Description

The invention relates to a method for plug-in loading of rotating collection carriers of a collection device multi-sheet printed sheets collected for printed products with at least one supplement according to the preamble of Claim 1 and a device for its implementation.

For saddle stitchers from the Muller Martini company with a collection section as a collective carrier for printed sheets it is known during the collecting process with an insert feeder or so-called. Card feeders from the simproducts brand insert between two Introduce printed sheets. This happens because the next following printed sheet first over that of the collecting line previously printed sheets are placed on an auxiliary support and then conveyed further with the printed sheet (s) below is, with the one part of the printed sheet hanging down on the side is lifted by a guide device to with the underneath   lying sheet a narrowing towards the fold To be able to form the opening perpendicular to the recording Supplement fed to the conveying direction, such as a card, printed matter or the like.

Such a construction is in the various saddle stitchers can only be used to a limited extent, especially if high demands are made are placed on the production output and different formatted supplements are fed.

A saddle stitcher is known from US - A - 4,200,275 which the printed sheets from a stack on a circumferential gripper having, rotating drum a collecting conveyor be fed. On their way to the crossbar on the collecting conveyor the printed sheets open by releasing one leg from the drum by gravity, so that a Feed a supplement in the direction of movement of the collecting conveyor feed and the crossbar at a higher speed can move up the inner fold edge of the sheet.

The object of the present invention is therefore a method and to develop a facility that meets higher demands have grown than before without undermining the quality of the Print products suffer.

According to the invention, this task according to the in the mark of claims 1 and 3 contained features solved. In this way, changes of direction at the time of Loading the printed products with supplements on the processing route avoid.

Überdies wird damit ein schonenderes Verarbeitungsverfahren gewählt. In addition, it becomes a gentler processing method chosen.

The processing principle according to the invention can also be used also as a classic inserting machine for unstitched printed products use.

The method according to the invention and a device are explained in more detail below on the basis of an exemplary embodiment shown in the drawing. Show it:
Fig. 1

Fig. 2
a section through the device of FIG. 1 along the line II - II.

Fig. 1 illustrates a device 1 mounted in a frame for processing printed sheets, in particular for loading multi-sheet printed sheets collected for printed products 2 with at least one insert 3, which is fed to the edge of the printed product 2 opposite the last or last folded edge will.
The printed products 2 are collected astride one another by a plurality of collecting supports 5 of a rotating conveying member 6, which are spaced on a traction means 4 and extend transversely to the conveying direction, for which purpose not shown, series-connected feeders are provided for the differently printed printed sheets, which run along the upper one Runs or in the loading area of the conveyor member 6 are arranged.
In the exemplary embodiment discussed, a binding device 7 adjoins the printed sheet feeder, which is passed by the traction means 4 provided with collecting supports 5 or the conveying element 6. The endless traction device 4 runs around at least two parallel axes, one of which is designed 8 for mounting a stitching wheel 9 of the stitching device 7, which has spaced, drivable or actuable benders 10 distributed around the periphery of the collecting carriers 5 of the conveying device 6. This bending device 10 or the bending device as a whole on the stapling wheel 9 is provided in accordance with the number of staples to be placed in the fold of a printed product 2, at least in duplicate over the support length of a collecting support 5. For a better understanding, the last three collection carriers are shown without printed sheets.
Adapted to the situation shown, the stapling apparatus 7 has pairs of stapling heads 11, which rotate about a parallel axis 12 and which form a short common stapling path with the latter in the vicinity of the orbit of the collecting carriers 5.
However, the stitching section is not an important component of the device 1 according to the invention and is explained in more detail in DE-A-36 16 566 or EP-A-0 546 326, among others. Instead of the carrier 5 rotating around a traction device 4 about two axes, the conveying device 6 could also be drum-shaped - as described in DE-A-36 16 566 or EP-A-0 399 317 - the carrier 5 being so-called Symmetrically extend the collecting sections along an axis of rotation and their delivery ends open into a stapler which surrounds the collecting sections arranged in the form of a drum in the length region of the stapling or as a rotary stapling device, "intermeshing" with the collecting drum.
It must be made up for in the present embodiment that there is an inlet section 13 in front of the stitching section, on which the benders 10 on the stitching wheel 9 and the collecting carriers 5 assigned to them fit into one another to form a stable unit, that is to say that the benders 10 enter the collecting carriers 5 from below break in.
The stapler 7 has a plurality of star-shaped stapling heads 11, indicated by radial lines, which are driven to rotate about the axis 12. The axis 12 runs approximately parallel to the axis 8 of the stitching wheel 9.
On the further course of the collecting carriers 5, after the printed sheets have been stapled into a printed product 2, the latter, guided by the stitching wheel 9, are placed on a conveyor device 14 consisting of gripping tongs 15, in the vicinity of which a transfer point 16 is formed.
At this point, the gripping tongs 15 of the conveying device 14 grasp the printed products 2 approximately at the fold and lift them off the collecting carrier 5, because the direction of travel of the gripping tongs 15 does not only change due to the change in direction of the stitching wheel 9, but also due to a slight kink removed from stitching bike 9.

During the removal of the printed products 2 from the collection carriers 5, the action of a separating device 17 takes effect the spread state of the printed products 2 from the collection carriers 5 is maintained or with which the printed products 2 after leaving the collecting carrier 5 again in an open Feed form can be moved.

A possible embodiment of a separating device 17 is shown in FIG 2 a little closer. Two through an axis of rotation 18 connected discs 19 each distributed around their circumference a separating device assigned to a collecting carrier 5 15, which are provided with respect to their perpendicular to the conveying direction Mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic or is electrically driven. In the present, below the Fold the printed products 2 effectively penetrating them Separating device 17 is a roof-shaped construction 20, which is wedge-shaped with respect to the feed direction is tapered. The actuation of the roof-shaped Construction is carried out as shown by one of one Control cam 21 driven rod 22, the return stroke for example   is achieved by a spring (not shown).

A deflection wheel 23 of the conveying device 14, of which a gripping pliers 15 can be seen, is located within the disks 19, but firmly connected to them by the axis of rotation 18. The gripping pliers 15 consist of a rigid 24 and an actuatable clamping jaw 25, for which purpose a lever 26 is provided, the actuation of which, inter alia, for opening the gripping pliers 15 with a control device (not shown) - for example a stationary control curve - before the printed products 2 are grasped and for closing the gripper 15 is triggered after the transfer of the printed products 2 (see Fig. 1).
1 also shows that the printed products 2 lifted off the collecting carriers 5 are conveyed further in an open form, the printed product part in the conveying direction being supported by the immersed construction 20 of the separating device 17 and the trailing printed product part being able to hang down due to gravity, in such a way that a loading opening is created between the two parts.
The separating device 17 can be designed in such a way that the separating device 17, which is immersed between the side parts of a lifted printed product 2, deflects the corresponding printed product part upwards by a specially assigned drive device (not shown).
In order to be able to transversely pass through the movement path 27 of an insert 3 driven by a feeder 29 on the further conveying path, the further conveying path after the removal of the printed products 2 from the stapling wheel 9 is undershot by the deflecting wheel 23. On this undershot conveying section, the printed products 2 are open and, at least when passing the movement path 27 of the supplements 3, the latter opens into the opening formed by the spread printed product parts, into which the supplement 3 is displaced like a litter, so that it is in the gap end formed by the fold inserted stuck.

In order to favor the subsequent clamping effect within the fold of a printed product 2 provided for the insert 3, the clamping force of the gripping tongs 15 is at least partially controlled at least during the time of loading by an auxiliary clamping device (indicated at 28) holding the printed products 2 approximately in the end regions of the fold to replace. This will make it possible to reduce the closing force of the gripper 15 immediately before loading with an insert 3, so that the narrower insert 3 or inserts can penetrate deeper into the fold, which can result in better adhesion after loading by the fold . This additional measure proves to be particularly advantageous if a plurality of inserts 3 are to be fed to the printed product 2.
For loading the inserts 3, a feeder 29 known per se is provided, which feeds the cards, bags, samples or the like occurring in a stack magazine occasionally to the movement path 27, where they are fed by a conveyor 30, for example at the end of the conveyor with an acceleration device 31 is equipped to be transferred to the printed products 2 in a cube-like manner.

Several feeders can be used for loading several inserts 3 29 in series or parallel, along an extended one Feeding area having conveyor device 14 switched be, i.e. in the former case, several supplements 3 am End of the conveyor 30 fed to the printed products 2 bundled or if the feeder 29 is connected in parallel, the Supplements 3 are fed to the opened printed products 2 one after the other.
