Abstract

Method for dispensing self-adhesive flat objects (6) such as labels, extruded mouldings or the like adhering to a substrate, in which the flat object (6) is released individually from the substrate (1) by deflection of the substrate and is transferred to a plunger (7) which deposits the flat object on an article (14), characterised in that each flat object (6) is separated from a continuous strip of material (2) adhering to the substrate (1), directly prior to release from the substrate (1).
  2. Method according to claim 1, characterised in that the substrate (1) is deflected stepwise.
  3. Method according to claim 2, characterised in that the step length can be varied during deflection of the substrate (1).
  4. Device for carrying out the method according to one of claims 1 to 3, in which the substrate (1) is guided round a dispensing edge (4) for releasing and transferring the flat object (6) on a plunger (7) which deposits the flat object (6) on an article (14), characterised by a cutting tool which separates a flat object (6) from a continuous strip of material (2) adhering to the substrate (1) directly prior to its transfer to the plunger (7).
  5. Device according to claim 4, characterised in that, for separating a flat object (6) from the strip of material (2), the cutting tool has a fly cutter or chopping knife of which the anvil (15) is provided with the dispensing edge (4).
  6. Device according to claim 5, characterised in that the blade (5) of the fly cutter or chopping knife is driven by an articulated lever (18).
  7. Device according to one of the preceding claims 4 to 6, characterised in that the plunger (7) holding the flat object (6) and placing it on the article (14) performs a movement synchronous with the substrate (1) during transfer of the flat object (6) from the substrate (1).
  8. Device according to claim 7, characterised in that a rack (13) acts on the plunger (7) for synchronous movement of plunger (7) and substrate (1), the rack (13) meshing with a gear-wheel (12) driven by the step-by-step motor (9) pulling the substrate (1) round the dispensing edge (4).
  9. Device according to claim 8, characterised in that the gear-wheel (12) is mounted on its driving shaft (11) by a clamp or overrunning clutch.
