relief.

Furthermore, a connector for a shielded transfer system is on the market, which has two U-shaped metal housing half-shells, each of which has a semicircular entry socket half at the cable entry. By means of a crimp sleeve pushed over the insertion socket and the cable shield, which is deformed with pliers, shield contacting and at the same time a mechanical connection of the housing half-shells in the region of the insertion socket is achieved in such a plug. In the assembled state with the crimp sleeve deformed, the plug housing can then no longer be opened. In addition, a relatively expensive special pliers with inserts for different diameters is required for the deformation.

The invention has for its object to achieve good shielding of the cable connection in a plug of the type mentioned in a simple manner, with reliable strain relief but the least possible deformation of the cable cross section.

This object is achieved in a shielded connector of the type mentioned according to the invention in that the connector housing is composed of two conductive parts and the parts of the connector housing on the cable entry side each with an end wall and one provided in this, to the other part open recess for the introduction of the cable connection device are formed and that the contact part of the support sleeve is slit like a collet. With such a plug, the cable connection can be carried out with the simplest tools in a separate assembly step and is ergonomically convenient to use, with a safe shield contacting with reliable mechanical strain relief being achieved with the least possible deformation of the cable cross section (circular shape). There the contact part of the support sleeve has slots and how a collet can be compressed until the slots are closed, there is a closed diameter, so that the contact part can be pressed as a closed ring in the cable jacket and a good all-round shielding is achieved. In addition, despite the use of a crimping element, the cable connection can easily be removed from the connector housing or its parts and the connector housing opened. Finally, the disadvantageous influence of cold influence properties and signs of aging in plastics is also excluded with such a cable connection.

Advantageously, in a connector according to the invention, the contact part of the support sleeve is provided with at least some internal threads. This allows the support sleeve to be screwed onto the cable sheath with a slight pre-tension in order to ensure a defined fit of the support sleeve.

With regard to the screw connection between the union nut and the support sleeve and the mechanical connection of the two parts of the connector housing, it is advantageous if a vertically protruding collar, which at least partially surrounds the recess, is provided on the end wall of the parts of the connector housing and if the distance two diametrically opposite collars in the assembled state of the parts of the connector housing is smaller than the inside diameter of the union nut. In this case, the screwed-on union nut overlaps the end wall collar and reliably secures the cohesion of the two parts of the connector housing.

The connector 1 is - as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 - from one of two conductive parts, for. B. from two metal half-shells 2 and 3 assembled connector housing 4 with a plug insert 5 and a cable connection device 6 for the connecting cable 7. The half-shells 2 and 3 of the connector housing 4 are expediently formed by sheet metal stamping parts, which each have an end wall 8 or 9 and a recess 10 or 11 provided in this and open to the other half-shell for the introduction of the cable connection device 6 are formed. The recesses 10, 11 are provided in the manner of an elongated hole in the end walls 8 and 9, which are perpendicular to the direction of insertion, and are each surrounded at their arcuate end by a collar 12 and 13 projecting perpendicularly to the respective end wall. As FIG. 1 shows, in one half-shell 3 the plug insert 5 with the connecting cable 7 connected via the cable connection device 6 is inserted, while the other half-shell 2 - as shown in FIG. 2 - closes the connector as a cover with a shield.

The cable connection device comprises - as shown in FIG. 3 - an annular crimp element 14, a metal support sleeve 15 which can be pushed over the connection cable 7 and a relatively flat, also metal union nut 16.

11.The support sleeve 15 is formed at one end with an external thread 17 having a threaded part 18 for screwing with the union nut 16 and at the other end with a collet-like slotted contact part 19 for the cable shield 20, which here is provided with at least some internal threads 21. Between the threaded part 18 and the contact part 19, the support sleeve 15 has a radially projecting flange 22, which - especially if the support sleeve is made of a hexagonal material - has a hexagonal circumferential shape, the key width of the flange 22 being larger than the clear internal width - Here the width - of the recesses 10 and 11 provided in the end walls 8, 9.

The cable connection device 6 is preassembled on the connection cable 7 in a separate assembly step. For this purpose, the support sleeve 15 together with the union nut 16 is pushed over the stripped connecting cable 7 and screwed with its internal threads 21 onto the cable sheath. Now the cable shield 20 is turned over the contact part 19, the ring-shaped crimp element 14 is pushed over it and further compressed and tensioned by means of simple pliers at two diametrically opposed deformed points 23, 24. As a result, the crimping element 14 presses the cable shield 20 firmly onto the contact part 19, which further penetrates into the cable sheath with its internal threads 21 until the slots are closed and a closed diameter is created. The connection cable is thus prepared for installation in the connector housing 4. The connection cable 7 pre-assembled with the cable connection device 6, shown in FIG. 4, is now - as shown in FIG. 1 - inserted into the half-shell 3 of the plug housing 4 in such a way that the flange 22 of the support sleeve 15 is inside this half-shell, that is located under the end wall 9 thereof. After the half-shells 2 and 3 have been put together, the union nut 16 is then screwed tight, so that the end walls 8, 9 of the assembled parts of the connector housing are firmly clamped between the flange 22 of the support sleeve 15 and the union nut 16 screwed onto the threaded part 18 of the support sleeve. The mechanical connection between the connector housing 4 and the cable connection device 6 is thus established, the union nut 16 engaging over these collars due to a corresponding clear outside width of the two diametrically opposite collars 12, 13. In addition, the contact of the cable shield on the connector housing 4 is made in the screwed state of the union nut 16.

B. in einem Winkel von 30°, zur Steckrichtung geneigt sind.5 shows two plugs for a shielded transfer system with a straight cable outlet, which results when the end walls 8, 9 of the half-shells 2, 3 of the plug housing 4 run perpendicular to the plugging direction. However, it is also possible - in particular in the case of cramped installation conditions - as in FIG. 6, if the end walls are at least partially inclined, for. B. are inclined at an angle of 30 ° to the direction of insertion.
