Definitions
- the present invention relates to a method of dispensing and packaging a fluid product contained in a pressurized container using a propellant gas, more particularly advantageous when the propellant gas is not compatible with the fluid product to be dispensed, and a device for implementing said method.
- fluid product is understood to mean a product in the form of a liquid or in the form of a more or less viscous paste or cream.
- a container comprising two compartments separated by a movable partition, a first compartment, containing the fluid product and being in communication with a product distribution valve, and a second compartment containing the compressed gas.
- the movable partition moves and / or deforms.
- the movable partition may consist of a deformable membrane; it is preferably constituted by a piston. This type of device is designed to isolate the fluid to be dispensed from the propellant and thus delay the degradation of the fluid by the propellant.
- the movable wall more particularly when it is constituted by a piston, is not always absolutely watertight either because the joints between the movable wall and the container are not watertight, or because the movable wall has a certain permeability to propellant gas.
- the tightness is lower when the fluid is less viscous and the pressure of the compressed gas in the second compartment is higher. Consequently, during storage, the compressed gas may gradually leak into the first compartment containing the fluid product and the latter may be degraded after a certain storage time. This problem arises, for example, in the case where the compressed gas is air and the fluid product is a hair dye.
- the present invention it has been found that it is possible to avoid the degradation of a fluid product, even a slightly viscous one, by an incompatible propellant gas, in a container separated into two compartments by a movable partition, although the joint between the wall of the container and the movable partition is not strictly sealed and / or that the movable partition has a certain permeability, by maintaining in the second compartment the propellant gas at atmospheric pressure during storage and by not increasing the pressure in said second compartment only to allow said distribution, the container being pressurized only for a very short time close to the distribution time.
- the present invention therefore relates to a method of packaging and dispensing a fluid product contained in a pressurized container using a propellant, the container comprising two compartments separated by a movable partition, a first compartment containing the fluid product and being in communication with a product distribution valve and the second compartment containing the propellant gas, characterized in that the propellant gas is brought into the second compartment at a pressure having a value P1 allowing the distribution of the fluid product by action on the dispensing valve, which is dispensed and, that the pressure in the second compartment is lowered to atmospheric pressure, the pressure being reduced to a pressure allowing the dispensing of produced only just before the next distribution.
- the propellant is preferably a compressed gas, air.
- the propellant gas in particular compressed air, is preferably introduced using a compressor or another source of compressed gas by by means of a valve arranged in the wall of the compartment containing the propellant gas.
- the compressor used can, for example, be that described in FR-A 2 656 047.
- a leak is advantageously provided between the second compartment and the atmosphere.
- This leak can be managed after or during distribution.
- the pressure is brought to the value P1 greater than atmospheric pressure and allowing the distribution by actuation of the distribution valve and the leakage rate of the propellant gas so that sufficient distribution time can be available. It is considered, in practice, that a dispensing time of 1 to 10 minutes is suitable in the case of dispensing cosmetic products.
- the present invention also relates to a device allowing the implementation of the method according to the invention; a device for packaging and dispensing a fluid product comprising a container pressurized with a propellant gas, the container comprising two compartments, separated by a movable partition, the first compartment containing the fluid product to be distributed and communicating with a dispensing valve carried by the container, and the second compartment containing the propellant gas is characterized in that the wall of the second compartment carries a valve for supplying compressed propellant gas and has a leak opening allowing the leak in the propellant atmosphere.
- the leakage opening may include a closing means making it possible to close said opening during the pressurizing stage and / or the dispensing stage.
- This closing means is, for example, a stopper that the user sets up manually.
- the escape opening does not have any closing means; it can be independent of the propellant gas supply valve and it is then advantageously constituted by a micro-opening pierced in the wall of the second compartment.
- the leak opening is part of the compressed propellant gas supply valve.
- the valve for supplying compressed propellant gas is a valve with a valve that does not does not close tightly on its seat in the closed position when the propellant gas supply is complete. The leakage opening is then formed by the space existing between the valve and its seat.
- the valve is constituted by a valve of elastic material resting on a seat and a fine groove is formed in the seat and / or the valve so as to create a leakage opening between the valve and its seat in closed position.
- a valve of elastic material resting on a seat and a fine groove is formed in the seat and / or the valve so as to create a leakage opening between the valve and its seat in closed position.
- the device according to the invention is designated as a whole by the reference 1.
- the device 1 consists of a container 2 divided into two compartments 3 and 4 by a movable partition formed by a piston 5.
- the first compartment 3 contains the product P to be dispensed and the second compartment 4 contains the propellant gas G.
- On the container 2, is crimped a dispensing valve 6 which communicates with the compartment 3 and which carries a rod 7 which can be pushed in using '' a push button (not shown) for actuating the valve 6 and dispensing the product P.
- the bottom 8 of the container 2 forms a conical bowl with concavity facing outwards and it is provided , in its center, of a valve 9 forming a plug which will be described below in more detail.
- the piston 5 comprises a transverse element 10 carrying a cylindrical skirt 11 facing the second compartment 4.
- the transverse element 10 has peripherally a conical portion 12 whose convexity is turned towards the compartment 3 and which is connected in its center at a depression 13 facing the compartment 3.
- this depression 13 is formed by successively cylindrical, frustoconical and cylindrical side walls and a bottom perpendicular to the axis of the container 2; thus, the depression 13 has a shape complementary to that of the valve 6.
- the cylindrical skirt 11 of the piston 5 is provided with two sealing lips: a first lip 14 disposed in the vicinity of the transverse element 10 and facing the compartment 3, and a second lip 15 located at the open end of the skirt 11 and facing towards the bottom 8 of the container 2.
- An O-ring seal 16 is disposed, in a groove 17 of the skirt 11, between the lips 14 and 15.
- the valve 9 consists of two parts which fit into one another: a membrane 18 made of elastic material forming a valve and a body 19 made of rigid plastic material forming the seat of the valve.
- the elastic membrane 18 comprises a frustoconical side wall 20 whose end of larger diameter carries a groove 27 making it possible to fix said elastic membrane 18, by snapping, on the bottom 8 of the container 2.
- the elastic membrane 18 is extended along a transverse part 21 comprising an axial opening 22.
- the rigid body 19 has a shape complementary to the elastic membrane 18 and therefore comprises a frustoconical side wall 25 extended according to a transverse piece 26.
- a conduit 23 is formed which is parallel to the axis of the valve 9 and which opens in the vicinity of the junction between the frusto-conical wall 25 and the transverse part 26.
- the end of the larger diameter of the frusto-conical wall 25 extends along a cylindrical wall 30 provided with an annular flange 28 which defines, with the frustoconical wall 25, a groove 31 receiving the large diameter end of the frustoconical wall 20 of the elastic membrane 18: thus, when the rigid body 19 is fixed to the bottom 8 of the container 2, the elastic membrane 18 is joined sealing; an annular flange 29 formed in the lower part of the body 19 allows the adaptation of the valve 9 to a gas compressor (not shown).
- a groove 24 is formed which, when the rigid body 19 and the membrane 18 are assembled, communicates the opening 22 and the conduit 23.
- the device 1 operates in the manner described below.
- the user wishes to distribute the product P contained in the compartment 3 of the container 2, he places the container 2 on a gas compressor (not shown), in particular air, so that the valve 9 is in communication with the compressor distribution nozzle.
- the compressed gas G passes through the conduit 23, deforms the elastic membrane 18 by detaching it from the body 19 and enters the compartment 4 through the opening 22.
- the groove 24, if it allows a certain amount of gas to pass propellant G would not by itself allow the supply of gas G to compartment 4 in a short time: the pressure in compartment 4, which was equal to atmospheric pressure, increases.
- the pressurization is continued until the pressure reaches a predetermined value P1 sufficient to allow the product to be dispensed when the dispensing valve 6 is actuated.
- the user stops the supply of compressed gas G and separates the compressor container 2.
- the user actuates the valve 6 and distributes the product P contained in the compartment 3.
- the piston 5 moves longitudinally in translation towards the valve 6 despite the slight leakage of propellant gas G through the valve 9. Due to the displacement of the piston and the slight leakage of propellant gas G, the pressure in compartment 4 decreases.
- the dimensions of the groove 24 are chosen so that the rate of leakage of the propellant gas G is such that the distribution can last from 1 to 10 minutes.
- the device 1 is only pressurized for a few minutes at the time of use.
- the propellant G is compressed air
- the device 1 is not sensitive to heat and presents no danger of explosion.
- it is ecological, the gas released into the atmosphere being air.
- FIG. 3 represents a second embodiment of a device according to the invention designated as a whole by the reference 101.
- This device 101 comprises a container 102 separated into two compartments: a compartment 103 containing the product P to be dispensed and a compartment 104 containing the compressed gas G. These two compartments are separated by a movable partition 105 which is constituted by a deformable pocket.
- the bottom of the container 102 is provided with a valve 109 identical to that illustrated in FIG. 2.
- a distribution valve 106 On the side opposite the bottom of the container carrying the valve 109 is set a distribution valve 106 which communicates with the compartment 103 containing the product to be dispensed P.
- the deformable pocket 105 is fixed, for example, by a weld 130 on the body of the valve 106.
- a pressure P is established in compartment 104, allowing distribution, only at the time of distribution, the pressure in compartment 104 then returning to atmospheric pressure. Consequently, even if the walls of the pocket 105 are slightly permeable to gas, the gas will hardly have a tendency to pass through the wall of the pocket and the risks of degradation of the product P contained in the pocket are low.

Abstract
