Definitions

  • the invention relates to a fuel supply for a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine with a fuel injection system, comprising a fuel quantity divider with a tubular distributor housing and at least one fuel inlet connection and at least one fuel return connection, the fuel quantity divider having a number of first receiving bores which corresponds to the number of injection valves and in the range of one A second receiving bore is arranged at the front end of the distributor housing, a fuel quantity divider being used for fuel supply to an internal combustion engine with at least two rows of cylinders for each row of cylinders, the fuel quantity dividers being connected to one another in a fuel-conducting manner by a connecting line and arranged in a series circuit, and wherein in the second receiving bore from one of the two fuel flow dividers added a pressure control valve i st.
  • Such a fuel supply is known from WO-A-90/03513 or US-A-5197436.
  • the cylinder arrangement of the internal combustion engine according to WO-A-90/03513 is V-shaped, a fuel quantity divider being provided for each of the two rows of cylinders and one of the fuel quantity dividers being provided with a pressure test connection.
  • Another fuel supply is known from DE-OS 41 11 988.
  • the known fuel quantity divider is intended for internal combustion engines, the cylinders of which are arranged in series with one another. There is no indication in the document that and in what way such a fuel quantity divider can be used in internal combustion engines which have at least two rows of cylinders.
  • the invention has for its object to develop a fuel supply of the type mentioned in such a way that it has a simple and inexpensive structure and can be used in internal combustion engines that have at least two rows of cylinders.
  • a pressure test connection is received in the second receiving bore of the other fuel quantity divider and that the fuel quantity dividers are designed to match.
  • Such an arrangement of fuel quantity dividers is particularly advantageous if the two rows of cylinders form a cylinder angle of more than 60 °.
  • the fuel quantity divider can consist of a fuel and heat resistant polymer material.
  • the formation of the fuel quantity divider with its first and second receiving bores can be easily realized if a polymeric material is used for the production, and the fuel quantity divider is produced by injection molding.
  • the weight reduction is of particular importance.
  • the fuel flow dividers are designed such that they flow through fuel in the same direction from the inlet connection in the direction of the return connection.
  • the pressure control valve and the pressure test connection have matching connection areas for mounting in the fuel quantity divider, the pressure test connection are arranged in a liquid-tight manner in the second receiving bore of the first fuel quantity divider in the fuel flow direction and the pressure control valve in the second receiving bore of the second fuel quantity divider.
  • Fig. 1 two completely matching fuel flow dividers are shown schematically in a top view, the fuel flow divider being connected in a fuel-conducting manner by a connecting line to two connecting flanges.
  • FIG. 2 shows the first fuel quantity divider in the flow direction in a longitudinal section.
  • Fig. 3 the second fuel flow divider in the flow direction is also shown in longitudinal section.
  • each of the fuel quantity divider 1.1, 1.2 is provided with a tubular distributor housing 2, wherein each of the fuel quantity divider 1 has a fuel supply connection and a fuel return connection 3, 4. Injectors are accommodated in the first receiving bores 5 during the intended use.
  • a pressure control valve 9 is provided in the region of the front boundary 6 of the second distributor housing 2 in the direction of flow 12 and is fastened in the second receiving bore 7 of the fuel quantity divider 1.2. 1 also shows a connecting line 8 shown in broken lines, which connects the fuel return connection 4 of the first fuel quantity divider 1.1 to the fuel inlet connection 3 of the second fuel quantity divider by connecting flanges 13.
  • holding webs 14 can be seen in the plan view according to FIG. 1, which are formed in one piece with the fuel quantity divider 1 and have fastening bores for fastening the fuel quantity divider 1 to the cylinder head of the internal combustion engine.
  • FIG. 2 shows the first fuel quantity divider 1.1 from FIG. 1 in a longitudinal section.
  • the first intake bores 5 for attaching the injection valves connect to the fuel inlet connection 3.
  • the fuel divider 1 is sealed on the side facing away from the fuel inlet connection 3 by a cover 15.
  • the connection area 11 of the pressure test connection 10 is designed essentially exactly as the connection area 11 of the pressure control valve 9 and is arranged in a sealing manner in the second receiving bore 7.
  • the second fuel quantity divider 1.2 from FIG. 3 does not differ from the fuel quantity divider 1.1 from FIG. 2.
  • a pressure control valve 9 is arranged instead of the pressure test connection 10 from FIG. 2, which is located upstream of the fuel return connection 4 in the flow direction 12.
  • both the pressure control valve 9 and the pressure test connection 10 are each held by a bracket 16 in the second receiving bore 7 of the fuel quantity divider 1.
