Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a helmet, in particular for motorcyclist, including a cap of protection of the cranial box consisting of a shell outer and an inner shell having a thickness determined and extending along said outer shell as well as a chin strap.
  • Document DE-A-3017099 discloses, for its part, also a helmet of the full type as indicated above aimed at improving the attachment of the padding to the helmet cap based on a specific mode of fixation. This is mainly based on the arrangement of a groove open towards the inside of the opening for inserting the head into the helmet, the groove being closed at its ends by walls end or end.
  • Figure 4 in particular illustrates the padding elements, namely the mint 10 introduced into a first groove 3 before and the neck padding 11 introduced in a second rear groove 4.
  • the arrangement of the end walls prevents movement of the elements of padding, while also preventing said padding elements do not come out so untimely corresponding grooves.
  • this document offers no improvement in terms of especially lateral stiffness of the helmet and more particularly at the lower level of the cap as well only the chin rest, said document contributing that to improve the fixing of the constituent elements between them.
  • the invention aims to solve this problem.
  • the helmet according to this invention aims to reinforce protection in particular to height of the lower face.
  • the main purpose of the helmet is to ensure the head protection when accidents occur, whether for motorcyclists, pilots of car or formula 1 rallies or, where applicable, for certain types of work while performing of missions presenting a certain risk of accident involving a shock to the head.
  • the example described below relates primarily to helmets for motorcyclists.
  • a helmet 1 comprises generally a cap 2 provided to ensure the protection of the skull.
  • the cap 2 has itself an outer shell 3 made of a material hard and an inner shell 4 and spanning practically the entire interior surface of said hull outside.
  • the inner shell 4 is produced in the form a stuffing envelope of a material shock absorber, preferably covered with a fabric.
  • the material of this envelope is further provided for ensure perfect adaptation to the wearer's head helmet.
  • the envelope has a thickness determined, which, as illustrated, is substantially greater than that of the outer shell 3, so to provide effective shock absorption in the event of accident or fall.
  • the helmet 1 also includes a retaining device 26 allowing the maintenance and the appropriate positioning helmet on your head.
  • a visor 12 or a screen is also provided. Protection of the lower face is advantageously ensured by a chin strap 5 as provided in the so-called helmets integral.
  • This type of helmet has a chin strap 5 intended to be placed opposite the jaws of to protect them.
  • the chin rest includes, just like the cap 2 described above, a shell outer 6 of hard material and padding interior 7 connected to the outer shell 6 of the chin rests 5. So chin rests are generally provided with an interior covering can cushion the frontal impacts with some effectiveness. However, the thickness of the padding layer of the chin rest cannot from a practical point of view and for reasons of space, reach that of the covering shell of the covering cap of the skull, which poses the limit of protection provided by the classic chin strap.
  • an arch reinforcement is provided in the chin rest, which extends along its entire width, by example by crossing it right through. As illustrated in Figure 2 the arch extends for example following a substantially ovoid contour adapted to the contour lower helmet at chin height. By example, the arch goes along the base periphery of the helmet down to the back of it crossing the cap, at the base of it.
  • the hoop according to the invention has a profile slightly bent at an angle ⁇ .
  • the angle ⁇ which is for example between 5 and 20 °, preferably approximately 10 °, is intended to follow the inclined shape of the base helmet.
  • the arch is made so as to take up the efforts compression by a vault effect, the arch having an appropriate form.
  • the arch is for example made up a metallic material, such as a light alloy aluminum such as duralumin®, but others materials such as fiberglass, carbon or others can also be used.
  • the bow presents advantageously a practically tubular section circular, so as to occupy only one space reduced while maintaining excellent rigidity.
  • the arch is open for example at the rear 23 as illustrated in FIG. 4, the closure of it being ensured by fitting 25 on a sleeve 24 as shown in Figure 5.
  • one of the ends 23 of the arch 10 is crimped on the sleeve 24.
  • the arch effect of the arch during compression efforts in the event of stress external due to a shock for example is perfectly assured and it also allows a very lateral extension hoop dresser. This ensures very easy threading and fast helmet.
  • the speed of donning the helmet can be an important factor in competition by example, where every second is precious.
  • the arch is arranged as low as possible relative to the helmet, at the place of minimum rigidity outer hulls, that is to say at their base.
  • a trim of chin guard 18,19 which completes the dressing of the helmet.
  • Said chin strap trim 18.19 while allowing to hide any imperfections on the surface of base of cap 2 and chin strap respectively and giving the helmet a better coefficient cx, ensures the installation of the arch, forming a support both in the chin rest 5 and in the cap 2.
  • a space 28.29 is provided between the padding 7 and respective pads 18.19.
  • the chin padding 7 and the padding envelope 4 of the cap are made each with a profiled base so that the hoop is perfectly integrated between the linings and the respective padding.
  • excellent stability of the headband 10 in the helmet 1 is obtained.
  • each padding has a shoulder at the base of each 16.17 which is turned towards the outer shell corresponding 6, as it appears from Figure 1.
  • the shoulder 17 is arranged at a height of the padding 7 which corresponds substantially in the cross section of the arch 10.
  • the shoulder 17 extends over a depth of the padding 7 corresponding to the cross section of the arch.
  • the padding 7 of chin rest thus ends with a nose 13 making projection attached to the main body with formation a bend 14 at the junction area between the nose and the main body.
  • the curvature of the elbow 14 is adaptable to the section of the arch 10, so as to ensure perfect positioning of the chin bar.
  • the integration of the roll bar does not complicate the general assembly of the helmet.
  • the aforementioned garnishes being preferably removable, access to the arch is finds ease.
  • the specific arrangement of the arch makes it possible to prevent heaving from being hampered voluntary use of the helmet, in particular by the wearer himself, or that the intervention is prevented or even complicated medical personnel in the event of an accident.
  • a similar shoulder profile 16 is provided on the side. cap, the height of the shoulder 16 being less in this case given the arrangement between the base of the upholstery envelope 4 and the lining 18 of a insert 21.
  • the integration of the headband in the helmet is therefore ensured by the maintenance of the arch between on the one hand the shoulder 16, in particularly in the bent portion, and the insert 21 and on the other hand the trim arranged in the extension of the outer shell 3.
  • FIG. 6 an assembly of foams comfort 30 attached to a rigid frame 32, specific shape, and made of expanded polystyrene.
  • This frame 32 has the advantage that the material used is a good shock absorber.
  • forms complexes allowing the arch to be maintained in the inner profile are obtained.
  • a curve 33 is also given to the interior trim ensuring good contact with the face, thus improving noticeably comfort.
  • the whole thing is wrapped in fabric for example in the manner of a slipper 34, which serves also to maintain the arch in space 35.
