- the titanium alloy part obtained according to the invention thus comprises 40 to 60% of beta alloy and the complement of alpha prime alloy.
- the Beta part is very hard and the Alpha-Prime part has excellent ductility.
- a semi-fine product of metastable beta titanium alloy is manufactured in the following manner.
- a metastable beta titanium alloy casting is produced by adding 0.4 to 0.7% of oxygen and 0.1 to 0.2% of nitrogen by weight, the sum of oxygen and nitrogen not exceeding 0.8%.
- an ingot is produced and then the product is produced by forging rolling and then reduced in the form of a bar or round, flat or sheet metal.
- a solution treatment heat treatment is carried out at a temperature of 800 ° C to 900 ° C.
- a very rapid cooling of the solution temperature to 500 ° C. is carried out with a speed of at least 200 ° C./h and preferably of at least 400 ° C./h.
- the semi-finished product always has a metastable Beta structure.
- the semi-finished product is then forged, stamped or machined to its final geometry.
- an aging treatment is carried out from 550 ° C to 650 ° C for a period of between 10 minutes and 2 hours.
- the duration being chosen so that 40 to 60% of the metastable Beta structure transforms into Alpha prime, the rest of the structure becoming Beta stable.
- the final titanium alloy part has a mixed structure, the Beta part being very hard and the Alpha-prime part having excellent ductibility.
- the very ductile matrix is thus reinforced by hard slats typical of beta structures.
- the semi-finished product is manufactured by the founder or blacksmith, then it is transported to the user who manufactures it to give it its final shape.
- the solution treatment can be done on the semi-finished product or it can be done on the workpiece.
- the aging treatment could be done on the semi-finished product but in this case the machining is more difficult.
- the aging treatment will be done on the workpiece.

Abstract
