Description
- Die Erfindung betrifft Füllstoff enthaltendes Papier.
- Mit der Einführung des Offset-Druckes beim Zeitungsdruck zu Beginn der siebziger Jahre hat sich das Publikationsorgan Zeitung den Vierfarbendruck erschlossen. Der Vierfarbendruck auf Zeitungspapier benötigt, wenn er von der die Verlage mitfinanzierenden Werbewirtschaft akzeptiert werden soll, ein erheblich besseres Zeitungspapier, als dies ohne Vierfarbendruck notwendig ist. Die wesentlichen Kriterien sind ein verringertes Druckfarbendurchschlagen, ein höherer Weißgrad und ein ausreichend hoher Reibungskoeffizient der Papieroberfläche.
- Verringertes Druckfarbendurchschlagen ist zwingend, weil das Papier nicht nur einmal, sondern viermal durch ein Druckwerk geht. Ein hoher Weißgrad schafft überhaupt erst die Voraussetzung, um vierfarbig drucken zu können. Und der ausreichend hohe Reibungskoeffizient ist notwenidg, um in der Druckerpresse einen nicht-schlüpfrigen Lauf und damit den für den Vierfarbendruck so wichtigen Passer sicherzustellen.
- Zeitungspapier wird traditionell in Nordamerika und den skandinavischen Ländern aus jungfräulichen Fasern hergestellt. Während diese Fasern in Skandinavien TMP-Fasern sind, finden wir in Kanada noch erhebliche Mengen Holzschliff. Dadurch ergibt sich die Notwendigkeit, Zellstoff in der Rezeptur einzusetzen, um die notwenige Festigkeit zu erhalten. Gemein ist diesen Produktionsverfahren bis vor kurzem der weitgehende Verzicht auf den Einsatz von Altpapier, der in Mitteleuropa schon auf eine längere Tradition zurückblicken kann, auch beim Zeitungspapier gewesen.
- Zwar setzen nun auch verstärkt die skandinavischen Zeitungspapierfabriken und die in den USA und Kanada auf den Einsatz von Altpapier, in Nordamerika getrieben durch den dirigistischen Eingriff durch Gesetzgebung gerade in den wichtigen US-Bundesstaaten, doch wird in diesen Regionen die Frischfaser nie ihre grundsätzliche Bedeutung verlieren, nicht zuletzt deshalb, weil selbst in einem noch stärker ausgeprägten Zyklus der Faser-Wiederverwendung aus technischen Gründen immer wieder Frischfaser eingeführt werden muß.
- Je höher der Frischfaseranteil ist, desto dringlicher stellt sich bei oben skizziertem Anforderungsprofil für Zeitungspapier die Notwendigkeit, das Druckfarbendurchschlagen auf ein erträgliches Maß zu reduzieren, weil der Zwangsanfall von Füllstoffen über den Altpapiereintrag wegfällt. Weil üblicherweise Druckfarbendurchschlagen durch Erhöhung der Papieropazität, also erhöhtes Flächengewicht oder Pigmenteintrag, reduziert wird, ist der Füllstoff-Zwangsanfall bis zu einem gewissen Grade, durch die spätere Papierfestigkeit diktiert, ein gewünschter Effekt. Dies enthebt aber immer weniger Papierfabriken der Notwendigkeit, zumindest über den gezielten Einsatz von nicht über das Altpapier kommenden Füllstoffen nachzudenken. Ohne Altpapiereinsatz wird er geradezu zwingend werden. Die Reaktion der schwedischen Papierindustrie beweist dies.
- Es besteht somit die Aufgabe, ein Papier zur Verfügung zu stellen, welches das Durchschlagen der Druckfarbe nicht zuläßt.
- Gegenstand der Erfindung ist ein Füllstoff enthaltendes Papier, welches dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, daß es als Füllstoff synthetische Kieselsäure enthält. Die synthetische Kieselsäure kann eine gefällte Kieselsäure sein. In einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform kann die gefällte Kieselsäure sprühgetrocknet und vermahlen sein.
- Die gefällte, sprühgetrocknete und vermahlene Fällungskieselsäure kann die folgenden physikalisch-chemischen Kenndaten aufweisen:
Oberfläche nach BET 1) m²/g 190 Mittlere Größe der Agglomerate µm 7 8) Stampfdichte 2) g/l 120 Trocknungsverlust (2 h bei 105 °C) 3) % 6 Glühverlust (2 h bei 1000 °C) 4) 9) % 5 pH-Wert (in 5%iger wäßriger Dispersion) 5) 6,3 DBP-Absorption 6) 9) g/100 g 270 SiO₂ 10) % 98 Na₂O 10) % 1 Fe₂O₃ 10) % 0,03 SO₃ 10) % 0,8 Siebrückstand (nach Mocker, 45 µm) 7) % 0,1 1) nach DIN 66 131 2) nach DIN ISO 787/XI, JIS K 5101/18 (nicht gesiebt) 3) nach DIN ISO 787/II, ASTM D 280, JIS K 5101/21 4) nach DIN 55921, ASTM D 1208, JIS K 5101/23 5) nach DIN ISO 787/IX, ASTM D 1208, JIS K 5101/24 6) nach DIN 53601, ASTM D 2414 7) nach DIN ISO 787/XVIII, JIS K 5101/20 9) bezogen auf die 2 Stunden bei 105 °C getrocknete Substanz 10) bezogen auf die 2 Stunden bei 1000 °C geglühte Substanz - Diese Kieselsäure wird auch im Beispiel - als SIPERNAT 22 S bezeichnet - eingesetzt.
- Das erfindungsgemäße Papier kann einen Anteil an Kieselsäure von 0,5 bis 3 Gew.-%, vorzugsweise 1 bis Gew.-% aufweisen.
- In einer besonders bevorzugten Ausführungsform ist das Füllstoff enthaltende Papier ein Zeitungspapier.
- Die Erfindung weist den Vorteil auf, daß das Durchschlagen der Druckfarbe um fast 60 % verringert werden kann.
- Die Versuche mit Einsatz von Kieselsäure in Zeitungspapier fanden zwischen 1989 und 1991 auf dem amerikanischen Kontinent statt, vorzugsweise in Kanada, aber auch in den USA und in Südamerika. Hierbei haben wir mit einer kanandischen Chemiefirma zusammengearbeitet, die die Versuche an den Papiermaschinen leitete. In allen Fällen wurde ausschließlich mit Frischfaser gearbeitet. Die auf den Papiermaschinen versuchsweise erhaltenen Papiere wurden anschließend auf kommerziellen Offset-Druckmaschinen bedruckt, in einem Fall sogar auf einer Zeitungspapier-Druckmaschine in einem europäischen Verlagshaus, und anschließend optisch ausgewertet. Bei der optischen Auswertung haben wir uns auf die Auswertung des Druckfarbendurchschlages konzentriert. Alle nachfolgend gezeigten Versuchsergebnisse sind also keine Laborergebnis, sondern äußerst paxisnah: Papier von der Papiermaschine und nicht vom Blattbildner, Drucke nicht vom IGT- oder Prüfbau-Testgerät, sondern von der echten Druckmaschine!
- Zum besseren Verständnis der Versuchsergebnisse zeigt Figur 1 in einem Schema, wie sich das Druckfarbendurchschlagen linear aus der Papier- und der Druckfarbenkomponente zusammensetzt. Während die Opazität bei fertiggestelltem Papier eine Konstante ist, ist das Durchschlagen abhängig von der aufgetragenen Menge an Druckfarbe. Natürlich kann man das Durchschlagen dadurch verringern, daß man die Opazität des Papieres durch geeignete Pigmente erhöht, ein oft beschrittener Weg. Gelingt es jedoch, Einfluß auf die Druckfarbenkomponente zu gewinnen, ist auch dies ein Weg, das Durchschlagen zu verringern. Den Effekt kann man dann zwar erst nach dem Bedrucken feststellen und nicht schon am unbedruckten Papier, also bereits an der Papiermaschie. Im angelsächsischen Sprachgebrauch gibt es für diese Gesamtbetrachtung den Begriff "printed opacity".
- Figur 2 zeigt die erfolgreiche Verwendung von SIPERNAT 22 S, einer amorphen Kieselsäure der DEGUSSA. SIPERNAT 22 S absorbiert, bezogen auf die Eigenmasse, nicht nur die doppelte Ölmenge, sondern sogar fast die dreifache. In diesem Fall ausschließlich verursacht durch die Druckfarbenkomponente konnte das Durchschlagen um fast 60 % verringert werden, von 0,043 auf 0,018 .
Claims (4)
- Füllstoff enthaltendes Papier, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es als Füllstoff synthetische Kieselsäure enthält.
- Füllstoff enthaltendes Papier gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die synthetische Kieselsäure eine gefällte Kieselsäure ist.
- Füllstoff enthaltendes Papier gemäß den Ansprüchen 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die gefällte Kieselsäure eine sprühgetrocknete und vermahlene Kieselsäure ist.
- Füllstoff enthaltendes Papier gemäß den Ansprüchen 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Papier Zeitungspapier ist.
