Abstract

The invention relates to the separation of tobacco fibres within the distributor of a cigarette-strand machine. The object is to carry out the separation effectively and in a way which treats the tobacco carefully. This is achieved within a falling shaft (8) of the distributor, into which the tobacco (7) is transferred in a manner accelerated downwards in a main flightpath (41). Provided in the falling shaft (8) limited by mutually opposite channel walls (42, 43) are alternately offset air slits (44, 46), through which blowing air is directed essentially transversely to the flightpath (41) towards the tobacco flying downwards, with the result that the latter is alternately deflected laterally out of its flightpath. The lateral deflection is advantageously associated with a loosening and separation of the tobacco fibres which have an advantageous effect on the quality of the finished cigarettes. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a method for separating on channeled trajectories moving tobacco or the like Fibers according to the preamble of claim 1. Such The method is already known from DE-C-954137.

The invention also relates to a device for separating from through an accelerator into through channel walls limited trajectories to carry tobacco fibers the procedure according to claims 1-3.

The term “similar fibers” generally means fibers made of smokable material, for example also made of tobacco substitutes.
In the production of cigarettes, compliance with certain quality characteristics of the end products, ie the finished cigarettes or filter cigarettes, is of particular importance. These quality features relate to various product properties in a defined range of variation, such as the uniformity of the tobacco distribution in the cigarettes, weight fluctuations, filling power, hardness, fiber length and head quality of the cigarettes.
The quality features mentioned depend crucially, among other things, on the most complete separation possible, even distribution and filling of the tobacco fibers in the so-called distributor of the cigarette machine.
Various attempts have already been made to achieve as complete a separation of the fibers as possible, in that tobacco in the distributor of the cigarette machine is transferred several times from a conveyor to a downstream conveyor with resolution of clumps and is thereby increasingly separated (US Patents 3,757,800, 3,825,152) or with the aid of rollers rotating at different speeds, meshing with one another and equipped with carriers, with the tearing apart of clumps (US Pat. No. 4,036,239).

Due to the sometimes very rough mechanical effects on the tobacco the tobacco fibers become undesirable Way shortened.

The invention has for its object measures for to separate the tobacco fibers carefully.

This object is achieved in that the tobacco fibers along their trajectory are acted upon alternately from opposite sides by blowing air guided essentially transversely to the direction of movement or with a component in the direction of movement of the tobacco fibers. By alternately blowing such a tobacco shower, the tobacco fibers are deflected several times from their main direction of movement, the faster lateral air flow loosening clumps and separating the tobacco fibers.
According to a further development, an optimal release and separation effect is achieved in that the tobacco fibers are acted upon by the blown air at alternately offset locations on the sides delimiting the trajectories.

The trajectories expediently extend in substantially vertical fall direction of the tobacco fibers.

The device for carrying out the input Process is formed by following the trajectory of the tobacco fibers alternately emerging on opposite channel walls essentially across the trajectory or with a Blown air openings component oriented in the direction of flight of the tobacco fibers. In this way, a targeted, concentrated, fast blown air flow on the flying past A tobacco shower aimed alternately against each other opposite channel walls redirected and fanned out or dissolved in itself and separated with respect to its fibers.

To reinforce and optimize the effect are after a Another suggestion to alternately offset the blown air openings opposite parts of the channel walls.

The blown air openings can be designed in different ways within the meaning of the invention, for example they can be designed as rows of holes. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the blown air openings are designed as slots which extend over the width of the channel walls.
The blown air deflection according to the invention can advantageously be integrated into a conventional distributor of a cigarette machine, in which the channel walls delimit a substantially vertical chute for the tobacco fibers.

With such an arrangement, the blown air openings can best be realized according to one embodiment in that the blown air openings are assigned to nozzle boxes integrated in the channel walls.
The trajectories of the tobacco fibers required as a prerequisite for the lateral blowing air can best be achieved, according to an additional proposal, in that the accelerating means is a rotating beater roller which interacts with a tobacco discharging roller from a storage chute.
In order to maintain and utilize the complete separation of the tobacco fibers achieved in this way for the further strand building process, it is also provided that the chute opens on the underside of a tobacco fibers through a cross-air flow into a sighting device that transports a strand building zone.

The advantage achieved by the invention is that Tobacco through the offset side blowing from its predetermined The trajectory is deflected several times and thereby on gentle, Tobacco sparing way is isolated. This more isolated and tobacco preserved in its fiber length ultimately results in a more even tobacco distribution, less weight fluctuations, greater hardness and a smoother, better head quality of the cigarettes.

The invention is described below with reference to the drawing illustrated embodiment explained in more detail.

The figure shows schematically the distributor of a cigarette rod machine in longitudinal section.

Only partially shown for understanding the invention Distributor has a storage shaft 1 with a tobacco supply 2 and a removal device 3, which from a removal roller 4 and a beater roller 6. The one from the removal device 3 showers 7 removed from the storage shaft 1 Tobacco fibers get into a narrowing funnel shape Fall chute 8, on the underside of which a prescreen forming viewing device 9 by a cross air flow a pressure chamber 11 associated blow nozzles 12 from the Chute 8 emerging tobacco fibers in a subsequent transferred strand construction zone described. The cross-directional Visual air flow separates lighter tobacco fibers 13 from heavier ones Tobacco fibers 14 (tobacco ribs) and promotes them in the direction of Arrow 16 to the strand building zone. Some lighter tobacco fibers 13 sink down with the heavier tobacco ribs 14. she pass through a rotary valve 17 into a viewing shaft 18, in which the heavier tobacco ribs 14 further down sink and be carried away while the lighter tobacco fibers 13 due to the injector effect of a blown air jet a nozzle 19 forming a rear sight rise and be fed back into the stream of lighter fibers 13. With Support for further blowing air nozzles 21 of a pressure chamber 22 the tobacco fibers on a guideway in the form of a Conveyed guide surface 23 on which it leads to a tobacco stream 24 loosened and spread tobacco fibers are built up, where blown air and tobacco particles become close to each other Form the guide surface 23 along the wall flow. For Supporting the further promotion of the spread and loosened tobacco flow 24 along the guide surface 23 are blown air nozzles 26 of a pressure chamber 27 and optionally further arranged in the course of the guide surface 23, in the Drawing but not shown blowing air nozzles provided.

The loosened and spread tobacco stream 24 arrives in a strand build-up zone 28 to a suction strand conveyor 29, to which a suction draft for forming and holding a tobacco strand is applied from the rear by the suction effect of a vacuum chamber 31. Excess blown air escapes through a sieve 32 into a relaxation space 33.
The suction line conveyor 29 rotates in a tobacco channel 34 which is laterally delimited by two channel cheeks 36 and 37. The end section 23a of the guide surface 23 is aligned with one of the channel cheeks 36, so that a seamless, smooth transition of the guide surface to the tobacco channel 34 is ensured. The end section 23a of the guide surface 23 is designed as a guide body 39 which can be swiveled about a pivot axis 38, in order to ensure better accessibility of the device in the event of faults.
According to the invention, the beater roller 6 knocking the tobacco out of the removal roller 4 serves as an accelerating means for the tobacco shower 7, which in this way is converted into a downward main trajectory (arrow 41). The chute 8 is delimited by opposite, downwardly converging duct walls 42 and 43, into which alternately offset blown air openings in the form of slots 44 and 46 extending over the width of the duct walls (perpendicular to the plane of the drawing) are let. The slots 44 and 46 are oriented essentially transversely or with a slight component in the direction of the flight path 41 of the tobacco shower 7. The slots 44 and 46 are fed with blown air from nozzle boxes 47 and 48 arranged on the rear of the channel walls 42 and 43.
Due to the alternately against the downwardly thrown tobacco shower 7 essentially transverse air flow from the slots 44 and 46, the tobacco shower 7 is alternately deflected from its main trajectory 41 and the tobacco fibers contained therein detached from one another, so that at the exit of the chute 8 a largely loosened tobacco shower 7 is transferred to the viewing device 9.
