Abstract

A ground covering comprising releasably coupled-together hexagonal panels (1, 1a, 1b) which alternately exhibit, on their hexagon sides, hook protrusions (5) and eyelet protrusions (7) for the coupling is designed such that it does not exhibit openings either within the panels in the region of the eyelet protrusions (7) or between the panels in the region of the mutually abutting corners (3). The panels border one another in an essentially gap-free manner over the entire length of their side surface, the rounding-off radii (R1, R2) towards the panel upper side being dimensioned such that they do not hinder the pivoting movement for the coupling of the hook protrusions. Consequently, an essentially opening-free and gap-free ground covering, which is suitable as a walk-on traffic surface area, can be provided. <IMAGE>

Description

Die Erfindung betrifft einen Bodenbelag aus lösbar gekoppelten sechseckigen Platten von der im Oberbegriff des Anspruchs 1 angegebenen Art.The invention relates to a floor covering made of releasably coupled hexagonal plates of the type specified in the preamble of claim 1.

A floor covering of this type is known from DE-A-29 32 241. It is particularly suitable for quick or makeshift laying of roadways, taxiways or the like. certainly. In the known covering, the coupling projections are designed in such a way that the coupled plates do not abut one another in the corner regions, but rather leave open star-shaped recesses. Furthermore, three recesses open at the top are provided in the plates themselves, each of which delimit a web of an eye. The result is that the floor covering does not form a continuously closed surface, but is interrupted by a large number of relatively large openings. This is acceptable if the flooring is used as a runway or taxiway, especially for military purposes. However, the known floor covering is not suitable for use as a walk-in traffic area, particularly in the civilian sector, since the numerous relatively large ones Openings are tripping hazards, especially for women's shoe heels.

The same applies to similar floor coverings, which are known from DE-A-26 35 713, DE-A-31 25 690 and DE-A-34 03 989 and which also have openings both within each plate and in the corner areas between three adjacent ones Have plates.

The invention has for its object to form a floor covering of the type mentioned, without impairing its ease of installation, so that it forms a substantially continuous surface suitable as a walking surface.

The achievement of the object is specified in the characterizing part of claim 1. The subclaims relate to further advantageous refinements of the invention, which are to ensure, in particular, a clamp-free coupling of the plates.

An embodiment of the invention is explained in more detail with reference to the drawings. It shows:
  • Figure 1 is a plan view of a plate of the floor covering according to the invention.
  • Figure 2 is a plan view of three panels of the floor covering coupled together;

  • 5 and 6 are sectional views corresponding to FIGS. 3 and 4 to illustrate the pivoting movement when coupling a plate.

The plate 1 shown in Fig. 1 has the shape of an equilateral hexagon, the corners of which are denoted by 3. On each side of the hexagon between two corners 3, a coupling projection 5, 7 is formed in the central region. On three non-adjacent sides of the plate 1, the coupling projection 5 is designed as a hook projection with an upwardly open hook profile 9, as can be seen from FIG. 4. On the three other sides, the coupling projections 7 are designed as eyes for the engagement of a hook projection 5, as shown in FIG. 4 for the eye projection 7 of an adjacent plate 1a. As can be seen from FIG. 4, the eyelet projection 7 forms a downwardly projecting and rounded web 11, which the hook profile 9 engages under and behind. The web 11 is separated from the plate 1 a by a recess 13 which receives the hook profile 9. The recess 13 is closed to the top of the plate 1a by a wall 16 so that the Plate 1 a also forms a continuous, opening-free surface in the area of the coupling projection 7.

Fig. 2 zeigt drei miteinander gekoppelte Platten 1,1a,1b. Fig. 2 shows three coupled plates 1,1a, 1b. A hook projection 5 (indicated by dashed lines) of the plate 1 engages under an eyelet projection 7 of the plate 1a. Likewise, a hook projection 5 of the plate 1a engages under an eyelet projection 7 of the plate 1b. The coupling projections 7.5 are designed such that adjacent plates 1, 1 a and 1 a, 1 b lie along the entire length of their side surface with a very small gap, in particular in the area of the three colliding corners 3 there is only a very small gap is. This close abutment of the plates is achieved, inter alia, by the fact that above each hook projection 5 the side surface of the plate is set back so that it forms a recess 13 (see FIG. 1), which is shaped so that it has the eyelet projection 7 of the respective plate to be coupled. This measure also ensures that the axis of rotation 15 (FIG. 4) defined by the web 11 of the eyelet projection 7, about which the plate 1 with the hook projection 5 has to be pivoted during coupling, runs essentially through the corners 3 of the plate. This contributes to the fact that the coupled plates can lie against one another with a very small gap, without a clamping or wedge effect which impedes the pivoting movement for the coupling.

Es ergibt sich also die Beziehung R₃ ≦ R₁ ≦ R₂.The dimensioning of the rounding radius with which the surface of the plate merges into the side surfaces also contributes to achieving a jamming-free coupling movement. According to the invention, these radii are smaller on the side surfaces provided with hook projections 5 than on the side surfaces provided with eyelet projections 7. On a side surface provided with eyelet projection 7, a radius of curvature R₂ is provided, both in the area of the coupling protrusion 5 and on both sides thereof, as indicated in FIG. 1, this radius of curvature R₂ being sufficiently large to allow the adjacent plate to pivot as shown in FIGS. 5 and 6. In contrast, on a side provided with hook projection 5, the radius of curvature has a value R 1, both in the area of the recess 13 adjacent to the hook projection 5 and on both sides thereof, this radius R 1 being able to be chosen to be very small and mainly due to production technology. In practical cases e.g. the radius R₂ has a value of 8 mm and the radius R₁ has a value of 2.5 mm. In a further training, a radius of curvature R₃ can be used in the immediate area of each corner 3 (see. Fig. 1), which is even smaller than the radius R₁. So there is the relationship R₃ ≦ R₁ ≦ R₂.

Each plate 1,1a etc. is preferably made as a plastic molding, for example by injection molding, and consists of an upper membrane 21 and side skirts 23 and possibly additional stiffening ribs 27. The top of the plate can have a suitable profile to improve the slip resistance, as indicated in FIG. 1 by the diamond pattern 27. The gaps remaining between adjacent coupled plates are shown exaggeratedly large in FIGS. 2 to 6. In fact, it is possible to allow the plates to adjoin one another practically without gaps, ie with mutual contact, within the scope of the manufacturing tolerances, without the pivoting required for the coupling being impeded by the clamping action.
